  1. I've been banded 6 months, lost 57 lbs and feel pretty comfortable with the band lifestyle.......until today. I got a small (.02cc) just over a week ago. Been feeling like I was in the green zone. As with most I'm tighter in the mornings, therefore often wait about 2 hours to eat Breakfast. I eat slow, small bits, chew chew chew, Protein first. Got it all down. Until today.... Day started as usual, had a poached egg and some turkey spam. After eating about half I got the signal that I was full so I stopped. Then I started getting the slim in the mouth and PBed. It came from nowhere. Then lunch, 2 bits into a sandwich I knew I was in trouble, got the stuck feeling...PBed that up too. Later in the afternoon I was hunger so I had 1/4 cup of cottage cheese, sticking with soft foods as a safety measure. No problems. dinner was salmon, light flakey fish so it shouldn't be a problem. I took really small bites and waited 1-2 minutes between bites. Sure enough after about 4 bites I got that feeling again. As I got up from the table I PBed A LOT all over the floor. Wow this has never happened before. Something really upset my band today. Of course about 2 hours after dinner I'm hunger but was not going to upset my band more. I drank a Protein shake, took about 30 minutes to drink it. I could feel it gurgling through my band. My conclusion, something upset my band. Could be the 100 degree days, allergies, something I did or didn't do when eating breakfast, or who knows. I am proud of myself for seeing the signs and not trying to push things. Living with the band you never know what is in store for the day. I'll have to see what tomorrow brings, it might have to be a day of liquids. My little angle may need some time to settle back down. Just wanted to share my day, see if this has happened to others.
  2. Congratulations on your success so far. I was also banded in February and have lost over 50 lbs. I have had several fills, not sure how many total. Don't worry about the fills, they are easy. The hard part is the day to day lifestyle change, but it sounds like you are doing well with that. I also use myfitnesspal, its a great tool and has kept me honest! I just sent you a friends request (ajtexas0).
  3. When you are ready to tell them you will. When I first got my band I didn't tell anyone other than my husband and parents. I had no intention of telling anyone either. But when people started noticing the weight loss, my approach changed. If I was asked how I was loosing the weight I sometimes told, but it was based on a gut feeling. I had no rhyme or reason behind it. Now most people know and yes some think its the easy way out, etc... but I don't care about their opinions. This is the best think I have ever done for myself. I will say that most have asked a lot of questions, like what do you eat, how much, do you have to exercise, etc. I think the biggest problem is the lack of knowledge about the band and how it works. I can't tell you how much time I have spent explaining the band to people. But I don't mind, I will continue to help educate as much as I can. Bottom line is do what is best for you when you are ready. Good luck.
  4. I was trying to figure out the nutritional information for okra, so I Googled it and found this really cool website. Calorielab.com. This site gives you ALL the nutritional information on a ton of foods. Check it out.
  5. Congrats and welcome. This forum is full of wonderful friends who will help you with question, support and love. Where in Texas are you? I'm in Austin.
  6. I agree with Sam. I have wine every evening, now I do factor the calories into my diet - they are liquid calories and that can hurt you. But for me I include them in my food plan. I have lost 57 pounds having my wine at night.....
  7. Congrats! Keep it up, slow and steady is the way to go. You are on your way to great success.

So did you say "Hello there stranger, where have you been?"
  9. Now that goes beyond "you can't eat just one"! Lol
  10. Kjoy & Webb designer - Don't give up!! This lifelong journey we are on will have ups & downs, if we stick together we can make it! I am currently on an up. Had a doctors appointment today, lost 4.6 lbs in 2 weeks. Feeling really good about myself right now. However 3 weeks ago I was miserable. I wasn't loosing weight & I was frustrated as hell. I didn't give up, I spent more time on this site looking for support, i took the recommendations given by my co-banders and kept trying. Finally I got results. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is you are on your way. You are here, looking for support and you didn't quit. I know you will see results. This is for life! We will make it!!!! This I know. You are doing well, keep it up! **hugs**
  11. My biggest changes: 1. No longer have high blood pressure. 2. Went from 2x to 16 in clothes. 3. Always cold in the office, instead of sweating! 4. My boobs stick out further than my stomach. Lol
  12. I am a fast eater. I set the timer on my phone for 1 minute and start it every time I swallow. This makes me wait 1 minute between bites. I have been banded for 6 months and I still do this every meal. If I don't i end up eating too fast and get into trouble.

Doing the happy dance for you!!!
  14. Thanks for the tough love. We needed that (at least I did)! Jean, you're the best!
  15. One can never have too many buddies/mentors. If anyone wants to, feel free to PM me for my contact info.
  16. Congrats. Do the happy dance!!
  17. Are you logging your food? I found that really helped identify what I was eating. I found that I wasn't eating the right foods....not the best choices. I'm now focusing on high protein, low carbs. I use myfitnesspal to log. It works great.
  18. My band is tighter in a morning. I drink warm liquid (coffee) to help loosen it up. Then about 2 hour after I wake up I can eat. As the day goes on it gets looser.....come evening it can feel too loose. Plus it veries from day to day. You will learn how finical your band can be. Lol.
  19. Congratulations! That is sooooo awesome!! You are an inspiration!
  20. Welcome & congratulations! Take care of yourself. Now is the time to heal. Keep us posted on how you are doing.
  21. Ok breath deep & relax. Everything will be ok. You made a good decision for your health. The band will change your life, in a good way. I was banded in Feb & have lost 53lbs. I feel great! Most people around me don't even know I'm banded, life is normal. The emotions & second guessing is normal. It too shall pass. You are doing great! **hugs**
  22. You are still healing. Try not to worry about weight, many of us gained during the healing stage. Stick to high protein foods and you will do fine. Its going to be ruff until you get restriction, hang in there.
  23. I think a lot of negativity comes from lack of education. My parents were negative at first, I then gave them a copy of Dr O'Brien's book and asked them to read it. They did and their support changed greatly. Other than my husband, they are my biggest supporters. The other important support for me is my support groups, both online and in person. I couldn't do this without them.
  24. Wahoo, congrats!! Onederland is awesome. Keep up the great job.
