  1. I love my band when people see me and say "Wow, you look great!" And when I can tuck my shirt in & like it that way!
  2. I agree with Kristallynn, what you are going through is normal. Now is a time for healing so don't worry about what the scale says. I tried not to weigh myself for the first few weeks after surgery..... but I have to say I did step on the scale about once a week (its hard not to!) Anyway, congratulations on your new life, its a long hard process but worth every step!
  3. Happy Birthday & Welcome. I was banded by Dr. Esquivel Feb 7th thru True Results in Austin. I love my band, down 53lbs (half way to goal). I'm sure you will do great. Keep coming back here, the support will get you through anything! Keep us posted on your progress.
  4. Welcome to your new life. Good luck with your progress, it sounds like you are well on your way.
  5. Happy baniversary! Congrats on your success.
  6. You are such an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your story.
  7. I add lemon to my water for a little flavor. I also found Arizona brand Ice Tea stixs. They are sugar free, 0 calories and taste good.
  8. Congratulations to everyones weight loss. I was banded 2/7, down 53 pounds.
  9. At first I only told my husband & parents. Over the last 6 months I have told more & more. Now if someone asks how I lost the weight, more times than not, I tell them about the band. I do explain the band & how it works as a tool, etc. Each person is different, some tell all because it helps keep them in track & accountable, others are more successful by keeping it to themselves.
  10. Take lots of walks on the beach. Anytime you start to feel tempted, walk away and go for a walk. You will be fine, enjoy your vacation.
  11. Good luck to you & your wife on your new journey. Welcome!
  12. Welcome! Congrats on the 5 lbs, that's awesome. This is a great site there is a lot of support here. Good luck on your journey.
  13. Good idea. I use small utensils. I also use the time between bites to cut up my food. My Dr told me to "play" with the food on my plate if I need help waiting between bites. I also use the timer on my phone, I set it for 1 minute. I still have to time myself even after doing this for 6 months.
  14. Love the app. Add me as a friend too: ajtexas0
  15. Pandabear - thanks for the great cooking tips. Keep them coming!:-)
  16. Use a heating pad and walk walk walk! I would also ask your doctor for a recommendation for the gas. Good luck on Friday, let us know how you are doing.
  17. Another sugar addict here. I had to remove ALL sugary foods from my house, if I don't have them in the house i can't eat them. I usually get the sugar cravings at night watching TV..... I've been getting on my exercise bike for about 30 minutes (I keep my exercise bike in the living room), telling myself if I ride for 30 minutes I can get something to eat after. Course the only thing I want after is Water. :-) What I am getting at is the addiction is habit based (aka head hunger) so change the habit. This won't work every time, but its a start..... do something 3 times and it's a habit. Good luck and don't give up. You can do this!
  18. Time to regroup. You have made the first step by reaching out for help. You can do this, we all support you. It sounds like you need to see your doctor to make sure the band is working correctly, then talk with a nutrition to get you refocused on the right foods to eat. Soon you will be back on your way. And we will be behind you the whole way.
  19. It is behind you now. As you said tomorrow back to business. Don't beat yourself up with the 'why did it happen?' crap. It did and it will probably happen again. It happens to everyone. Look at the good things in it. It only lasted 1 day (not several days). You recognized it and stopped yourself with a game plan for tomorrow. Be proud of that. I'm proud of you for recognizing your slip and admitting it. I don't know about you but before my new lifestyle I would constantly slip on diets but never admit it to myself let alone anyone else. You did great in my eyes.
  20. I think it might be the desire to be noticed. I know I hid, didn't want people to notice me when I was big. Now that I'm down 50 lbs and you can clearly see that I've lost weight I crave the attention. I want ALL the guys to notice me, I feel attractive! My husband notices but he see me every day. It feels soooo good when another guy takes a 'second look', especially if my husbands sees him.....hehehe. I think its perfectly normal to feel that way. (just control your actions).

Your tummy will talk to you! Mine talks the most when I lay down. It's funny, I've gotten to where I'm use to it. It's almost comforting to me. A reminder that the band is there working away.
  22. There are several reasons for me. To start are all the medical problems that kept surfacing, HBP, pre diabetic, etc. Then there was how I felt about me. I hated looking in the mirror and would hide from the camera. I truely hated myself. I had to change. So I got the band in February, I am down 50 lbs with 40 to go. I know this is the best decision I ever made. I love myself again and that is such a wonderful thing. The icing on the cake is I am no longer pre diabetic and down to only 1 HBP med (from 3), doctor predics that I won't need any meds very shortly.
