I am one week post op today. As of today I am 15lbs down from the beginning of my pre-op. To most, that would be quite an accomplishment but to me, I feel totally depressed. I took pictures the night before surgery and took pictures again tonight, 15lbs down and you can not even tell the difference. When will I finally be able to see even a fraction of a difference. I don't like to look in the mirror and I detest taking pictures because I know exactly what I am going to see...Jaba the Hut. I just want to be beautiful and thin again instead of this monstrosity I see in front of me. I know it will happen because I am working hard and following my doctor's orders but I can't help but want to see results now. Patience was never my strong point.

Oh, don't be so hard on yourself! You look lovely to me and you WILL see the results very quickly! I took a picture of myself when I was goofing around one night and sent it to my bestie. She pointed out the changes in my face and neck to me. I had thought that the weight loss wasn't showing, but it really was obvious when you looked at my pre-op and post-op pictures.

Calling yourself names isn't productive. Try just patting yourself on the back and being positive, even though it's hard. You WILL get there and it will happen much sooner than you think! :)

At my peak weight, losing 15 lbs was nothing and I couldn't tell the diff. either. 15 pounds of fat will just about fill a regular pillowcase, so keep that in mind. You're doing fine. Keep it up.

I would love to hear that you are learning to love yourself exactly as you are. Try not to say things to yourself that you would never say to another. You are going through metamorphosis... the catterpillar doesn't become a butterfly overnight, but the courage to change is worthy of praise and celebration - even before the big reveal and unfurling of wings. You are a warrior woman, taking control of your life. Celebrate that... and then look upon your new body with new eyes!

Don't be so hard on yourself. Usually others will start noticing changes before you do. If it helps start taking your measurements. Most of the time you will loose inches more than on the scale. That has help me keep things in perspective. I have only lost about 30 lbs in over 3 mos, so believe me I need all the encouragement I can get. But I can tell a difference in my clothes and sizes. I do measure myself at least once a month and the inches are coming off. :) YOu are beautiful and on your way to a better you. It is a process, so hang in there.

Well I have lost 50 lbs today! and I havn't really noticed the loss other than my pants won't stay up. I am now wearing a 24W rather than a 28W. My feet are not swollen and are extremely thin as are my fingers....Ya not exactly the first place I would wish to lose the weight but I'll take what I can get.

It will melt off give it time....
