  1. Early out, it's not unusual for people to eat a little runny mashed potato or refried Beans because they go down easy. But then we transition to more Proteins as we can tolerate them, because we really need to get the Protein in, and with our small capacities it's important to eat protein first if/when possible. There's just not a lot of room to eat more. As far as getting back on track, you just have to really make sure you try to keep only things you need to have around you and get rid of all the junk. You have to resolve to do what is necessary. When I feel weak and want something, I ask myself which I want more, to continue losing weight and becoming healthy, or eating something that will sabotage my weightloss. I try not to make anything completely off limits, because it just makes me want it more, but I only let myself have a bite or two rarely and then I am ok. I try to keep a lot of choices such as Protein shakes, Protein Bars, cottage cheese, string cheese, almonds, pecans, pistachios, etc around. I change things up if I get bored and try out low carb recipes. The biggest thing that keeps me on track is because I don't want to have gone thru the whole process of getting weight loss surgery and not giving it a 100% chance to work for me. P.S. In your case you are only a wk out so that really limits your choices, but at this point it is the most important time to follow your post-op diet because of your new staple line. You don't want to cause yourself unnecessary complications.
  2. You will be able to eat a little more when you get a little further out and the swelling goes down inside your sleeve. You have to try different types of protein, if for instance chicken doesn't work for you right now, then try something different like a soft scrambled egg or cottage cheese. String cheese is tasty and handy to keep with you. It would be a good idea though to try to form good eating habits now, and make healthier food choices. The person above made a good point about orange juice being acidic, and it's very true. Most of us have an acid problem, at least early out, so it may be best to switch from orange juice to protein shakes? It takes a while to adjust, and it can be difficult if you have some intolerance's to some foods, but give it a little more time. Focus on fluids and softer food. The dryer the meat, the more difficult to tolerate, so try to use dips of some type. I like to mix plain greek yogurt with hidden valley ranch dip mix or any others. But you can use other dips or dressings.
  3. Wow, you are gorgeous, congrats!!

  6. NSV= Non Scale Victory!
  7. Worst/Hardest = Pre-op and Post-op liquid diets Best: portion control
  8. Yes, I agree 100% with everything you said! There's so much we learn in the process of all this, about food, eating, and emotions and why we eat! I am enjoying it most of the time myself, and it is so nice to finally take control of the situation and do something about it instead of sitting around crying and being depressed and feeling hopeless. It's not easy by any means for me, my body is holding on to every lb and every inch. But, I will not give up, because this isn't a diet, it's a lifestyle change. I love the sense of control over not running out and eating first then regretting it later and the portion control that the Sleeve gives us. I am thankful everyday for the Sleeve, the changes it's helping me make, and taking responsibility for my health.
  9. Sorry to hear about your mother in law and your grandpa!! But I'm glad he seems to be doing well, he sounds wonderful and like a fighter. Wonderful news on your tests, it's scary waiting to hear the results, so glad you finally heard back. You and you're family are amazing!
  10. Whoo Whoo!! Congrats, that's exciting news!! Good luck!
  11. Sounds like your sugar had dropped at work. If you had not ate anything til around 10, that is 3 hrs, so it was past time for you to eat, if you're like me. I have to eat every 2-3 hrs, especially early out when we can only hold a tiny amt. I know it's probably more difficult for some people at work to be able to take breaks or lunches to have something to eat, but you could take small ziplock bags of peanuts or almonds to snack on until you can get somewhere and have an actual meal. On the cookies, I have no advice except to not dwell on it, what's done is done. Just strive to do better with your choices, and keep better choices very handy so you won't be in a situation where you're hungry and have cookies as an option. I keep peanuts, almonds, pistachios, edamame, or protein bars in my purse at all times. Protein bars are as yummy to me as any candy or cookie anyway, and the ones I get are 20 grams of protein, so can easily also be a meal. If you have a fridge at work, you could also take ready to drink protein shakes or string cheese.

  19. Sorry to hear it's so rough for you right now, but it definitely gets easier every day! I would like to suggest as soon as the burps start, no matter how little you've eaten, to stop before you get to the tight uncomfortable feeling. Sometimes hiccups and burps are early out full signals. I know it may seem ridiculous on how little it takes to get to this point, but for now just listen to your body.
  20. Wow, you look awesome, congrats!!
  21. Thanks for updating us, this sounded scary!! Glad the Dr said all is ok.
  22. I had absolutely no problems with going to Tijuana. I can't speak for the other, but I think there have been others go there with no issues as well. Good luck!
  23. In the liquid and mushies stage, counting carbs is not as important, at least not for me. I didn't worry about it a whole lot till I was on solids.
  24. Congrats!! You're doing great!
