  1. Really sorry to hear this news. I don't know much about it but I wish you all the best.
  2. Good advice is often worth repeating No need to feel like a dingbat!
  3. As far at taste goes hands down I prefer the Isopure powders. My surgeons office sells the big tubs for $40 and you get a lot of shakes out of it using one scoop. However- mostly my pocket likes the $15 powders from WalMart. I haven't found a RTD shake yet that I like. Also, nectar offers some nice alternatives from the typical flavors of strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla. Good luck!
  4. I can't wait to for my sleeve to tolerate chicken again! Both recipes sound yummy! Who would have thought that I would have NO problems with red meat- but chicken kills me!
  5. It was amazing to see the changes in your body- but even more amazing to see the changes in your face and how happy you are
  6. Pickles are a low calories, no carb snack. But- as it was mentioned they are full of sodium. However- I'm so busy counting calories and carbs and fats- I don't really care so much about sodium myself.
  7. I am struggling with feelings similar to yours as well. And honestly, it's in our head. When I first joined two days after Christmas I went three times a week until I got dehydrated. Let me share a few facts with you though; A- A lot of people who go there are just like us B- They really do encourage all people there- not just the skinny ones C- Most people there are just like us. They want to get their workout over with and go home to their busy lives. I need to start going back now that I have the dehydration under control, but mentally I'm freaking myself out about it. Maybe you and I will set a goal with each other to go twice this week?
  8. Every 3 months for the first year for me as well.
  9. I got home late from speaking at a WLS seminar. Pulled some precooked shrimp out of the freezer, soaked them in cold water to unthaw and made some home made cocktail sauce. Voila! Easy, high protein dinner in less than five minutes!
  10. I usually do a Protein Shake for breakfast- but tomorrow morning I may just have to try this... Minus the canadian bacon but only because I don't have any.
  11. Ask me what I do professionally!?!? I help people get setup with Cpap/Bipaps. I do the insurance aspect and my sister does the actual setting up. The biggest hurdle most of my patients have is getting used to sleeping with the masks. There are MANY different types of masks out there. In my professional opinion the best ones are made by ResMed. Are you a mouth breather? I tell my patients that it is a great idea if at night while watching TV or reading they wear their mask just to help them get used to wearing it. If your pressures feel too strong don't hesitate to contact your doctor. He can order a pressure change that your home care company will be happy to help you with. Also, if you experience any discomfort on the bridge of your nose there is something called a comfort care pad. It's a little gel cushion you put down before putting the mask on and it helps patients A LOT!! If you need any help/suggestions feel free to message me! I'm the Cpap/Bipap queen!
  12. Thank you for this comment. I've been struggling with this issue as someone who has always been overweight as an adult. I fit your description to a T. And your answer is totally correct. I need to work on falling in love with me. Thank you!
  13. You're going to do great! I personally believe the more you battle with food demons before surgery the better you will be after surgery. A cracker here and there isn't going to kill you. Remember- the goal is to be normal in all aspects. A normal weight, normal eating habits and a normal life. Most people will eat a few crackers- not an entire row of Ritz!
  14. Right after surgery you're only going to be able to sip so you won't really miss gulping. I'm 6 weeks post op and although I can't drink the same AMOUNT I used to drink, I'm pretty much able to drink how I did before. Say before I would have taken 6 swallows on one breath I can now take 3. It's an improvement. Not drinking with meals has been harder. The one time I decided to ignore that rule I got a case of the slimes.. Haven't done it since.
  15. Lilu, if you get to work with Dr. Appel or Dr. Shah at all (pulmonology) you are blessed. They are two of the best doctors I have ever worked with professionally.
  16. I have been positevely dying for fruit and veggies! I thought I wasn't supposed to start on these items until 3 months out- well today I re-read all my handouts and realized I could have started on these items 2 weeks ago! So- I'll be honest- fruits and veggies are on my menu for dinner tonight and I'll make up the protein in the form of liquid with some Nectar protein powder. If you haven't tried it there is a sample bag of all the flavors you can get at mybariatricpantry.com. They are such a refreshing change for the other powders.
  17. love it! my blog is www.daniellehinds.blogspot.com and I even do a vlog! www.youtube.com/madamdanyell
  18. Like you I was more freaked out by the catherter then I was by the thought of having 80% of my stomach removed. However, upon waking up and realizing how uncomfortable I felt I was SO happy for it! In retrospect if I had known I probably would have had them leave it in a little longer. I didn't mind moving around with it and I didn't feel it at all- even when it came out. I assure you I am a VERY modest woman and when it came time to remove it I didn't even care... Open went the legs and out came the catheter.
  19. Variety is the spice of life. If you are bored with your diet head over to a blog by the name of theworldaccordingtoeggface. She has amazing WLS friendly recipes that are yummy. Experimenting with foods is fun- jump on in!
  20. I have taken it morning and night since the day after I got home from the hospital. I have had no adverse reactions to it and after having had my first surgery- never would be too soon for another. I would much rather take this medication then risk having my gall blader removed.
  21. I was sleeved 12/5. I too felt exhuastion due to dehydration. Once I was able to get my fluids up and eat some real food I felt 100x better!
  22. I've been using a straw since about my first week out. I have several of those plastic "to go" cups that are re-usable and they are how I get my fluids. I find it is easier to pick it up and take a sip through the straw then it is to unscrew a bottle. For some reason drinking out of a glass still just doens't work for me. I haven't talked with my doctor about this yet, but next week when I see him I will.
  23. And I just want my mom to be around when I have kids! I've watched my aunt (whom I'm very close with) and my cousins as they've had their children and there is this huge green eyed monster in me as I watch. My mother- even if she is alive- can never watch my kids for me, she will never be able to come to my house and just do a load of laundry to help me out... She barely made it to the hospital for my surgery- only by the grace of god was my fathers power chair strong enough to carry her around. It was so nice having my "mommy" there in recovery until the stupid power chair bumped my bed lol.... My mother and I have such a rocky history- that if something happens to her before I'm able to work it all out... Idk.
  24. Look into dry skin brushing. It helps stimulate blood flow which helps with just about every body function. And even if it doesn't help- it feels amazing!
  25. I was DYING for chinese egg foo young- then I discovered egg face's website and her recipe for the foo bites OMG! And right now I am eating the itty bittyest sweet potato on earth because I was craving it for DAYS! Once you guys start to get eating actual food the cravings are easier.
