  1. So do I Chancie. I live in the middle of nowhere, and it's really hard to meet people in my age group. I wish I had a friend to go to listen to Kareoke sp? . I think that would be fun. Everywhere around here, the places are filled up with the 21-30 age group. I hate the thought of being old alone too. There are all the online dating sites, but the same guys who all seem to be losers have been on these sites for the past few years. I was with my bf for a year, and now that I have gone back to looking online, it's all the same guys that were there before I met him. It's depressing.
  2. I think I am going to go to my local heath food store and see if they can order fage for me.
  3. I think you will be happy with the sleeve Manatee. It's little hard to learn in the beginning just how little you can eat, but it does get better. There have been a few with a harder recovery due to hiatal hernias. I had mine repaired and had not trouble whatsoever with recovery or with any foods not working or being harder to eat. I did stay on liquids and mushies longer than I was told to, just because learning to eat solids took a little bit more time. Please let us know if you have any questions of if we can help in any way.
  4. We had hip hop dance classes at my gym and I absolutely loved them. I would love this too.
  5. Having the sleeve is nothing like having the band. You have restriction from day one of surgery. I am never hungry. I could not be happier to have that band out of me. Like you, I wish I had known about the sleeve first. I lost all my weight with the band but gained 15 back from having band problems and having to be completely unfilled. I lost that on the post op diet after sleeve surgery. It's been easy to maintain that and lose 8 more. I'd still like to lose a few more, but I am good with where I am if I don't. Living with the sleeve is a breeze.
  6. Careful. some doctors will make you pay something if you don't give them a 24 hour notice before you cancel.
  7. Spandex I tell ya! Panties with a little spandex instead of all nylon/ cotton blend will make them stay up and make it so you can wear them longer before changing sizes again.
  8. He had strange mannerisms, and said weird things. I also didn't appreciate that he said he didn't smoke, but as soon as lunch was over, out popped a cigarette. He doesn't have my phone # but he does have my email address. I am going to have to tell him smoking is a deal breaker for me.
  9. Your poor mom. That's difficult since the treatment for it is very hard on people. I know some people who have gone through it and they were miserable.
  10. Oh please report which movies you saw. I always need movie reviews. I want to rent something called vicky christina with Penelope Cruz. Ellen Degeneres was just talking about what a great movie it was, and I noticed when I looked it up that it won an academy award.
  11. Everyone is so busy on labor day that they don't have time to post? Unfortunately, I have a bad cold and I am not fit enough to be around other humans. I am so glad it's a holiday since I am sure not up to going to work. going to the dr. on Wed. which is a regularly scheduled appointment, but I am sure glad I have it. This coughing is wearing me out.
  12. I find the easiest way to navigate this board is to the top of the board and click on user CP. That will bring you to every thread you have posted in. Hope that helps someone. From there I usually go to new posts and see if there is anywhere else I want to add my 2 cents.
  13. Thanks Tiff. Maybe there is some hope . At this point I am kind of doubtful.
  14. my friend says the only way I am going to get over my last bf (actually, I am doing pretty well with that) was to meet someone new. She wanted me to meet a friend of hers. She sang his praises. I went to lunch with him and thought he was weird. Maybe I am picky. It's difficult at my age because guys in their late 50's look like little old men to me. This guy didn't look that way, but I thought he was odd. Maybe I'll just be alone the rest of my life. It took me 3 years of dating when I met Bill and called my daughter and said he's a keeper. All the rest, I had no desire to see a 2nd time. Can't wait for my ball room dancing classes to start. At least I will be doing something fun, but will be under no obligation to act attracted if I am not. Now my friend is going to be all excited and call me and ask me what I thought . I will have to pretend that I thought he was nice, just not my type, when honestly, I thought he was an odd ball.
  15. WasA refuses to post at this board anymore even though several people have emailed her and asked her to come back. People miss her and she knows it , but still refuses to post on this board. She has her own personal reasons.
  16. I don't remember what Dr. Aceves price for revision from band to sleeve is. I am positive it's less than $15,000 though. I am thinking it's $11,000. You would have to call the number to the right of the screen. They were running specials during the summer because it's so hot in Mexicali this time of year. If you want, I have a big long email with all of Dr. Aceves credentials on it that could ease the mind of your family.
  17. I am the same way. I eat out a lot. They always look at me like I am crazy when I say water no ice please. I drink a lot of water, but it's always room temp.
  18. Oh Mac I am glad to see you posting. I was afraid you were going to run off like Elisabeth and WasA.
  19. Tiff have you tried the soy slender? it's very thin like water and the flavor is not over bearing. It's not in the refrigerated section. It's on the shelf at the grocery store. I like the vanilla and choc both. I don't think they are overly sweet.
  20. Oh don't feel bad Tiff. I have hair all over the bathroom floor and counter and every time I wash my hair, I lose about 4 handfuls and I had not complications. You'll do fine Manatee. Just get that stinkin band out. It's the band that causes all these complications.
  21. I have heard other people say they have found Okios at Walmart. I don't know why my stupid walamrt only carries Brown cow brand.
  22. I am glad you got your sleeve and are happy with it. I am also glad you found our board. I went to Dr. Aceves without any family or anyone going with me. It was easy and problem free. I love my sleeve and I am really thankful that Dr.Aceves is such not only and excellent surgeon, but a great kind caring man that makes people so comfortable leaving the country to go and see him.
  23. Tuna will work for you again. When I first moved off liquids, I could only eat about 3-4 bites of anything no matter what it was.
  24. Tiff has a young boy in the house. I am sure he loves his crunch berries. I always tried to buy healthy cereal for my kids when they were little, but for a special treat, they loved getting crunch berries.
  25. So tell them you are going to San Francisco. They will never be the wiser. Honestly, I loved Mexicali. Dr. Campos is just adorable and Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos both come to see you in your room 3 times per day.
