  1. I am a revision from lapband (2009) to mini-gastric bypass (oct 2018) and I genuinely have absolutely no regrets. Wish I'd done it years ago. I don't feel any different in my body (I can't tell my internal plumbing has been rerouted) except now I'm too wussy to eat icecream or anything with a high sugar or fat content coz I have dumped a few times. However it's certainly not as bad as the sliming, PBing and pain on not chewing properly with the lapband. I really really love my bypass, it means I can eat and lose weight like a regular person rather than a compulsive food addict.
  2. Any excuse to eat bananas is good in my book [emoji12]
  3. Drinking as I write! My MIL has a blood pressure machine so Imma go over and check it too.
  4. Ooooh that's been happening to me too. Dizzy when I stand up. I haven't been so good with my water either lately, so Imma get back on track.
  5. Oh cripes, you've had a whole bunch of horrible stress. Be kind to you poor self. Try your best but you've done well to only put on as much as you have.
  6. Wowweee what a difference in a year. Well done!
  7. Fantastic that is a huge effort!
  8. Hi Pippa. I live in Ireland but I had my surgery done with Dr Chris DeBruyne in Belgium and I cannot speak highly enough of him and his team. http://belgiumsurgeryservices.com/ The Jan Portaels hospital was excellent, and the nursing staff all spoke English to me. Very professional. I had a revision from lapband to mini-gastric bypass but he does the sleeve as well. You can talk with him and/or his team as to which would be the best option for you. The website lists all the costs for the surgery packages and there were no other costs except the flights for me from Dublin to Belgium. I took my hubby but you don't have to bring someone if you don't want to (much better if you do because they can help you with your luggage and being there for you). Also book assistance at the airport for the return trip so you can be driven around on a scooter and you won't have to walk / stand for a long time. You might still be a little sore afterwards. The hotel is a very short walk away from the hospital and also the town (there's a Lidl right nearby). Good luck!
  9. I've done crap at the challenge (had some choccy as a treat the other night) but the good news is, I hit my February weight goal early. Weighed in at 104 on the dot this morning. That's another four kilos I hope to never see again!
  10. I will. I flicked thru it in the bookshop and when I read him quoting a study about research on the importance of protein and its influence on carbohydrate intake, I was sold. He's an obesity geneticist at Cambridge.
  11. Picked this up in the bookshop today.
  12. Those who've watched enough My 600lb Life will recognise that there can often be a lot of denial associated with the reality of obesegenic living. Whether it's mistakenly thinking surgery will make weightloss "easy" or just magically happen effortlessly, or denial about what quality and quantity of calories a person consumes (pre-op and post-op), the mental side of struggling with obesity is probably the most important part. Food for many of us who need WLS, is a drug of addiction. And it whispers into to your ear to justify all the behaviours that make you addicted to it. All I can say is, if you don't tackle the mind-games of obesity, surgery will not help you! (putting this here so I'm not shaming any one person in particular, and the advice is to myself as much as to anyone else).
  13. Sweet bell peppers and sweet cherry tomatoes. And Pink Lady apples. I just love 'em, they are such a treat whereas before I would have turned my nose up at them.
  14. Congrats Big time. You are a powerhouse and give lots of peeps here good quality advice and feedback. You're looking fab!! Here's to an even better and brighter year 2!!!
  15. I reckon I did have a mild dumping episode. I ate more than I normally did (50gms *ack*) right before dinner then went for a walk but felt nauseous and not good. So I didn't eat dinner (didn't have the calories left anyhow). I'm good if I have 20gms but anything more and I think I have to be careful.
  16. Soz guys, I've been falling behind. 17. Exercise: hubs hopefully asked if I didn't feel like going for our walk but I said I did so we went. It's feeling "easier" so I need to up my game, make it more challenging somehow. I've turned into one of those people who exercises regularly *gasp*. 18. I need to forgive my late dad for telling me I couldn't wear frilly dresses because I wasn't built to be able to wear them. He didn't know such a throwaway statement from when I was a kid would stay with me, but I forgive him. 19. Positive memory: I was praying in a little mosque in Marrakech when a little boy came over and kissed me on the cheek whilst I was bending over (it's a position of prayer). He skeddaddled off and I never found out whether his mother had told him to do it, or if he was just being a cheeky rascal but it made me smile. He would have been all of five!
  17. Me, I'm a few days over four months (Oct 16). I speak in kilos so I'll try and translate: Before pre-op diet I was 134 kg / 295 lbs Surgery date: 127.5 / 281 lbs Today: 105.1 / 231 lbs That's just shy of 30 kilos or 64 lbs which I'm thrilled with, especially coz mine was revision surgery. (My pre-lapband highest weight was 153.5 kgs / 338 lbs). Boy do I feel different these days!
  18. You should be so proud of yourself!!
  19. Very interesting. Particularly the emphasis on how to deal with cravings!
  20. You can put some sugar-free syrup in it and then it tastes nom!
  21. Can you get dumping from eating too many nuts? Asking for a friend. Kthxbai.
  22. Woot woot! It's the best feeling, hey!
  23. Zomg they are totally not worth it. You're missing nothing.
  24. I've cooked sausages, burgers, parsnip chips, baked salmon wrapped in foil, roast veggies (zucchini, butternut squash, peppers)
