  1. You go girl.... I have now lost 104# and I have a whole new sence of confidence...As I see myself walking down a windowed hallway I see my "new" shadow...and think to myself "hmmm you are looking pretty good!" Before I would see the shadow and wish I could run the end so I wouldn't have to look at the nasty shadow blob...

I know I am still 94# over goal and when I finally get there well hell's bell's....I'm gonna party! I now have men approach me and ask for dates, dinner and more...(however, I'm married)lol. I have younger men tell me if I wern't married they would wellllll you get the point... New confidence...It is wonderful!

    Good luck with your Sleeve!

  2. I so know EXACTLY how you feel......keep chin up and glass of water in hand...my hubby made brownies the day i came home from surgery and my 12 yr old son proceeded to tell me how yummy they were! I have lost 85# in 3 mos 1 week, and he has yet to say 1 word either good or bad about my loss....

  3. My periods were fairly normal, but came about every 6 weeks...since surgery I am right on the 28 day marker....However I tend to not gain during the TOM but I did not lose not even 1 little ounce...I kept to my regular diet and drank more water (which of course makes you pee more)....When my weight is lower, I tend to notice my body does react differently to a number of things that I would otherwise not even notice, or that I havn't noticed in many years.

    Good Luck

  4. I am with you on the pain...I could barely walk at 354#, my knees in compaction pain I was eating 3- 4 perkecet a day....Since my WLS I have lost 55# and am weighing in at 299 # and have not taken a pain pill since March 3rd....

I am so glad you made the big decision to have the WLS you will love it, I would do it 10000 X's over again. I had mine done in Mexico and I loved my Dr. Aceves...He was Fabulous!!!

    Welcome to the losers Bench!

  5. Good for you!...I love this forum for the simple fact I can say what is on my mind and heart, and no one judges...

This is one of the best support groups we have, and it happens throughout the day...so many answers to many questions and things come up we don't even think to ask about. The vetran sleevers are awsome. I too am only 7 weeks out was sleeved on 2-27-12 in Mexico by the best surgeon Dr. Aceves...I experienced NO>>>YES ZERO pain during my surgery and afterwards...wow was I lucky.

I have only lost 52 lbs to date but I am swimming 3x a week and counting calories/protein/carbs and attempting to get in the liquids...very hard for me...And I work full time, and have 2 kids still at home and an unsupportive husband

  6. Surgery is not a Fix All, it is simply a tool we purchase to help us lose weight, kinda like a diet pill but WAY BETTER! I find some people even if they know you've had the surgery are timid about saying "oh you look great, Keep it up" they will tell a family member who is brave enough to pass along the compliment. And then you have folks who you've known for years who are not aware you have had the surgery and they EXCLAIM IN THE MIDDLE OF PUBLIC "OH MY YOU ARE LOOKING GOO, THERE IS ONLY HALF OF YOU LEFT, WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU DOING TO YOURSELF" now when this happens you will be completely validated! This happened to me just this week and I've only lost 52 lbs....but this lady just couldn't help herself...and you know what?....It felt great to have such a compliment!

    Good Luck

  7. Hey sister~ I have 2 kids left at home and they run me ragged...I can only imagine having 6 ...yikes kudos for you!!!

At 4 days post opt I was walking short jaunts and counting the steps to home...LOL You will bounce right back because by day 10 I was going to the movies, attending the county fair in Imperial California, and later by 19 days I started water arobics. This was the best thing for me as you are boyant in the water, your knees and back don't complain and you get a good work out! This is something I could never do on land with the weight impacting on my joints being so heavy.

You need to stay away from the scale for a time, then when you do hop on the little bugger it will tell you, you weigh less...the numbers will start to fall.

Keep in mind your body will go thru stalls, you just gotta work thru them, mine was at about 3 weeks I had a bout 4 days where I did not even lose 1 ounce.....grrr

DO IT FOR YOU!!! everyones metabolism is different...are you keeping a food calorie/carb/protein diary? If not try it, it really helps me be honest to the program I have set forth.

  8. I had a high protein diet on my own (not surgeon induced) and then when I came closer to the date like 3 days I had lunch, dinner, dinner, breakfast with all of my friends and family as I was mourning the loss of my food....Guess what??? I do not miss food at all.

My hunger is totally gone, I know must set my alarm to remind me to eat food, so I can survive ...and the best part is I am still losing weight...49 lbs in 6 weeks Yeah!

  9. If you would have told them the water was for medical purpose they would have tested it and allowed you to board with it. It is something the airlines do not broadcast but if for medical they cannot deny you.

I had some great help and advice from the TSA security in Yuma AZ when I was headed home. We were talking about the wheel chair help and visiting with woman about the surgery and she asked me in a certain way..."is that vitawater you have for medical purpose...keying me to answer "yes"...I of course said "OH YES IT IS" then she told me under TSA guidelines they allow passengers to board with liquid over the 3 oz if for medical purpose.

  10. My butt yet to start shrinking either, but my feet have melted down to a normal foot size, my pants went down 2 waist sizes, and my face has melted away so it is a glowing 1 chin face....my heart and liver and kidneys i'm sure are rejoycing due to their loss of fats around them....

Always check out the positives....fat is lost around your heart, liver , and kidneys first because they are the ones who are taxed the most from our weight issues, this allows us to get more energy and be healthier so our bodies can exercise with less trouble.

Your/my butts will come soon enough give it time, give it time...we didn't make these butts over night!

  11. I am so happy you plan to check your bag coming home...It will make your return trip more enjoyable...truely...Also know you can ask for wheel chair assist as running from gate to gate can take a toll on your new tummy and the muscles that have been torchered...I did with my sisters insistance and oh my goodness was I glad.

Also on the way home if you have a water or vita water of something you can let the security know it is for medical purpose they will test it but will allow you to board thru security with it.

Good Luck To You, Welcome to the losers bench

  12. I hear ya there... I had 3 shrimp and 3 dime size pieces of chicken when we went out to eat the other night and my husband says "you really made a pig outta yourself tonight" How thoughtful....I really wish he would do some research on his own! Hello people who do not have weight issues do not have a clue...He always tells my 12 yr old that he is growing his (my son's) belly.... I hate that...Who wants to have a big belly....grrrr

  13. Mexico is where I had my surgery done, I flew into El Centro and walked across the border hailing a cab to take me to the hospital....where I gave Dr. Aceves $8750 and they did the surgery on Monday. He is amazing and his staff and Dr. Campoz (nutricianist) was awesome!!! Just a thought... It took me 3 yrs of research $3000 of pre-opt in the states to figure out it was all just a money game to the dr.'s here in the states...They made me go to a physch apt..., a sleep test, a blood draw..., a nutricianist to talk about eating habits now and how much they could sell me stuff for after surgery...and then they wanted $27,000 more for the surgery....

NOPE....wasted money on that and then I found Dr. Aceves...my miracle man... I have lost 41 lbs and I now can put my own socks on....I am digging out my skinnier fat clothes...and doing water arobics 3 X a week and keeping calorie intake 600 and protein is hard to do but at least 65-70 g a day.

Good luck with the process, but for your own health....consider self pay...the process is simple and quick recover...I got out of hospital on Thursday 7 a.m., friday went to movies, saturday to co. fair, sunday flew home, and back to work Monday....

Wish you the best of luck
