Thyroid Issues
I’m 9 mo out GS. Slow weight loss, achy n tired. One gym run I’m done for the day. Blood work showed one part of thyroid test low. I read that with sleeve should crush your pill. I on genetic Synthroid . Called the Dr for instructions, not heard back. By next week calling a endocrinologist for an appointment. Very disappointed. So much can do, retired, and have time and place, just no energy ? any tricks ?

Stall
Takes time for the body to adjust. I started to lose after 3 months. Then stall and now I’m loosing again. Metabolism, water, medication , too much food, too little food, hormones, all play into and and everyone is different. Trust the process and you will start to see changes.

Pain When Eating - NOT Stomach Pain
When I first got sleeved mashed potatoes was my thing. Everything went in that bowl. One thing is true, you change. Things I ate before - ugh, things I thought could not eat, I do great. One good I can always count on. hamburgers. Easy peasy, no bread. Can’t eat pickles. Chicken so so. I can’t do sausages. None. Some eat everything I can’t. Can’t eat cake. What may have air or greasy or won’t break down, can’t do. I do spring mix salads. No romaine or iceberg. No cucumbers. I can eat eggs, some can’t. Expect changes. I don’t do plain water often, but when I do. It’s a sip or hits like a log in my tummy.

Pain When Eating - NOT Stomach Pain
I get pain when eat too fast or too much. Some foods like bread, rice or mashed potatoes omg —-ouuu. Quick relief. Gas X carry it everywhere. But portions are very important. Slow down eat in portions. Italians, take alll day to eat. Start at 7 and end at 11 pm. Think that way. Eat. Stop n then maybe eat more in 5 min. I only use little plates at home. No straws and slow in the drinking . Gulping is pain. GS 07/22.

Mind Body Energy disconnect
I too am suffering with fatigue. One pool exercise routine and I’m exhausted but not every day. Some days getting up is a challenge. I don’t like cold, so hope it’s that. I walked two miles one evening, it was great, but next morning was exhausted. Blood work seems ok. Yes I’m 70, but this is weird. I read some COVID patients experience this much later. I can’t seem to get answers. I take my multi vitas, Protein, vitamin B12 and Vita D 50K per week. Go to gym almost every day for pool or walk, bike, so trying to build muscle. Slow looser. Sleeve last July. Lost 30 lbs so far, so it’s not that I’m depleted. Ughh

May 2022 surgery?
Medicare pays a lot of it. Between my private ins and Medicare it’s probably pretty much free. Can’t wait ?

Psychology appt anxious
They only want to make sure you won’t go screaming out the surgery room when you have the cup put over your mouth. Or really have issues of depression etc where could not handle a major surgery that is life changing.

July buddies?
I have the last dietitian appt June 20 / the GP, Ins approval n last appt w Surgeon. I’m thinking all should be done by July. Hope so! The 5 lbs as weight lost?
-
Psychology appt anxious
I got more questions doing a survey from my bank. I answered some basic questions. Family history etc My expectations for the weight loss. My concerns or fears of surgery or not being able to eat. If had support system and other surgeries etc that was that. 45 min of small talk. Don’t worry - they are more concerned of your attitude about a major surgery. Everyone is nervous.

May 2022 surgery?
Good for you! I’m 69 and 1/2 way through the process hoping for July surgery. 3 mo of dietitian is required by my Medicare Ins. I am having some set backs with the gym - achy muscles n trips to the chiropractor’s office, amd no weight loss, but still moving forward with cutting out bad foods n portion control. There are quite a few videos on weight loss diets on YouTube, but the Dr will give you a pkg of instructions. Good luck, at least in my location, there’s quite a few “ over 65” surgeries. They look great !

June 2022 surgery buddies
If have Insurance, it is more like $30,000. I don’t pay that, it’s what they charge them. I’ve seen the bills. They negotiate after that. Medicare pays most if the procedure n hospital stay in Fl. And my other BCBS ins will cover the rest. I’m ok for that part of it. As retired, I see the shakes and vita waters etc are expensive. Guess it’s only a couple of months, hopefully. ??Mexico has great Drs. I’d be more worried about traveling, but some handle that pretty good. Good luck to all, my last dietician is June 16, crossing fingers - my surgery be in July.

So fed up
How’s the exercises going ? And water intake ? I had a lap band yrs ago and I remember periods if nothing - the body becomes accustomed to the routines. I ate bit more and changed all the exercise routines and I started loosing again. Now I’m on my way to getting a G Sleeve and remembering my past challenges.

Recent Injury Rant
Lemons ? So let’s make lemonade? Turn on the musics and dance. Even if sitting down. Just do it where it’s safe and it does not hurt. There are many routines you can do with the help of a sturdy chair. It won’t be long - you will bounce back. I just started and hurt my back with Zumba. I’m ok now and will try something else until I’m string enough.

Pain after surgery
I mentioned the pain pills because in some other forums, I’ve heard Drs don’t like them and are not prescribing for this type of surgery.
-
Pain after surgery
Chewable gas ex. Sipping Warm/ hot water, peppermint tea, and walking. I liked warm showers, make sure you protect the areas around the wounds. I used plastic wrap n surgical tape. That warm water on your back feels great. No tub. I had to do this for lap band in, then gall bladder removal, lap band out, and now setting up for gastric sleeve. Are they no longer giving out anything for pain? Maybe the type of surgery makes the difference. Good luck.

Over night stay at hospital. Yay or nay
Woot woot. May it all go well and as planned !

Over night stay at hospital. Yay or nay
Usually can stay 23 hrs for observation and not pay for hospital bill. I’m 69 Fri and live alone, so to each what they are comfortable with and Drs advise. We are all different.
