  1. Dr. Aceves had us do 10 days clear liquid 10 days full liquid then 10 days of mushies. I think it's pretty common to do an acid reducer for a period of time.
  2. wow, sorry to hear you had a rough time of it. I hope you're feeling much better really soon.
  3. I am leaving the chat window open in case anyone wants to talk. I will hear the door bell ring.
  4. I just don't keep junk food in the house. In the evening when I want to snack, I have sf popsicles, sf fudgesicles, sf pudding, or sf Jello. I would have to go to the store if I really wanted something else. I am plain just too lazy. Plus I am on this forum every evening, and that takes my mind off eating. Now, when I go to a friend's house, I am in trouble. She keeps every kind of candy bar you can think of in her house and I can't resist temptation. It doesn't seem to hurt me though, if I fall off the wagon occasionally.
  5. Hope that spot on your leak test turns out to be nothing. Glad you are recovering and in a nice comfy place.
  6. Best of luck for a speedy recovery. You'll be so excited when that scale starts moving down!
  7. I have never heard of that. I have always been told to use calcium citrate, not calcium carbonate and that we absorb that just fine.
  8. sometimes our bodies just want to get used to the new weight. I always lost a few then hit plateau, then lost a few again. I never lost every single week other than the clear liquid stage.
  9. You and me both Ruthi. I am starting ball room dancing classes soon. I am excited to start that.
  10. That sounds like a good plan Vegas. It would be good to be on a cruise with people who all ate like we do.
  11. Duodenal switch is the first part to the sleeve.
  12. In the evenings, I want to snack. I don't usually have head hunger until the evenings and then I have a sf popsicle or fugdesicle, or sf pudding. I don't keep anything like chips or candy, other sweets, etc. in the house. There are some foods that the sleeve just won't let you overeat. Things like chips go down pretty easily, so I just don't keep them around.
  13. I don't know how long the surgery took. I was asleep! I think it took about an hour and another hour in the recovery room. I was in the hospital 3 days. Dr. Aceves does 3 leak tests. I was bored in the hospital because I felt fine, but I was glad to be in there even though Dr. Aceves has never had a leak. It's comforting to know if you do have any complications, you're in the right place.
  14. I had mine done at the same time too. I think people have to have it done separately if their stomach is damaged from the band and needs to heal before the sleeve can be done.
  15. Oh Tiff, I am so happy for you. I know you've been waiting to hit onederland.
  16. That's so cool Tiff! You are very brave to tell people like that. I am always afraid of negative comments so I never told anyone.
  17. No, I don't think it's the same at all. With the band it usually stays stuck until it comes back up. With the sleeve, it feels stuck for a few seconds, then you can feel it go down.
  18. Where do you get this folicure shampoo? Do you think it makes your hair dry? I was using Nioxin but it seemed like it was drying out my hair. I used it from day one after surgery, and it didn't seem to help. My hair is falling out like crazy.
  19. Sounds like a lot of people had the same problem with the band that I did. I never had trouble with anything in the daytime, but in the middle of the night, it was another story. I am so glad not to be throwing up in the middle of the night.
  20. Hope the scrambled egg goes down well. I've heard others say they have had trouble with eggs. I am sure you must be so excited to eat something new!
  21. Thank goodness Dr. Aceves has never had a leak. I know complications are very expensive, but I trusted him so much, I wasn't worried about complications.
  22. I think it's important to keep track of both. I keep the carbs down because carbs make me crave more carbs. Dr. Aceves likes us to eat around 800 calories per day.
  23. I was hungry after surgery when I was on Clear liquids. Once I moved to full liquids, it was gone. Now I can go hours and hours and not feel hungry.
  24. It just amazes me that insurance companies are willing to pay for banding at all with all the problems people are having. I feel bad for you, but I wanted that band out of me bad enough that I self paid. It was the best money I could have spent.
  25. I shopped a lot in the thrift stores. I have found clothes that were like brand new for $2. I wore clothes that were huge on me until I lost about 40 lbs and they were literally falling off me. It's so much fun when people keeping making comments on weight loss. I have really been at this weight for over 2 years because I lost it with the band and then got revision, but people still ask me if I am still losing weight. I am lucky that I hate to shop or I would be spending a lot of money.
