Deep pain in pannus region

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Was not sure where to post this, but figured this was probably a good place to start as I am looking in PS for my pannus.

I have a very heavy pannus. Have lost about 80 lbs. and my tissue is very, very dense to begin with. Had BR already and PS said I have very dense tissue.

The pain I have with my pannus on left side is in the groin area, deep pain when sitting at the computer and working and also have a hard time walking (I do 30 min. a day walk).

I feel like I need some type of support. Any suggestions on what to wear. No rash, just deep pain in left groin. Feels extremely heavy.

I have heard that hernias can be involved with the pannus.

Wonder what your thoughts are on this?

Thanks for any advise.

I am thinking about getting panniculectomy expanded to a Tummy Tuck, but cannot afford this right now. Hoping my ins. will at least cover the panni.

MaryRose:

You should probably see your doctor if you're having pain. Maybe you do have a hernia. Maybe it's something else.

I got some help with insurance paying for a panniculectomy that I upgraded to a Tummy Tuck. It was still expensive, but well worth the $$$. I was able to get partial insurance coverage because I had documented (pictures too) recurring rashes.

I've heard of someone on this site that had help with their plastic surgery cost because of a hernia repair being combined with their tummy tuck.

So, go see your doctor and then start talking to plastic surgeons. You may want to ask bandsters that have been through plastic surgery near you to recommend a surgeon.

Best wishes. I love my band and my new flat tummy!

Sue

Thanks Sue!

I actually had my yearly check-up yesterday and my doctor thinks it could be a hernia.

I still have about 30 lbs. to go, so not sure where I'll go from here.

My new insurance does not cover my band, so now I'm worried if I do go for the Tummy Tuck and I need a port revision, it may not be covered.

I guess I'll just have to take it one day at a time.

Sue, I live in Lowell, MA. Nice to see a neighbor!

I have a panni problem too, my right side hangs lower than the left side and a great deal, really un balanced here. I ahve had so many surgeries in this area back in the 80's try 5 in 3 years, well anyway the other night when I was on the floor doing my crunches I startd rubbing this area like just feeling around and I felt a mass about the size of a orange on my right side, so I palpated it and it made me sick with fear, it could be old scar tissue that has built up or something worse and lets not go there, but anyway this mass sits in the pannis area so maybe the insurance co will cover this sicne the mass will ahve to be removed, food for thought any comments out there for i would like to ehar back sharrroc@aol.com if you would.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
