  1. Rest 5 days minimum. lots of water and walking and for me the milk of magnesia rid me of all the other pains I was having the 1st 2 weeks... anyhow CONGRATS!!!
  2. In the begenning certains foods hurt more than others to digest. I guess your tummy is tender and heavy foods do not go down so well. I have a problem still with any cream cheese,,, it sits in my stomach- seems like forever.
  3. I have been using flat bread as well. and I love the wafer thin rye and marble breads. I toast them well. works great
  4. I think loosing slow and steady is better all the way around. Everybody will loose differently, but as long as you are making progress. I do not want my gall bladder removed from loosing too much at once. I am now looking at 185 the last 4 days... it was stuck at 187 but wala... dropped two someplace. and I am happy for that. I am learning --and my body is adjusting.
  5. May they take good care of you and all go extra well. It will be great. Keep your expectations level, takes a few days to get self right. You will do fatastic!
  6. I have heard some Dr.s get pretty loud if they think the patient is not following instructions. Eating bad calories and grazing and maybe not exercising more. Mine never yelled at me and at my 1st fill i had lost inches but only 2 lbs- he was happy with that, I was afraid it was not enough. But the nurses have scared me that he would NOT do surgery if I didnt push myself away from my old habits, so it took extra effort, and I made it. 6lbs lost during pre-op and by my scale, down 2 more lbs - thats all. Watch your salt and water intake and just keep plugging along, it will happen. And tell the DR exactly what you are eating and doing.
  7. I only know this poor person is in distress and scared- she just feels at this moment she may save you from same experience- give her a break,,, you happy with your band, great =I am too- but I also understand some are suffering and her telling you NOT to get one, will only change the minds of those not sure of what they really want to do. Again their decision. She just givng her experience apparently from another country. Hope things go well for you honey.
  8. I questioned my decision with some issues I was having, pain, gas and constipation, but since I have learned how to eat, what to eat and what to expect, it's getting better all the time. I seem to have finally broke those 2 lbs that were keeping me from loosing weight, so I am happy. I saw my grands today and my picky g-daughter told me my face n neck look so much better and not like a chicken lol. So, my efforts are working!!
  9. I learned to use lemon or cooking wine since forever. not sure if it was because salt was in other or not, and my dad suffered w high BP- so my mom always used cookign wines, and lemons on fish and chickens.
  10. Haters that are against you bettering your self in ANY way get a check off list of my book- I do not have time for them. I mostly know who they are beforehand, but some times you get surprised. and then you dont have to stand up for yourself or give an explanation- walk away and save yourself the stress of an unwanted comeback. Haters are unhappy folks, and you will not change them. This is your life, and your best decision for self, nobody needs to explain it, unless maybe it is for mom or dad who may fear for you in some way and you just calm them with an explanation.
  11. panniculectomy is covered by insurance? I thought no way. there must be a way it must be presented?
  12. http://drsimpson.net/weight-loss/Lap-band-tests/portion-size/Lap-band-portion-size.htm I came across this website and it was very interesting to know that the band is for your mind to know its full by the thing being on that particular part of the stomach. Its got some good questions and answers. I think by that, I have a hard head!

    HUrrahh!!!
  14. Im anxious to hear the answers too- if i did not see the scars - i dont know I have a band, but I know it's early in the game, only one fill. Some days I feel something tightening but mostly nothing. I only buy the best foods to eat and try to keep that 1/2 cup in my mind. So no junk foods, etc and portion control -but waiting for the red flags and whistles to say " STOP FULL - WARNING- OVERFILL- STOP, BAND has reached it's maximum capacity!! warning!! bahh bahh - hmm-- maybe I watch too many movies? I think people have said if you strech the pouch etc you feel sick somehow? Hope you gets lots of answers.
  15. Its an issue for me, but trying to drink the water and maybe do a softner, or just a little milk of magnesia,,, so much protein , no fat and limited veggies, and fruit. it can be a game to figure out what best works for ya.
  16. I bought childrens as well, maybe cvs? wallgreens, guess you can call
  17. I was supposed to go same day, but was too groggy and went next day at lunch. there is this 23 hour outpatient rule, that is you leave before then, you are not really charged for the next day.
  18. I had all sorts of pain- upper back, left isde kidneys,, it was constipation, if you sure you are OK there, call the DR- I took the milk of magnesia and had NO clue I was so constipated from surgery meds and protiens etc... 2 days later was a new woman.
  19. Rem now all the pain meds should be out of your body, so your body will actually feel this surgery. You may be increasing soft foods etc and the digestive system is not ready for that quiet yet. I found out I was super constipated with proteins and meds and I took the milk of magnesia. Once it worked, it relieved me of back pain port pain and left side pain. just that simple, but I did not know that is what caused my problem.
  20. I think many of us loose then we freeze. If you look under the topic "frustrated", we all seem to be on the same boat. I think the body wants what it wants and will not give it up until it has no chance holding on, then you loose the weight. Steady as it goes, until you break that barrier.
  21. Started going to the gym and I hurt all over but no weight loss. I think it will just come off when the conditions are right. For me probaly summer.. pools, beach, sweat! even though doing the gym, i still feel like a winter bear in hibernation
  22. I lost 23 lbs over all but even though I have had one fill and started jumpin at the gym, the weight still kinda stuck, dropped 2 lbs, since, but not much else, about ready to go on milkshakes again? I know my metabolism is slow and not feeding it, it will just stop burning calories. Been down the same road many times. Only thing I hope, is the Zumba classes will hit that plateau, and crank the body up again. I am so ready for summer, I am non-stop in hot weather.
  23. I did mess up and ate one meat empanada about 1 week post surgery i had pain all night and it finally digested, stayed on my plan since that day. It was not a big empanada, maybe 1/2 cup of food just type of food- way too heavy. Been good ever since.
  24. backing off any caffeine it hell. headaches sick feeking drug down so werd but true,,, wean OFF
  25. many variables, age, skin tone, kids, how much weight you had vs height and how active. I think sitters like me- who sit all day at work, have it worse, but working on that at the gym.
