  1. Wow oh wow. You sound like me. One thing I have learned big time is to let FAILURE be your TEACHER, not your UNDERTAKER.. I have learned so much about my relationship to food. I didn't even understand I had a relationship to food before I learned it from this site. A lot of relationships are unhealthy and rob you of real happiness. Those relationships usually are driven by self serving, self centered, and a controlling partner. Well my relationship to food was one of compulsion. It was an unhealthy relationship that controlled me and robbed me of my happiness. I centered on food and was driven by it. That relationship lasted for 4 years after the band. Talk about Failure ! Thanks to you, whom first reached out to me and encouraged me when I first found this site and asked for help I have a new resolve and committment to this Band. I am respecting it and all it can and will do for me. I now have a "relationship " with my band. I have acknowledged my band as my healthy partner. That is what I would encourage you to do with me. Find that partnership once again and resolve to commit yourself to healthy eating. I am hanging in there with you. Let's do it inspite of Holidays. Blessings Dolly
  2. Super Job... How encouraging to the rest of us. You are so helpful to remind us all that hard work pays off. Blessings Dolly
  3. After two weeks of eating healthy foods and feeling the physical benefits, the above statement shouts it's truths to my energized mind and body. A balanced diet is not a cookie in each hand as I use to subscribe to. I know ,dear members, during this Holiday Weekend we are going to be tempted with all the trappings of failure as we encounter the riches of Christmas candies, pies, puddings and general Christmas treats. I am going to call this food group "tainted". I will not even consider eating "tainted" meat. It is poison to your system. And so it is with tempting Holiday treats. They are poison to our goals and resolve. If we label this food group as "TAINTED" , we will be less likely to succumb to it's temptation. This battle we fight is very much mental and I fight it with mental strategys. I hope this one will help you over the Holiday festivities. Blessings. Dolly

  5. I am new to this site and I love it too. I'm afraid to ask this, for I feel I probably shoud know, but what is "onederland"? That is great that you have the mind set to make healthy choices still . Good work. Blessings. Dolly
  6. You are doing all the right things and others can learn from you. You really do have to listen and feel what the band is telling you. I also have a hard time eating meat. But I look at that as a good thing, because it takes a long time and that is also a good thing. Small bites are essential and chewing and chewing and chewing. lol I find Meat ,(mostly turkey and chicken) really stick to my ribs. And therefore I am not prone to getting hungry as quickly. Also I have found eating sliced , turkey or chicken that you buy in the packaged lunch meat section is easier to digest than cooking up a chicken. I think it is because it is moister. Just make sure it is no fat. Mine is 10 calories a slice. Wrap a slice or two around a sliver of pickle and sliver of cheese and you have a great low calorie, long lasting snack. Blessings Dolly
  7. Good for you.. Your enthusiasim is great! And that is a big part of success so keep it coming. Blessings. Dolly
  8. I can say that is my desire now. For a long time it was the opposite. I would have choosen a warm gooey cinnamon bun just about over anything. When I put on my underwear and the fruit of the loom guys started laughing, I was not detered one bit from thinking or eating all the sweet gooey junk I could get my hands on.. And this my frilends was with the lap band.. But that was where I was at. I am on the road and truly committed to making healthy choices of what to eat. I am making soups out of vegetables and beans. Caseroles out of yams, apples, pears, and oranges, for a sweet dish. And salads with balsamic vinegar. With smaller portions and healthy ingredients, add some exercise, and I am looking forward to those buns of steel. lol... One of my member friends, "Bardy" replyed to may last blog with encouragement. There was one thing she said concerning the band that struck me.. I quote her, "we need to respect it" For 4 wasted years I did not "respect " the band. I over rode it and wouldn't let it work for me. When you "respect" something, or someone, you tend to listen to it, them. You keep company with it or them and share in a relationship with it or them. I did none of those things. Now it is different. I do have a working relationship to my band. I have even named her. "Bandi". he he.. Yep , things have changed. Just this morning when putting my underwear on, those fruit of the loom fellas barley snickered. lol... Give Respect, Get Respect... Blessings Dolly

Super good job ! This is super encouraging to us members who are just begining to choose to let the lap band work for and with them. . I don't know why you can't see the difference in the mirror. A 100 lbs. is a lot of "difference". Bless your heart, you had to have a whole lot of discipline and commitment for this kind of result. I am confident you will find the resolve you need. You obviously have the head knowledge, now you need the hearts desire to lose that last 50 lbs. You can do IT. Blessings. Dolly
  10. Other than that e mail from my son ,this site has been the biggest help to my resolve. It has so much informatin in the forums which made me really look at myself and my relationship to food. Which was one of compulsion. Never really understood I had a relationship to food before I got on this site. It got me to discoverying and understanding my unhealthy relationship to food. Like most unhealthy relationships I was mostly consumed by it with my time, energy and exspenses. Crazy I know. Anywho, with the support and encouragement of the members on this site I have left this relationship of destruction in my life and CHOSEN a new kind of relationship to food. One where it no longer controls me but I control it. Maybe this wll help you as it did me.. That will be my prayer for you as you seek to regain your resolve to fight this fight of flab. lol Blessling. Dolly

That sounds so painful. I am so sorry this happened. I never had anything like that with my band and never heard of a side effect such as this. I am glad you have found relief with this new doctors treatment. Blessings Dolly
  12. That's a great out look. Keep being devoted and excited for the "new you". It will surely come with the added boost of the lapband. Blessings Dolly
  13. Than It Hit Me !.... lol That is how I felt when I looked at myself in the mirror. I kept getting bigger and bigger. Even with the band I kept getting bigger and bigger. Then I had that experience of getting hit. And oh the pain. It came in the form of a heartfelt letter from my darling adult son. You know when someone throws a Frisbee at you and you put your hands up either to defend yourself or to catch it, but you miscaculate and the Frisbee "Clunks" off your head.? Well that was like the experience I felt when I read his letter and then talked to him. I sort of tried to put up a defence but I got 'CLUNKED" in the head and heart. It woke me up real good and gave me resolve, determination and commitment. So what I am saying is that some times a good "clunk" from a Frisbee, or what ever, can be a good thing if it wakes you up and gets you going in the right direction. I am so grateful and actually proud to report I am doing great ! Blessings Dolly
  14. I have had the band for 4 years, lost the inital 50lbs and let my compulsion for food take over my life once again. I have a new level of commitment that I have never had before and now am allowing the band to work for me. The fact that you are "determined" is a huge step. I had neither determination or commitment which are absolutely necessary. I would suggest another fill and do what you know worked for you in the beginning. Like you said , "you just need to get back on track". This site has helped me more than I could have ever imagined. So stay posted and let the members encourage you and give you helpful suggestions and support. This site also gives you accountability, which is so very important as well. Blessings Dolly
  15. Yep, the band is doing it's thing and that is good. Remember not to drink just before or after you eat or you wash the food through more quickly. And that makes you hungry sooner. Now comes the part of figuring out how to let the band work for and with you. Blessings
  16. Remarkable. You encourage the rest of us who are working hard to change. Bless your heart !
  17. You are so right about the worth of a pound. That makes it more significant when we lose one. Or gain one for that matter. Can't wait to lose another one. Thank you for the perspective of all our work. Keep at it everyone ! Blessing Dolly
  18. Bless your heart. I hear your pain and hopelessness and I am so sorry. There is some very good advice from the previous members above. They are caring people. I have found this site is full of people who want the best for others and reach out to help. I have looked at it as God reaching out to give hope and answers when we haven't any. He meets our needs in the most remarkable ways. My prayer support will be with you as I know are others. Blessings Dolly
  19. I agree with Bardy. I have had my band on for 4 yrs. I stopped allowing the band to work for me after the initial bliss wore off.. The consequences was as yours. Gain Gain Gain... Did I mentioned I gained weight? lol I have recognized my compulsion to eat as my relationship to food is being revealed. . The band still works great when I allow it to. The band never left me , I left it and all it could do for me. I think the same for your band.. It is still there waiting for you to use it. So get it filled and find that determination and mind set that allowed you to lose the weight you had. You will find a new apprectiation and a gratitude for your band and this helpful site. Blessings Dolly
  20. That is the magic of the lap band process.and this site. It brings about change when we allow it to work for us. It has been one whole week of renewed determination to allow the band and site to work with me. And the Changes that have occured are remarkable. No, I don't have a weight loss number to give you. Tho I know that will come. What has changed are things more of the heart, head and spirit. Reading and responding to many members on this site has been life changing. You have deepend my resolve. Many of you have already experienced the physical change and that is exciting and encouraging to me. Can't wait for some of that change to be noticeable on me. So thank you all , and Stick with it. $CHANGE IS A COMIN $
  21. Hi there, I think you have done really awesome.. I think motivation is kind of a personal thing. What motivates me, may not motivate another..ONE hat has helped me to no end is this site and reading peoples comments, replys and blogs. I try to learn something from each one. I have even learned much from others admitted failures., I have learned through the members not to beat myself up so much. That a new spurt of motivation comes with new determination and resolve for success. I learned we are in a battle and that we may lose a round or two but that complete victory is attainable. We just need to stay in the fight. Part of the fight i believe is to stay in touch with this site as part of your excercise program. It's a mind, soul and spirit excercise that helps strengthen your motivation. Okay now, Put up you dukes and battle. Blessings Dolly

That kind of thinking is Awesome. A New Turn. I like that. I'm incorporating it into propelling myself around the next corner. I love the fact that we learn from each other on this site. That story of forgiveness was so good. It amazes me how God can turn lemon into lemonaide. People all to often blame God for the bad things that happen, (Even our body weight or shape.) But it is "bad" people making "bad" choices that result in pain and suffering . God is there to "change" us. Weather it's to change peoples hearts, or to change the hurting , the suffering ,and assaulted . Only He can take a story of such horrific abuse and give another a hope and answer from it. He is the Life Changer of all Life Changers. Blessings Dolly
  24. That success is so encouraging to me. Thank you for sharing with all of us.
  25. Your doing great. And doing what you do not like, is showing real committment . Good Job . That made me ask myself that questions. Am I doing the things I do not like in an effort to be successful ? That is a good question for all of us to reckon with. It will show our resolve and committment . Keep up the good work, it's inspiring for the rest of us. Blessings Dolly
