  1. Jen - I agree with you. I think we do obsess over food on both directions. My husband has pointed this out to me just like your story. Every evening I plan out my next day, every meal, snack and exercise that I will do. I get very nervous and anxious if my "plan" gets disrupted. But being that I've only been banded for 6 months I feel I am still learning and need this structure. I'm down 53lbs so I must be doing something right. Anyway, I think in time it will become second nature and hopefully we won't obsess so much. I say keep plugging alone, it sounds like you have great support with hubby (me too) and he'll keep you from going overboard.
  2. These are great ideas. I'll definately try them. Thanks.
  3. Good luck on Monday. This is the beginning of a new life. Take things easy, focus on healing and you will do great. You are surrounded by friends here. We will help you through all the highs and lows. Welcome!

  5. Thanks for the story. You are so right, we do have to change our lifestyle for LIFE. Congratulations on your success! I always love reading your posts. You are a great role model, thanks again.
  6. I was banded Feb 7th and just now feel I am in the zone. As for hunger, I still feel it. I have to ask myself, is this real or is it head hunger? My worst time is at night & it's usually head hunger when I'm watching TV. When this happens I've been getting on my exercise bike instead of heading to the kitchen...works most of the time. That's me though & everyone is different.
  7. Jen_1381 - congratulations on reaching onederland. keep up the good work. With your attitude you will accomplish all your goals & dreams. Tru**Brit - you are so right attitude is everything. And it sounds like you are on the way, too. Good luck!
  8. If it doesn't hurt, go for it. I did and had no problems.

  10. Love thoses NSVs! Congrates!
  11. I'm able to eat sushi. I did have one issue when I didn't chew the seaweed enough and it got stuck. I say try and see. Just remember small bites and chew. Enjoy!
  12. I have been banded almost 6 months and I eat all types of seafood multiple times a week. Never had a problem. But it may be different for you. I would try and see....small bites and chew, chew, chew.
  13. You said it! This should be our motto. :-)
  14. I eat a sandwich for lunch every work day. I use Oroweat 100% whole wheat sandwich thins, 100 calories. Never had a problem & I've been banded for 6 months.
  15. Non scale victories.
  16. The reason for the puree/soft food phase is that your still healing. If you don't "puree" the food enough before swallowing you could cause damage.... Is it worth the chance? I say follow your doctors orders, it's not forever.
  17. It's not messing up! Some choices ars better than others. This is a new lifestyle, I don't look at it as a diet (I hate diets). I log everything I eat, holding myself accountable. We all need a "treat" every once in a while.
  18. Wow you look great. Congratulations, you're an inspiration to us all!
  19. Starting weight 250 lbs Current weight 199 lbs Total loss 51 lbs, 20.4%
  20. I chew gum alot. Never swallow it.... also never thought it would be an issue with the band.
  21. Are you tracking your food? I wasn't losing then I started tracking my food on myfitnesspal.com and started loosing. Probably because what I was eating was there in black and white. It got me making better choices. More protein, less carbs. My user name on myfitnesspal is ajtexas0 if you want a friend.
  22. You will do great. Try to think of the new skinny life ahead and not of the pain. You are in my thoughts. Best wishes!
  23. To eat in public....that is the question. I tend to go with the side of caution and stick with soft foods.
