Research before you have the band...

Recommended Posts

*eat smaller portions without feeling deprived

*eat a meal and be satisfied, not want to snack an hour later

*lose weight faster than just a normal diet

*keep me in check! If I start to feel unrestricted, I can tighten up and get back on track.

*make me accountable

Keep in mind here that everyone has a different experience. I had a small 4cc band placed in September. I am filled to 2cc. Half of the capacity of my band is in fill at the present time.

Most of the posters here have larger bands and require more fills to get to proper restriction.

My experiece is that I do in fact need very small portions, however if I want to, I can snack between meals and at times I have to watch that very carefully. I was kept in check over the holidays when I would have just gone crazy after one of my thousands of diets. I was unable to go crazy. The snacking did keep my weight loss down to only one pound, but I am so so happy that I lost and did not gain. I have never lost weight very fast and I am not losing fast now, but I am fairly consistant. That is new with the band. I said all of that to say this, you still have to do the work, of losing weight. If you don't you won't lose, and you could in fact, gain back much of what you lost. This is true with any WLS. If you are not ready to completely change your relationship with food, you can and some people do, fail.

I did research on lapband for years ( almost 6) and even after all that research I still think of more and more questions. I cant imagine going into surgery not knowing all I did before the surgery. This site and you people are always a great bonus for help.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
