  1. Love my pressure cooker! It's a life saver!! I need to find a mini one tho... Seems silly to use the big one if I'm just cooking for Mr. Josh... (That's what I named my tummy- don't ask)
  2. I will have to try a rotisserie chicken. Heaven knows chicken is about the only thing my sleeve doesn't like.
  3. Haha, I mispronounced bougie so bad my doctor didn't even know what I was talking about! lol
  4. I too have gone through this. Chicken and eggs were pre-surgery favorites of mine. I can't handle either of them now no matter how they care prepared. Try experimenting with things you didn't enjoy before. I've found myself loving fish! I didn't not like fish before, but I'm now craving it. Shell fish too! Mmmm!
  5. 1/4 of pound?? Why, that sounds like dust motes on the scale lol Girl you will be fine! Is your scale in the same spot? My weight can fluctuate 1-3 pounds depending on the spot of the floor. I've made sure I keep it in the same tile all the time.
  6. I find tweezing in the car is the best place... All that natural light shows what you miss indoors... I'm horrified some days when I take a peek and see everything I missed!
  7. I hadn't had a period in over three months because of PCOS when I had my surgery. PCOS is also the biggest reason I decided to have this surgery. When my period came two days after coming home from the hospital I rejoiced! How weird is that!?!?
  8. My nutritionist has me mix my Protein shakes with 1% milk. I don't think I could manage to drink them if I was mixing it with Water. Yes- the milk adds some fats and carbs (which our bodies need anyway) but the milk also adds some more protein as well. Bottoms up! lol
  9. I have a VLOG and a blog. www.youtube.com/madamdanyell www.daniellehinds.blogspot.com
  10. At first I noticed my facial hair growing faster (dumb PCOS)... I'm not sure if it has slowed down yet or not. I believe more people don't start losing hair until about three months out. (I'm three weeks.) I do plan to buy a product from QVC called the Tria to help with the hair in places I don't want it. The reviews on it are positive enough that I'm willing to risk the money trying it. It isn't FDA approved for the face in the USA but in Europe it is.
  11. The three month process for me was filled with an inner peace because of my decision to have this surgery. Then I finally got the ok from insurance and I had a total melt down that night. It was a lot going through me mind. The unknown is scary! I cried so bad that night my sister held me and let me soak the front of her shirt! I even cried as they wheeled me into the operating room a little. It's okay to be scared and nervous- but don't let it scare you away. Today I am three weeks post op and down twenty-seven pounds since surgery! I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!
  12. Hey there girlie- I'm a white girl but man o man let me tell you I enjoy food from every freakin culture there is lol (well, minus the spicy). Welcome to VST- it has been a life saver for me! Good luck on your journey and don't be afraid to ask questions.
  13. I'd let your doctor know. The first few days for me I would chew ice chips and popsicle. For some reason doing those things were just easier for me then sipping. Also try doing different temperatures.. Ice cold, hot tea, room temperature.... I have found that at different times different temperatures work better for me. Also, if you are allowed it try jello. Those are all items that aren't "liquid" but count as fluids. Good luck!
  14. Aww Good luck to you. I hope you feel better!
  15. I have made the mistake of drinking with some of my meals. I didn't conquer that particular issue well before surgery. It's painful. Also, not drinking with meals is for life
  16. I'm already able to take one or two "gulps". I can take more then that but my doctor asked me not to so I don't stretch anything. Eventually we will be able to drink normally again. I believe my nutritionist said after about 6 months.
  17. This time of year I really like to pause for a moment and think about all of the blessings in my life. This year the biggest blessing has been all the support I've had during this exciting adventure. Support has come from virtual friends, as well as real life friends and family. I am so thankful for both!! The last 4 months of my life have been an amazing journey and thank you to all of you who have followed my progress. Also, thank you to those who have shared your journey and successes with me. May you all have an amazing Christmas with your families- and a happy, wonderful, healthy New Year! Love,
  18. Thanks guys. I went with the prime rib skillet. Two bites of meat (super moist and tender), and three bites of an egg and I was done. I'm not a very big egg eater as prior to surgery they weren't something that agreed well with me. It was weird at first watching my sisters plow through an appetizer but over all I just had fun having all of us together- it is so rare for that to happen now that we are all older. Merry Christmas all!
  19. So every Christmas Eve my sisters and I (four in all) get together around 9:00 and we play Monopoly until midnight and then we go out to eat at Denny's. Well, this year is obviously going to be a bit different for us as I can't eat the way they can. I'm a little nervous. I feel like I've spent the last hour going over every meal option on their website. I think I'm going for the prime rib skillet.. It has a lot of Protein. It's high on the carbs- but I won't really be eating the stuff with carbs in it. Just mainly the meat and eggs. Or there is a shrimp skewer- but to be honest I'm really tired of shrimp! I really wanted the oatmeal with fresh fruit mixed in but it just didn't seem like a smart choice.... How did you guys handle going out for the first time? What do you guys recommend for eating out?
  20. I gag at the thought of chicken broth, thankfully I can manage ok with the protein powders. I've made jello with the protein powder before surgery to try it. It worked out well, I used a vanilla flavored powder with a cherry flavor jello. I wouldn't have known their was protein powder in it if I hadn't made it!
  21. Mentally I think it is a bit harder than physically. I had surgery 12/5/11 and find that my sleeve takes care of the physical side of things for me. I haven't found it too hard to give up anything besides Mountain Dew and popcorn... And honestly the soda needed to go anyway. Eventually I will be able to have popcorn again and be in control of how much I eat! Nothing that I have experienced has been enough to make me regret my decision. To date I am down 27 pounds since surgery and 37 since the start of this journey. That's almost 40 pounds gone in 3.5 months! Who wouldn't be happy with that?
