  1. I too live alone so easier to do. It all reminds me of when I had babies, making milk and preparing baby foods etc etc. I have made a huge bean soup, with butter swash and seasonsings and mashed it all up n strained it into liquid enough to make 2 quarts. The thing with the soups, it makes you feel like you eating great adult food. and very satisfying. Feels good on the tummy asl well. Beans are great for you. so try to fix a good meal and make enough carry you through. My 1st fill is Jan 24,,, hang in there!!
  2. I was banded Dec22 and I am in same boat -gurgling, side pain, and do not pick up that lint on the floor! cause it will hurt, sitting in front of PC kinda uncomfortable too, I figure all the brusing and swelling inside,,, slow n easy, some faster healers than others, I still have my bruise when they drew blood pre- op! Hang in there,,,
  3. My suggestion is prepare lots of " your foods" I bought 2 dozen small plastic containers and filled them up with jello or jello and yogurt parfait, green pea soup, onion soup, and today making black bean soup and maybe some squash soup and it will be at my fingertips. Yest I took 4 of these and my milkshake on my shopping trip etc and my kids bought me a nice lunch bag- and I ate the same way I would have fed my babies 40 yrs ago, every 3/4 hours. I think preparation helps.
  4. I am planning on making "tamale a la quasela". cuban food, or kinda a tamale pie but not really. Its like making some cream of wheat but corn masa and adding some white boiled chicken, seasoning and chicken broth and cooking it well on stove. then 1/2 cup max if that much im working on 1/3 cup for a dinner-- you can make it mushy, hard and thick or add veggies or bacon, ham what ever- it is just a base meal... the question is- does the corn swell up like white flour?
  5. Lots of tea, water, jello, onion soup, protein drinks and watery green pea soup- all decaf all sugar free..
  6. Why so much? Basic is $75.00 at hospt and i was given a discount if i paid at pre-op I said SURE and paid like $56. My surgeon will bill me my $150 and the hospital will then submit to the insurance co and see what they will pay then I can see what I can pay after that. Unless you have a prior wls and other things need to happen. You need to call FEPBLUE, it should be same for all of us. there is no deductible with Basic. being you starting in a new year. I was banded Dec 22, in FL. but fepblue is same for all of us.
  7. Are we NOT supposed to drink water with food or is that later? I'm still wobbly headed. ( band Dec 22) I start my mushies tomorrow no,,, my purrees? noo wait.. ohhh it's FULL liquids,, darn... I was ready to start mashing me some food! So I guess more milkshakes (per Dr) and watery soups. sigh, well I bought a little strainer to thin all out. This too shall pass.
  8. I'm sticking with the soup and next week the baby foods, came too far now, to have damage. and Holidays has been hard but at least I was on drugs lol. I mostly slept throught it - with my family all enoying that huge dinner. The different kinds of broth like french onion and pea soup etc to me has been much better than the cubes in hot water. Bought a little strainer- does the trick. Good luck every one, you jump off- jump back in quick !
  9. So if you eat stronger foods beforehand, will it not help expand the pouch they want to keep small? Seem to me, the stomach is alike a baloon, and if it shrinks back, with all this liquid small amount diet, when they fill you should be easier as the baloon is smaller? what do I know? I know im on liquids still, but saw Dr and told him i was on green pea soup and ready for black bean soup and he was ok with that, just 1/3 cup.??
  10. they fixed my hernia and if they don't tell you, you wouldn't know the difference,so do not worry about it
  11. day 3 im feeling better today less nauseous and less back pain// ready for a coffee, but will just do Cristal light- im still very drugged up- stayed over night because could not wake up,, i don't do well being put to sleep. still just knock out every hour zzz be glad when the drugs are out,,
  12. How we doing?? I just got back on here, been busy preparing. Tom is my day.... whoo whoo
  13. DEC 22 here I go- I am glad you are posting your pureed foods or hard liquids what ever, I wrote it down. Since I have not had many carbs-- I have many senior moments! air head is my new title! Tomorrow pre-op appt have only lost 7 lbs and that's nakid,,, so lets see what happens tomorrow. BE a great Christmas!
  14. I dont know but I have heard of a liver breaking or tearing I should say and having to to a full surgery vs a laperscopic. So I'd call Drs office, Every body is different. Through 2 endoscopies and xrays etc I know my liver is a bit puffy, so hanging in there with diet, and pushing that water
  15. A good time is coming, I wish it were here, The very best time in many a year; I'm counting each day on my fingers and thumbs 2 weeks of milkshakes and one cup of hot broth. I finally get weighed for the scary pre-op, But the nurses all smile and write on my chart, I'll not mind the pain, even if my tummy still growls For it brings the time nearer when MY band will be on. Better than cookies with tinsel and glimmer My Christmas cheer, will come -when I see I am thinner!

Great news, tomorrow we are to have our Christmas luncheon. There will be some seviche there so that;s what I will have. It's white fish with lime and onions etc so no carbs or oil. I think I'll have to give up two shakes for it. I hope it will kick start me again to loosing a few more lbs. before Monday the preop appointment.
