Waiting for Approval

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone my name is Chaval and I'm pretty new to this site. I am in the waiting process and it's killing me, after all the pre-op testing this is the hardest part. I try not to think about it so much but I can't help it. My surgeons office called on Tuesday and told me all of my paper work was faxed to my insurance company and that it usually takes 2 to 3 weeks hopefully it wont take that long. I pray I get approved because I reallly want this to happen,

I know exactly how you're feeling right now. I started the process in April of last year with my 6 months of PCP visits as well as all of the testing. My BMI is under 40 so not only was I excited at the thought of having the surgery, I wasn't sure if I'd even qualify under the terms of my insurance. It consumed me. I just had to find something else to occupy my mind. Hopefully it won't take the full amount of time to hear back. I have Aetna and my claim was submitted on a Friday and I got a call from the Dr.'s office on the following Monday morning with my APPROVAL! My appt. with the surgeon is on Jan. 27th and I will schedule a date then. Hang in there and good luck!

Chanal-

I too know how you are feeling. My approval came quickly but a few weeks into the process with the tests I came to find out that my surgeon was "not in network" I had to find a new surgeon and start all over:sad:

Best advice I ever read here DO YOUR HOMEWORK

The ins. part is tough and waiting and wanting it soooo bad sucks!! but do everything they ask of you and everything will work out fine.

I am finally being banded in 7 days and this wait is also killing me.

Be patient (this is advice for myself as much as it is for you)

I will pray for you

good luck- stay strong- its going to go in your favor

God Bless

Good Luck Chaval!

I have Blue Cross & Blue Shield Ins. & they approved in less than a week...call your Ins. Co directly (member svcs. dept.) and ask if your bariatric claim has yet been submitted and reviewed. Call weekly if you have to. It doesn't hurt to be proactive.

Keep us posted!!!

f&s

Hi Ms. Chaval,

Glad to be your Bandster friend. You are farther along than I, but I am worried about the same thing. I am so mentally ready for this and then if the insurance does not authorize it, I will be heart sick. During this time though, I am trying to practice eating slower (not too good at this yet), exercise, eating 1400 calories/daily (which is sometimes hard), and putting together recipes and things I will eat Post-op. The waiting is so hard though! Hang in there!

Terri

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
