Hi.. Yes, You can have your surgery while your on your period. I did.. I thought the same thing..

You just might want to mention it to the nurse when you go in that day for surgery, just tell them you need to keep your undies on.. And I made sure I made one last trip to the rest room before I went into surgery.

Actually, now that I think of it.. It seems like when I went in, my period seemed to stop right after the surgery I don't know if it had something to do with the anesthesia, I'm sure? I thought that was strange for me. But don't worry about that. I remember the nurses telling me they have ladies come in like that all the time.. But I know, we just think of everything!! :tt1:

I had my period during my surgery. It was no big deal (then again I am an OB nurse). I let the pre-op nurse know and she gave me mesh panties and a pad. I remember my tummy being a little sore that night when I was taking care of "things". This is a popular question around here, seems like more ladies end up having their period than not. (I'm sure it just feels like that). Remember no one will care as much as you do, all will be fine. Good Luck!

I had to stop my birth control 4 days before the surgery (increases risk of blood clots) so I cheated and stopped a week early so my period would be the week before and I wouldn't have to worry about it around surgery time. Worked like a charm!

I was actually wondering about the whole birth control thing. I read on someone's post that they had to stop BC for a month before? I am wondering what my doctor is going to say... :tt1:

My doc makes you stop 4 days before and stay off for a month after. If I stopped 4 days before I would have started my period the day before surgery and surgery day would have been a flood, something I didn't want to deal with so I stopped the pills about 10 days before and was nicely finished by surgery day. Worked like a charm!

I was on BC when I had surgery in June and I will still be on BC when I have my revision next week. I wasn't told to stop taking it and I made sure my surgeon knew about all of my medications.... Hrm.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
