First fill, Not feeling Restriction Anymore???

Recommended Posts

Had my first fill, 4cc in an 11cc band on March 3rd. I felt restriction for about 1 week or so, and now I feel like if I did not stop at 4oz. of food I could keep eating! I feel like I will NEVER EVER last till April 14th for my next fill. Does anyone else feel like this? I lost 4 more pounds after the fill, but nothing now. My Dr. says 6 weeks in between fills, so??............ Any ideas or comments please. Im very frustrated !!:wink2:

It was March 3, wasn't it? Or am I losing my mind?

Anyway, welcome to bandster hell! I was in the same boat----4 ccs seems to be the standard 1st fill with our group. It doesn't stick very well, does it?

It gets better--I promise! They're generous with Fill #2, too--and while I'm still not all the way there yet, it's light-years better, and there is a much brighter light at the end of the tunnel. Still, waiting is H.A.R.D.

I know what they told us in the class, but did you ask Dr. J himself whether he'd consider another fill sooner?

I would see if your doctor will do another fill. 6 weeks seems like a long time.

I'm in the same boat - however, my surgeon does fills every 4 weeks. I was okay for about a week after my first fill and now, if I "let" myself, I could eat whatever.

I don't mean to hijack but while I realize that it takes about 3-4 fills to hit that "sweet spot", I have a question - I watched my doctor fill my band. It was completely closed when he filled it and backed out .5 CCs to let a stream through. I physically saw how small my band was - why is there no restriction then? What happens to our band and/or the saline?

What changes, mostly, is our actual stomachs! At the time of the fill, there is swelling. That goes down, so the band loosens a bit. And, too, the actual size of our stomach decreases with weight loss--loosening the band. At the beginning, I've been told, this can happen pretty quickly. The stomach-size thing tapers off as loss progresses.

But mostly, it's swelling...and when that dissipates, the "fill" sensation dissipates.

Laura, I know that the office is pretty adamant about waiting 6 weeks--luckily, they are a little more aggressive with fills than many. But it can't hurt to ask for an earlier fill. I'd email and describe what you're eating, how often, how much, and how long it's tiding you over--and ask if you can go in sooner or, failing that, whether they have any advice to increase your satisfaction/decrease the hunger.

Are you able, now, to get in enough Fluid and Protein? If not, really focus on that--it does make a difference.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
