Happy Friday Everyone!!! I had my one week post op appt today with Dr. Malley and I half lost 25 pounds from my starting weight!!! I get to advance my diet to softer foods now so I had tuna for lunch today and I am really full like over ate to full. I bought one of those Tuna lunch and go things and ate not even half of it and I can feel the tightness in my stomach. Well have a great holiday. I am not sure if I will be at the next support group next Saturday. My grandmother retired yesterday so we are having a BBQ for her that day around 1230. I may come for a little bit depending on what all I need to do.

Have a nice time with your grandmother.

Thanks Joyce. I am doing well although I should not have ate that piece of cheesecake today after Easter lunch. My mother in law had Jack Stack's for Easter lunch and was nice enough to order some burnt ends that were sshredded more like a pulled pork with no sauce for me. It was yummy!!! How about you how are you doing?

the throwing up/food getting stuck and possible stomach erosion is what is making me second guess

Jason - have you met with a therapist about your decision? Many of us took advantage of a professional to counsel us before surgery.

Secondly, do you have a friend or family member who has the band who might sit down with you and discuss their experiences?

This is a very important choice. Each of us had similar reservations about surgery before the date.

For me, seeing all the success on the boards and thru friends and family, helped me to decide that surgery was right for me.

For me, the alternative (not having surgery) would open the door for significant health issues in my future.

Good luck making your final decision.

Joyce

Jason - I had NO PAIN. Also no gas pain. I'm 6 weeks post surgery and have NOT had a stuck episode.

3 days after surgery I had a bit of anxiety. What will I be able to eat??? But, day by day, as I followed instructions, everything went well. The anxiety only lasted for one day and has not returned.

Each day gets easier.

Try not to worry over time. Follow instructions from your physician and welcome the band into your body.

Jason I have to have my whole band replaced and I am anxious to have it done. I obviously have NO reservations.

Who is doing your surgery?

Jason I promise you will be fine. I was the same way that you are. Heck I cried all the way to the surgery center the morning of. I also went as far as to tell my husband that I wanted my youngest to have my wedding ring (she is only 3), I told him how much my life insurance policy was through work, and also told him where I wanted to be buried. I never was really scared about the stuck issues or throwing up. I kind of figure if you do what you are suppose to and chew everything well you should not have a problem. With that being said...I was banded on 3/25 and have moved up to soft foods. I ate a hard boiled egg the night before Easter and the next morning thought one sounded good for Breakfast. Well it was cold and not as soft as the one the night before. It kind of had a hard time going down even though I chewed really good. I had to get up and walk around to hel it down. Lesson learned. Only eat warm eggs. This is a learning lesson for all of us and we will all make it through it even you!!!!

Yum, I am full of envy! Just a tip that sauce will be your friend when you get more restriction. I order mine on the side and can use it if I need it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
