Slimes?
Well, I'm glad it happened while I was at home! PEVette- I had just had a little bit of bread... First time since surgery.. I wonder if that is what did it. I had a tickle in my throat from it and I took a sip of something to get rid of it because I didn't want it to turn into full blown choking... Well.. slimes it was! Thanks guys for confirming for me, I know it is sort of a gross topic.

How Long Before You Recovered From Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?
Are you allowed liquids or just clear liquids? I went home on full liquids... I found tomato Soup helped and yogurt... Fage greek yogurt sprinkled with a little splenda... Would have died without it! I really hope you feel better soon! Once you see the weight loss you'll forget the pain!

Slimes?
So I think I may have just experienced what I have heard referred to as "the slimes." I got sort of hot flashy and felt like I might throw up. My mouth started watering excessively- I couldn't swallow so I just kept spitting it out. It was very watery saliva.... Not thick like I expected... Does this sound like the slimes or was I really just fighting off a wave of nausea?

How Long Before You Recovered From Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?
Jasleeve- I feel your pain girl! The memory is still so fresh to me! I woke up on the 5th or 6th morning and was sleeping on my stomach! At first I panicked about it but then I realized how comfortable I was, how I wasn't in any pain and I sort of passed out again. The 5th or 6th day was totally a turning point for me. I could sit up in bed without wanting to die. Take it easy and relax and rest while you can. I feel like no one really talks about the pain or the exhaustion.

I Would Love Some Feed Back On This Question!
I'm 18 days post op. I'm allowed chicken, fish, eggs... I find that chicken doesn't work well for me... At all. Even a bites worth hurts. Deli meat has been good. I've also done whiting, flounder, scallops, crab legs and shrimp. Seafood is very high in protein in low in all the bad stuff and I've not had any issues with it. Good luck.

Fatigue...when Does It End After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
I'm in the same boat. The last two nights I have felt like an over tired baby. I understand now why they cry from being so tired, because the last two nights that is exactly what I've done... Had myself a good cry over it. Crying doesn't help one bit with exhaustion either!

Gastric Sleeve Surgery Dec 5th And Understand How Much I Loved Food
I looked at tons of sleeve friendly recipes online! It was very helpful to be thinking about food in a positive way. I took advantage of that time to get more familiar with the things I would be eating after liquids and learning how to prepare them.

First Meal With No Restrictions?..what Did You Have?
I had crab legs. Cracking them open and getting the meat out made sure I was eating slow. They are also high in protein and low in fat and carbs. It went very well but I could not eat very much. It was good to feel normal again though.

Can Not Stop Eating
I thought that was me prior to surgery. Now, looking back- it really wasn't a new thing. It was sort of how I was doing things all along and just wasn't paying attention to it. Did I go out to eat more? Yes, because I knew it would be a long time before I was able to eat at my favorite places again. Take it from someone who has very recently (12/5) been there, done that- use this time wisely. It will allow you to have an easier time adjusting post op. Good luck!

Second Thoughts About Gastric Sleeve Surgery
RNY does not guarantee dumping syndrome. My cousin had RNY the same day I had my sleeve done and she hasn't dumped on anything yet. And she has not really followed her diet very well. (She started soft foods much much sooner then our surgeon said to start.) She hasn't eaten a candy bar or anything but she's been fine with regular yogurts and coffee creamers. I'm not sure if there is enough sugar in those things to cause dumping but we sort of thought it was a sure thing so soon after our surgeries (12/5/11)

Online Virtual Gastric Sleeve Surgery Support Group
I think this is a fabulous idea! I would love to join this group! Webcams can be purchases relatively cheap all over the place anymore. I would even check Amazon. Amazon is my go to for everything these days because it's just so cheap. Let me know how things go and if I can help you get this started at all. Thanks!

How Has Gastric Sleeve Surgery Changed Your Life
I'm only two weeks out- but already I've noticed a sense of inner happiness I haven't felt in a long time.. Heck, maybe I've never felt it like this. For the first time in a long time there is something I'm looking forward to! In two weeks I have lost 25 pounds and I know I'm just going to keep losing. Emotionally it can be a bit tough at times, especially for someone who enjoyed food and has a lot of gourmet cooks in the family. When I say enjoyed I mean more like the quality and the experience of new tastes verses stuffing down emotions. (Not that I didn't do that too.) I'm enjoying sharing this journey with you guys, with YouTube and people on my blog, my family, and my coworkers. It is an amazing journey and really feels like a self discovery at times. Good luck to you

What Didnt You Use That You Brought For Yourgastric Sleeve Surgery Hospital Stay?
I spent most of my time sleeping. Like you I did not want to pay for TV. I didn't end up watching anything on my laptop, but it was easy to keep in touch with people who were wondering how I was doing. I brought a night gown of my own just to help me feel more normal, and I'm glad that I did. I also brought my Kindle but didn't end up using it at all. Good luck to you!! It's so close!

Question About Soft Foods
Thank you for posting this! It is good information to have that I did not previously know.

Question About Soft Foods
I haven't done any sort of noodle because it is a carb. I've tried REALLY hard to make it so that anything I put in my mouth contains protein. If you are on soft foods there are several recipes on EggFace's blog under soft foods. I google "Egg face" and her blog comes up. I don't want to post a link because idk how she feels about it. There is a recipe there with ricotta, mozzarella, and eggs I'm going to be making for Christmas. My family is having lasagna and I'll have that and still stay on plan! Also- Wendy's chili is amazing! I can only eat a few baby spoons at a time, but it sure has helped me feel normal again!

Question About Soft Foods
I need to work on not getting on the scale every day.. Multiple times a day. I feel addicted to it though.. For so long getting on the scale was so traumatic and now it seems more like magic! It is good advice though and I will work on maybe just once a day for now... Baby steps. Right now I'm enjoying a tablespoon of Wendy's chili with some Fage Greek yogurt mixed in. Yummy! Still mostly on Protein shakes but the taste of real food is enough to satisfy me right now. Thank you all for your advice.

Question About Soft Foods
Good evening all, it's a cold one here in NY! The last two days I have started to replace one shake a day with a soft meal. The first night I did it with the meat from two crab legs (couldn't finish it all) and then today with a little chili and some greek yogurt for extra Protein. The scale is showing a gain of one pound. Is it common to maybe gain a pound or two once you start transitioning from non-liquids? Thanks, Danielle

First "success"
Even funnier, I'm fitting in my 18s too!! I love "The Flirt" jeans from Old Navy. They fit me in all the right ways! I haven't lost any weight in the last 2 days... I think it's time to get the tape measure out! Very happy for you!

First "success"
Today I had to return some clothes I ordered online to Fashion Bug and managed to get the sister who doesn't totally hate shopping to go with me. Since I was returning clothes because they were too big it was okay to browse as long as I didn't spend more then I was refunded right? Well, shopping is so much fun right now! In August I remember being in Fashion Bug to get an outfit for my uncles 80th bday and crying in the dressing room when I had to try on 4x because 3x just didn't work anymore. So today I go into the dressing room with a few shirts in 3x and one 2x just because they didn't have it in a 3x. I tried on the 2x first because I figured I could cheer myself up with the other shirts when this one didn't fit.... But guess what!! I had to peak my head out of the dressing room and ask Alyse "Can you see if this one is on the clearance rack in a 1x?" Seriously, that moment is totally in my top 10 best moments ever! I ended up getting a few shirts that were 2x and a few that were 1x. I comfortably fit the 2x's now- but I know it won't be long before I need the 1xs. (At $5/each how can you not stock up a little in the smaller sizes?) It was such a fantastic day. Alyse hasn't seen me since before my surgery because she was away at college. When she saw me for the first time last night she couldn't stop telling me all the places she could see the weight loss. (face, stomach, legs, ect.) I kept telling her to shut up and stop trying to make me feel good.... This went on all night until she made me stand in the doorway I took my preop pics and then loaded the new ones into the computer side by side.... WOW! You can see the difference. Who knew I have a neck? lol!!!

3 Weeks Post Gastric Sleeve Surgery And Not Losing.....
I'm not even two weeks out and haven't lost anything in almost three days. I think it may be some of the baby food I've been eating. Gonna try and give that up now that I discovered Fage greek yogurt. Good luck to you!
