Acid Reflux, (Help) How Long???
did they do an upper GI for you b4 the surgery. I always had acid reflux and they found a huge hiatal hernia. they repaired it and I have had no reflux since surgery. Do you trust your doc? This does not seem normal. Are you sure this is reflux? for me it was a burning burp after eating. it hurt and felt awful in the throat. I took drugs for a long time along with chewing Tums all the time.

New With A Dilema!
I hate to have you put this life change on hold but, I would have another baby 1st. keep in touch with this site, try eating the way we do, drink water like crazy. start an exercise program. I know others have had babies after the band placement. the ticking clock is a definite part of the thinking process for you. you can come back after the baby and then you will have the best of both worlds; children and a healthy body!

New To The Group
WELCOME happy to have you join the group. I have learned so much by reading posts from this forum. I try to stay away from the negative nelly's. I listen to my doc and nutrition experts. I don't do "it" perfectly everyday but, the changes have been so phenomenal, I feel different, I look different. I think for the 1st time I will make it this time. I have worked really hard on some demons that always pulled me back into the world of hatred - self hatred. I am worth all this work, I am worthwhile. I have things to contribute to the world. Believe it yourself, you will have success too! Ask lots of questions, it will make such a difference!

Food As A Form Of Self-Harm, Help!
I have been having trouble lately also but each day I do start again. Each day I try to eat right and exercise. I have uncovered a load of crap this year also, it was painful. I think the dreams I had were worse, I unloaded a bunch with a group from church in a study group. I told them things that I have never ever told anyone. I started this class not even knowing them, that's probably why it worked so well! Anyway, it always hurts the worst when we begin to uncover all the reasons we have eaten for years. I understand what you are saying but, I think you are asking us to help you stop punishing yourself. God did not make junk, he knows everything about us and still loves us. We are the ones who don't love but, we can. I will pray that you start to believe you are worthy to be at a healthy weight and that you are worthy of life. The people we used to be can really help by showing the new people how to forgive themselves. I forgive you and want you to feel the same.

Went To Seminar, Confused And Have Some Questions
funny how the silly things like drinking soda seem to be such a big deal. you have to ask yourself, what am I willing to change in my eating patterns to make my life better? this is a question only YOU can answer. Are you worth the hard work you will have to do? I would think the answer is easy but it has to be you that answers it.

Eating With Large Groups At Big Meals After Lap Band
I would never advise you to stop celebrating life with a meal. what I want you to do is be a bit more selfish. be selfish for you, you want this weight loss, you want this new health. this of you for the next months, you are worth working hard for. as the weight starts to come off, you will see a new person. a person you knew to be lost, but now is found. love the new person as she develops again. you are worth working hard for, remember that at the table with all the food and festivity. you will be surrounded by food for ever more, it doesn't have to be an enemy. keep posting on this forum, be honest, we are all here to help each other in succeeding together!

What Is Your One Main Motivation?
I was sick & tired of being sick & tired. I was done being the grandma who couldn't get down on the ground (and back up) to play with my granddaughter. I was sick of the growing list of ailments that made me go to the doc. I was scared to death that I would die way too early. I never would have believed how I feel and look today! No one could have told me all that I could have with weight loss. I thank God everyday for the support I continually feel from his love. this is what he wanted for me all along, I just couldn't believe it was mine to have!

May Do Low Carb
I read the book Bob Harper recently wrote "Skinny Rules", get it from the library. He gives such sound advise. I do not have any bread, pasta, rice etc after lunch. I try to eat lots of veggies and protein. I feel full from the protein and love the veggies. He recommends berries everyday, I have been loving my greek yogurt with berries, some granola, flax seed, a bit of cinnamon and a few pecans. It tastes so good and holds for many hours. Use an online program to keep track of your food each day, it will make such a big difference! Be sure to keep drinking lots of water and continue to take your calcium citrate & a good multi vitamin. Relax, you are on the way to better health.

Things I Need To Get Off My Chest
First of all, breathe....... take each day one at a time. as the weight started to drop for me, I had to change my manner of thinking. I have to think like a healthy person. I have to think (selfishly) that I deserve this prize; the prize of a healthy life. a longer life, a life where I don't make excuses for who I am. Start and always log your food. I use my fitnesspal.com; log everything you eat - even the "junk". If we (this is for your eyes only, be honest!) really get a look at where our problem eating comes from we can beat it. try to keep "good foods" in your home, plan so you have something in the car to eat in case you get hungry. always, always have Water with you. I do a lot of driving so I keep a small cooler in my car with water. You can do this, be gentle and patient with yourself. this is not a race, don't compare your weight loss with others. we all lose differently, just keep going. Everyday will feel better, everyday you will start to believe more in yourself. Keep reading on this forum, there are lots of successful people. try what they do. Learn, learn, learn.

Juicing
I have a juiceman. I absolutely love it. it has been fun to try lots of different veggies. I started for health reasons. I have had an ulcer for a long time & I found out that cabbage juice will help heal it. I mix cabbage with green apples. if I have it I add a little ginger too!

Is That Normal?
try to get at least 80 grams of protein each day. cut the calories, at least down to 1300. I think that will help you. give us a days menu. that might help to figure this out. sometime we are eating things that we don't realize are not such a good idea or too much fat, salt or sugar. Keep us updated!

Salt??
I bought Bob Harpers book "Skinny Rules" and he says we should have less than 2000 milligrams of salt each day. I notice sodium in everything I eat, I don't currently log it (I could on myfitnesspal.com), probably should! I think Dr Oz said to stay at about 1500! you will notice a difference if you can get in the habit of using herbs instead. I have started to use Mrs Dash's salt free seasonings. I honesty didn't think I would like them but, I love them!!! I bought the one for chicken and use it each week when I roast a turkey breast. It tastes so good. I roast with low sodium chicken broth & Mrs Dash. I baste throughout the oven time, very juicy, amazing, low fat, high protein, yummy!

Feeling Like A Lap Band Failure

Start to make some changes, even small ones. Anything you can do will make you feel better and get you ready for surgery! Going Nuts
any change is difficult for a relationship. I would say it is an immature way for him to communicate but, he is trying to do just that. keep working at what YOU want to do, get healthy, look better. I think it will all settle down with time. I hope you have other people in your life who can help support you. If not keep posting on this forum. You will gain confidence as you get used to eating well, exercising and losing weight!

Curves
I went to Curves this last year. It was a lifesaver! I would never have gone to a regular club in the beginning, perfect with just women there. I have since moved on to a YMCA because I needed more; swim classes, yoga, zumba, exercise classes, spinning classes etc. I just made this move to the Y but I loved going to Curves, I met sooooo many nice women.

Freaking Out A Little.
you are only 3 days post op, the drugs they used for your surgery are probably part of the reason you are emotional too! try not to get so far ahead of yourself, yes I do have loose skin hanging but it's not full of fat anymore!!!! the good changes will far outweigh the bad. you did a lot of work to get ready for this BIG life change, don't negate it now. I want to talk to you again in a few weeks when everything settles down. TRUST YOU & breathe.........

Bandster Hell Is Winning! Aaghh!
