9 Days Post Op And Starting To Want More

I have two more days till I get to my Phase 2 which includes scramble eggs, re fried beans, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. However, today I feel more hungry than I have since I started the 2 day of pre-op liquid only diet.

Today I found myself having more calories than I have since I started: 570 / 61 grams of Protein. I am worried because I am not figuring out the first sign of fullness and don't want to make things worse for myself.

Does it get easier to tell when you are full when you are eating more regular foods? What cues can I take?

Any light you can shed would be more wonderful

Ok I retracted my go for it. Stick to your phase 1 diet. And I'm still working on my cues myself hon. It's not easy so far (or hasn't been for me). But in time, it gets easier.

Call your dr. and see if you can add in protein. I just wonder, they cut out the gherlin but when does it 'kick back in'? Or is it just head hunger?

Yeah, I know what you mean about being over the liquid diet. If I don't get something to chew soon then I'm going to turn into a raving you-know-what!! Luckily I see the doctor tomorrow and hopefully I'll be 'advanced' to the next stage! *grin*. As for over-eating, you'll know. I made the mistake once and, to me, it felt like my stomach had a stretchy feeling before it went all "DEF-CON ONE" on me! Ouch!

Ghrelin is a hormone, it is not something that grows back. From what I understand, suffering from head hunger is real; however, I have not heard of anyone being really hungry that soon after the surgery. I know we may feel weak, which is a sign of hunger, but real hunger pains should not exist anymore. I will be interested in following your blog to see how you are doing. My surgery is on Monday, May 7th. My biggest fear is the pain from gas after the surgery. Did you have a hard time with the trapped gas?

They say it can take up to a month for the Grehling hormone to exit our bodies.... I called the dr. when I was so close and he suggested I try an egg to see how it went down...was just fine. I have lost 61 lbs in the past 8 weeks today!

I myself disagree with the not feeling hunger and it being head hunger. I am 5 weeks out and about week 2 I was hungery!!! I feel it is real hunger. To the point of feeling sick like low blood surger. I did have soft foods 1 day before I should have.

From what I was told from the start by Dr. Taylor Ghrelin does come back in about a yr. It is just what the body does and that why it is important to get to goal in that time.

I am down 26 in 5 weeks. i noticed as the swelling went down the more I could drink and eat.
