  1. And also it helps if you don't post the same question in multiple forums dude. The peeps who are willing to answer you patiently will see your question and answer it.
  2. Oh that looks sooooooo good. Eggplant is my favourite veggie
  3. Ooooh ta, Imma give that a go to mix things up a bit!
  4. 12. There is a picture of 16 Yr old me at a party with a school chum. It was taken at the one time I was a healthy weight (due to Weight Watchers and a crush on an aerobics teacher which meant I was at the gym everyday). I can see what healthy me looks like, because all my other photos (except for a scuba diving license) I'm overweight or obese.
  5. Ta. Very quick and easy to do too.
  6. There are never any leftovers! - Pan-fried salmon with green salad (and light, low cal caeser dressing) - Cabbage par-boiled in microwave then stirfried with mangetout and King prawns (w. shake of garlic powder, onion powder & salt) - Scrambled egg with spinich and avocado
  7. That looks really good! Was the turkey juicy (not dry)?
  8. I average about 5kg / 11lb a month. That's a bit more than a kilo a week which I'm happy with. (I eat in the range of 1000-1200 cals a day)
  9. I don't really feel any restriction unless I try and eat a whole chicken in under 30 seconds or sommit (exaggeration for effect, I've never actually tried to eat a whole chicken in one sitting). Basically, I have to weigh out my food and use that as my measure to stop otherwise I could keep going. Liquids = no restriction at all. However, I do get lovely satiety about twenty minutes after eating protein, so I know now to be patient and live through the "I wanna eat more now" feeling before satiety hits.
  10. Apart from having a craptacular week - so many bad choices, so little energy to do anything. Plus I put 1.6 kilos of my precious loss back on! Have realised giving in to Carb cravings just makes it worse. The more carbs I eat, the more I wanna eat. So have gotten real about keeping my carbs under 30 net a day. Have done it two days running and I'm starting to feel better. But anyhoo 11. I'm actually really happy where I am, I love rural Ireland. The scenery is breathtakingly green and beautiful, and the people are kind and friendly. But I'd love to revisit the old city of Sana'a in Yemen if there wasn't a devastating war on. I went there years ago to study Arabic and it's an amazing place. All the alabaster framed stained glass windows light up at night and look magical. I also loved living in far north Queensland. Tropical weather and rain forests FTW.
  11. I had my MGB revision on Oct 16, so nearly 4 months ago. I've lost 20.2 kgs after surgery (not incl pre-op loss). That's about five kilos a month which I'm delighted with. I'm not a quick loser but slow and steady wins the race, so to speak.
  12. 10. (haven't done this for ages, but) G̶e̶t̶ ̶a̶ ̶b̶i̶g̶ ̶s̶p̶o̶o̶n̶f̶u̶l̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶n̶o̶-̶s̶u̶g̶a̶r̶ ̶c̶h̶o̶c̶o̶l̶a̶t̶e̶ ̶s̶p̶r̶e̶a̶d̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶e̶a̶t̶ ̶i̶t̶ ̶s̶t̶r̶a̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ ̶f̶r̶o̶m̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶j̶a̶r̶
  13. She looks like she doesn't suffer fools gladly!
  14. Writing prompts (been a busy week so I'm not getting to these every day) 7. My funny little fam! Pottering around in the garden when the weather is nice. That moment deep in prayer when I'm totally grateful for all the myriad blessings in my life. 8. On the bariatric journey there are a few peeps. Bandedwendy from YouTube is amazeballs as is@GreenTealael (I'm such a fanboi) and @Matt_Z whenever he appears. Also from YouTube SmilinsShrinking is awesome sauce. 9. See pic
  15. @Orchids&Dragons is right. WAY to early to worry. Her bod has just had its insides messed with, it will take time to recover. The early weeks are tough work. She should put away the scale until she's on solids and just concentrate on learning her new way of eating.
  16. The mini-bypass has one anastomosis (the surgeon-created connection between the intestine and stomach) whereas the RNY has two. You still have the same bisection of the stomach creating a pouch the food goes into and the remainder which doesn't receive food but creates juices that feed into the intestines still. But instead of cutting the intestine and reattaching it in two places, the mini-bypass loops up the intestine with a hole and that hole is attached to the bottom of the new stomach pouch. A lot of the difference IMHO comes down to the surgeon's preference and expertise.
  17. Me. I had mine in Belgium with Dr Chris DeBruyne. I'm delighted with the results. I don't have any reflux problems although b/c mine was a revision from a lapband, my pouch is slightly larger than most due to scar tissue. But I'm losing more than a kilo a week, and my diabetes is in full remission.
  18. I think the only person who can advise you about that is your bari doc. Lots of factors to take into consideration incl. the expertise of the particular surgeon and your own health situation. Both have pros and cons.
  19. Anchovy fillets?? That's a first. The other good thing about plain is you control the level of additional stuff. So you could put a tiny bit of sugar free syrup, just enough for the flavour without it being too sweet.
  20. You look fabulous! Love the grey stripy top on you!
  21. Depends on what type of surgery you have, but you could physiologically eat all sorts of non-nutritious food long term, but whether you should or want to is another question. I should know, I ate Mars Bars and Chickadees yesterday and boy do I regret it. They didn't even taste lovely like they used to. Give me fruit and cheese any day!
  22. Back on track today! I said no to potential chocolate and just had a cup of tea instead. We got this, my dudes!
  23. Oh lads, I had THE WORST DAY. It started off with a protein pancake. It was a sample from the chemist and it tasted so fake, so I put some canned whipped cream and sugar-free syrup on it and by breakfast end I'd used up over 300 calories without feeling satisfied so I ate a protein bar but then I felt sick. So I didn't eat lunch, got hungry and lost the battle that had been raging in me for over a week to buy junk (yeah, I crapped out on the challenge). So I'm stuffing my face with chickadees and Mars Bars knowing full well its going to make me as sick as a dog. Lads, the taste wasn't even good! The chocolate was sickly sweet and the chickadees were overly salt and processed nothingness. THEN came the dumping and reactive hypoglycaemia. After I recovered I ate a white bread roll with smashed banana and chicken nuggets. I literally don't know what happened to me. I have been SO GOOD for months with only a minor slip up now and again. What the heck??? Back in the saddle tomorrow and I'll assess the damage at next weigh-in, but I feel like an alcoholic that is on that naxalone drug and I couldn't even get "high" just sick and now I'm regretting everything. Sigh. Oh lads, just when I thought I was in control. Oh well, onwards and upwards.
  24. 4. Soz too revealing 5. My eighteen year old cat. She was left stranded by a neighbour so we took her in. Then she emigrated to Ireland with us (her ticket was more expensive than ours) and has been long the roost the whole time even though she is getting quite senile now. 6. Had to choose a non-family or friend for obvs reasons, so even though I don't know him personally, the funniest person in the world is David Sedaris and his books always have me snorting a hot beverage out my nose! https://goo.gl/images/sfi9Np
