Good luck to both Romanticbliss and Carstar. It took me 4 months to get my date and then I got moved up a month because I was finished with all my pre op stuff. That was very exciting. I found the waiting to be one hardest parts. I have been banded since June 29 so I still think of myself as a new-bee. I wish you well and blogging helps me keep my paws out of the cookie jar. Have a nice day. imaluckydog

Hi, I live in the next town over. I had my LB done at Lahey in Burlington MA. Back in June 29, 2009. I must say congratulations on starting a journey you will never forget. I weighed more than you and I need to loose over 100 ..... But it is not about the poundage any more it is about me and my health. I too have a son 21 and a daughter 19 both in college. It is now my turn to take care of me. This LB is very exciting and it was scary for me, so if you have any questions maybe I can help? I have had one fill and I weigh in next week. I have lost over 47 pounds since end of June and I feel so much better. I work out at the gym and I can even walk up stairs without huffing and puffing any more. I love your " Band-it Journey" Good luck and I hope to hear from you. Kathy imaluckydog today
  5. Hi, I had this and I found I was eating to late at nite. I never eat anything after 6:30pm. The food does not settle well. I was given advice to try "papaya enzyme" I found them at GNC cheap. I took three and in minutes I was back to sleep. Now I have them next to my bed, in my car, and purse, in the bathroom. So true when you need them you do not want to have to THINK where are they!! I have taken them after being stuck and it has helped me. Hope all is well I have 4 cc's in my 10 cc band. Kathy imaluckydog
  6. Hi BG, Great blog today thank you I always need to hear what you have to say. I have been very uncomfortable after my fill. Yes, I could get an un fill if I could not keep any thing down. I just need to work with my band. I have had to really think about my choice of proteins and how they are prepared and the size of bite I take. I spend so much time now I have to take at least 45 minutes to eat. For example I had 6 small pan seared scollops over lettuce and 5 soft not soggy FF for lunch today. That took me 45 minutes to eat. I was out at a club and did not want to get stuck. I did not drink when everyone had their iced teas. I chewed the first bite and I may not have chewed well enough so I felt it. I had such fear of you know what!!!! I just engaged in the conversation and left my fork on the plate. The person next to me had the same dish as I had and she was finished eating and I had not even had my second bite yet. I was so proud of myself as I have been in a lot of pain lately. It took almost 3 to 4 days for me to feel any restriction after my first fill. So I am also a member of the Chebacca chew club I am the one to the right of the brunette I have the long braids. LOL I don't even like food any more and I have to force myself to make good choices. I had ribs the other night. I used to eat an entire rack I could only eat two. Thinking of you imaluckydog who did not get stuck today of once. Kathy

Hi My Band Buddy, Glad to hear all went well with your fill. Mine was not as easy. Lets see how many days before you feel the difference. I was OK for about 3 to 4 days after my fill and since then I have been in pain and stuck after eating, even just nibbling the smallest amount of food. I now have liquids for breakfast and soft foods at lunch and go real slow it took me an hour to eat the meat on two small pork ribs and one ear of corn IT TOOK AN HOUR OMG...... I have had that stuck feeling where you feel like a cinder block in on your chest. That takes about four hours for the feeling to go away. I thought I was all over this LB stuff. NO WAY do I have a thing or two to learn. Girl friend GO SLOW. and Chew, chew, chew, to beat the band. Look forward to hearing from you. Kathy imaluckydog who is feeling a little better now.

I wish you lots of LUCK!!!! You will do fine. It sure is a process and a journey I must say. We have all been there at one point or another. Best wishes to you. For me the most impt. thing get your insurance to approve the surgery so you do not have to wait any longer than you have too. I was lucky enough I went early by a month because I had all pre op stuff done, anything can happen. imaluckydog

I had a real problem with the liquid I was drinking too fast and it would come back up. I used the EAS Advant EDGE chocolate 17 grams protein and the EAS Myoplex lite strawberry cream 20 grams protein. Both taste fine to me. I have had to go back to liquids because I just had my first fill. imaluckydog
  10. Hi JJ, I was banded on June 29th and it was July 29th One Month to the day that I got my first fill. I was ok for about 4 days after the fill which was 2 cc's I had 2 cc's when the band was put in. That is the way my Dr. does things. I have a total of 4 cc's now and I have a lot of fullness all the time. I need to eat at regular times and I can only get in a small amount of food in before I feel opp's I have eaten toooooo much, I go real slow. Foods I was able to eat before I can not now after the fill they just do not sit right or go down. I have had a few uncomfortable days I must say. We had lobster for dinner the other night. I love lobster. I use to eat 6 tails and now I can only eat 2 and on the last bite of the second tail I was like OPPPPP's and I was in pain for 4 hours it is not a good feeling to have. I am learning to eat small to be small. I have lost 47 pounds since surgery and I weigh in on August 12 when I meet with my Nutritionist. I do not own a scale because I would be on it all day. I just need to remind myself to chew, chew, chew to beat the band and get the protein in first, thanks for listening. imaluckydog If you were banded on the 20 any time from Aug 20 and after should be your first fill follow your Dr.orders. My Dr. office made all the follow up appointments for me because it often harder to get a fill apt.
  11. Hi, You had surgery on my first surgery date I wanted July 20 so bad. It seemed it would take forever to get here. I had finished all my pre op work in early June and got a call on a Friday to see if I wanted to have my surgery on that next Monday? I was like Hell Yes I am sick of waiting around. June 29th came and went and I am now banded for a little over a month or so. Got my first fill 1 week ago and have been having problems at every meal. I eat to fast choose the wrong foods and seem to have forgotten all I taught about chew, chew, chew to beat the band. I do keep Greek Yogurt with honey or fruit on hand it is smooth and goes down easily. When I am starving. It is usually head hunger. With God's help I hope I can make better choices tomorrow. Best wishes on your journey. imaluckydog
  12. Hi, I was like you and for the first couple of weeks I could eat everything and anything I wanted, not as much though. I got my first fill a week ago. At first I could still eat a good amount. Yesterday was a week after the fill and for two days it has been like hell. NO KIDDING!! I started the past few days in such pain. I also ended my days in pain. I hope I learn fast. The fill means I can only eat about a 1/4 cup of food. Good luck and go easy on the food. imaluckydog
  13. I must say "WOW" these pic's are amazing. I MUST SAY.... Thinking of you. Kathy imaluckydog

WOW it sounds like you are doing well thats for sure!!!! I have just had my first fill and food is getting stuck and I have this uncomfortable feeling in my chest. It maybe because I am eating to fast or not chewing well enough. I have a 10 cc band and 4 cc in the band. It seems a lot tighter today than it did a few days ago. We all have to work hard to work with this band and to keep us on track. Thanks for sharing. imaluckydog
  15. Congrat's welcome to Bandlandia we have so much fun and support each other as well. Best wishes. imaluckydog

Hi I had surgery on June 29 and I am alive and well. I never had any gas what so ever so I cannot believe what I have read. Having surgery is a little unnerving to say the least. Everything will go as planned and if you have allowed for a few days of rest and relaxation you will be just fine. You will be back to see your Dr. in one week to see that all is well. You can always go back early for anything just call your Dr. They are there for you. Best wishes I have had such success it has really changed my life. Lets hear from you in few days. imaluckydog
  17. You are sooooo not a failure!! None of us are.....You have made a choice for your health and wellness as many of us have done the same. You do care what he say's and how he feel's that is so normal in a relationship, that is OK. Ask him to support you unconditionally no matter what happens. He needs to accept no one has failed. Not him and most of all NOT you. This will pass and your friends here on this page are here to listen to you. We all have enormous feelings and sometimes we just have to have them. That is the way it is. Do not feel bad for anything you have chosen to do. Keep posting I look forward to hearing from you. imaluckydog
  18. Laugh OUT LOUD!!!!!Laugh OUT LOUD!!!!! Can you hear me I a laughing?? I am just dying here you are so funny. If I buy a scale it will be so hard for me. I will be standing on it while I make my dinner no kidding, I know myself. I would not even know what kind to buy? I would not waste my money on a cheap one and since I cannot see my toes without my glasses I am going to have to invest a small fortune in one where the dial is IN MY FACE.... Thanks for not outing me just yet there is HOPE OBEIWYANKANOBI I feel BETTER already. imaluckydog

Excellent work, Glad to hear, I have made a few of your recipes. Thanks so much. I have done well so far. I just got my first fill and have felt full almost since I was first banded June 29. My how time fly's. My clothes are fitting and that does make me feel much better. Even though I have not had to try that hard. I am following the Nutritional rules and it works for me. I am not feeding my monster within. I keep my paws out of the cookie jar when I blog. I just joined SWA too....Thanks again, Kathy imaluckydog
  21. OMG LOL This is the most hysterical group I have ever heard of. I know I should be a part of this one. I am a scale whore even if I do not own one. I keep a scale in my head and weigh my shoes. How pathetic!!!! I admit I am powerless over the scale and ask the SWA for help because that is the first step, "Giant step for whore kind" asking for help isn't it? I just LOVE this site. Thanks for keeping me laughing and my paws out of the cookie jar. Kathy imaluckydog
  22. Congratulations, you are doing great. I am back on softies as I just had my first fill yesterday. I had liquids all day yesterday. Bored, Yes I know the feeling. I do try to switch it up and I have been doing a bite of cooking. I still have to get the protein in. I tried some red pepper soup it was very tasty. Not hot but warmed it was just what I needed. There are people on this site that have recipes listed some are very good. Check them out. Hope all is well. I was banded June 29 I am only 4 weeks post op and feel so much better today. imaluckydog
  23. For Today: Prayer is not logical, and yet it works. Where rational intelligence fails, I place my faith in a source of help that is beyond my understanding and know that I will receive what I need. Little White Book I enjoy reading your blog thanks for the lift. imaluckydog
  24. Hi, Best wishes and feel better soon. I was scheduled to go in at noon and I did not go into surgery until 4 O'clock. I had an extremely long wait then the Dr. came out and said he had an emergency and then I would be next. He also thanked me for being patient and also for filling in a spot that another person was unable to make. The story of my life is the waiting game. When it comes to lap band take it slow and easy. Chew only when it is time and go slow and easy. I know I said that twice! I am reminding myself to do that as I just had my first fill and I again have to chew slowly to beat the band. Welcome, we have fun on these pages. Thanks for sharing and please keep us posted. imaluckydog
  25. Thank you for all the comments. I have always felt full. I have to take it very slowly. I met with another person who had it done at the same hospital and she did not get the 2 cc primer, like I did. I am not sure why I did? I have had a hard time today after yesterdays first fill.. I am drinking only today. I made the mistake of having a bite of a muffin OOPPPssssss. Not a good thing. I will not do that again. I honestly feel full so full. I am not sure I like it. iamaluckydog
