Almost One Day Post-Op

I am awake for a bit and hoping to get back to sleep soon. Surgery went well. I didn't go in until 11:00 tor my surgery at ten. I was out at 12:15 and woke up about two in recovery. Turns out I had a hiatal hernia, so it was repaired. I was sent for my x-ray a short while later. The tech confused me with another patient and asked me why my surgeon did a sleeve instead of a band????!!? I was so confused, but she realized her error and quickly cleared it up. I got to my room and my hubby wad there. :) I ass given pain meds and things to sip. I was discharged around five and got home shortly after. I did over exert myself walking and getting in and out of the car too much. I also have quite a big of gas pains and I cant lie on my back.. which is not too bad since I am a side sleeper. But overall I am doing well.

LAP-BAND Patients

Glad you are doing well! I can't imagine having gone home the same day. I wanted to stay at the hospital for 2 nights instead of just the one! I dunno if I would have been able to not stay in the hospital at all. The pain pump is the only thing that got me through that first day and night. I wasn't even allowed to drink anything - even a sip of water- until after my barium swallow the next day.

Wow, I would have freaked out on the person who made that mistake! It would have made me worried sick that the doctor actually did do something other than I was supposed to have done! It happens way too often, so I woulda freaked.

Hope you keep feeling better and better, sweetie! Good luck!

LAP-BAND Patients

Glad to hear you are doing okay, I wish I did my surgery out patient, I was 1 night in the hospital and it was the WORSE! The lady next to me had a bad time with the anesthesia and was up all night throwing up. Also I was not happy with sharing a bathroom.

This is your time to heal, relax, and let someone else take care of you (I know it's tough!)

Welcome to the life of a bandster! :)

LAP-BAND Patients

well, welcome to the post op club! I am on my 8th day

since I got banded... and I will say that with each

passing day life gets better and better. The pain does

subside, the gas does get less and less, the nausea will

pass...and don't be surprised if you don't immediately

lose weight.. my body retained water.. but by the 6th

and 7th day i began losing. I've already gone back to

work.. I found walking around and standing up helped to

ease the gas and the pain.. but take it easy and good

luck

It seems as though the smallest things make me worn out. Talking on the phone, walking to the kitchen....Today is really a day of rest for me.

Even talking is a too much for me! It leaves me breathless. I am walking and trying to rest. I could only get down half of a 12 ounce shake today.
