Weekend Social Club
1. Any weekend plans? I have a friend who had a heart attack a couple of weeks ago at age 48. She is not cleared to drive yet or do much of anything really, so I will probably go to a movie with her. Sunday I have to go to a baby shower. 2. What (if any) challenges have you had this week? Dealing with Verizon this week has been a big challenge. I lost my cell and called to order one exactly like the one I lost. Twice now, I sat home and waited for the fed ex package to show up only to have the wrong phone arrive. 3. Tell us about a small victory you had this week. I went back to the gym. After getting off the phone with Verizon again, I couldn't get there fast enough. I had taken a break because I had been sick. 4. Tell us something that makes you happy. My grandson makes me really happy. I love his little smile so much when he is really happy to see me.

Getting Started
I was doing weight training/weight lifting for 3 years before surgery and my arms are still gross. I don't have much of a problem with skin in the tummy area though, and I had 2 C sections too.

Two days out.
Oh I forgot about that Vegas. I am so glad I didn't have a catheter. I have enough pain in that area every day from my interstitial cystitis. When I went to the urologist, he used one and it was painful. I am REALLY glad Dr. Aceves doesn't use one. I forgot all about them measuring the output. I remember now thinking that IV the first 24 hours was sure filling that measuring cup!

New Addiction?
I don't buy them very often. I hate to grocery shop. They come in packs of 2. Plus I figure 140 calories is better than however many calories are in one scoop at Baskin and Robbins. That is my justification. I will grocery shop when I run out of my sf ff fudgsicles though. They come in a box of 20 I think, so I must grocery shop every 3 weeks. __________________

Favorite meals?
I throw a lot of food in the garbage, or give it to my son. It's impossible to cook for one.

Getting Started
Welcome! I started out at 235 as well. I am 140 now and it was not hard to get here at all. According to my height, I still have an overweight bmi, but I don't really care. I wear a size 10 and the skin on my arms is gross. I am afraid if I lost any more weight, my face would look even saggier than it does now. I am happy to weigh 140 in a size 10 at 57 years old, 58 next month. It sure beats a size 24. You will be thrilled with the sleeve. I look forward to hearing more of your journey!

Trail Mix murder!
oh, that sounds like the trail mix that my boss bought. I am lucky I don't work much. It's hard to stay out of it, and I can eat a lot of it. It seems like I have a bottomless pit inside when it comes to that stuff. I can eat a lot of it without feeling the least bit full. I don't know why that is.

i'm sleeved!
We have missed hearing from you Cajun. Glad there were no earthquakes while you were there, lol! I will be glad when you are posting every day again. Time to watch the scale move down! It's so fun!

Anxiety Around Food?
When I was on the post op diet I did not go anywhere where there would be any food. I live alone so I didn't have to fix meals for anyone. I avoided anyplace where I knew I would see food. Now that I am almost 5 months past my surgery, I can eat anything I want. I am satisfied with the small amount I can eat. I do have days where I eat candy and things I am not supposed to eat, and they go down just fine. I haven't gained weight when I do this because my meals are small. You will get used to eating like a sleeved person. You will get through this! You might want to write to Steph and get some of the books that she offered to send the names of if you feel like you're going to need extra help.

Movie Reviews
I would like people to name some movies they like. My friends and and I are always looking for movies to rent. We check the new releases, but I know there are some good movies that aren't new releases anymore. I like comedy but not that really stupid stuff that's just plain dumb. I also like a good drama. Mystic River is a good drama. It has Kevin Bacon in it. Anyone else want to name some of their favorites? Let's try to keep this thread going-new movies come out all the time.

Let's discuss "the foamies" and "sliming"
I haven't had this happen in a long time. Today I got home from the gym and decided to eat a handful of raisins. I don't know if I didn't chew them well enough or what. The foam and sliming went on and on until finally the raisins came up. I am almost 5 months from my surgery date, and I guess I thought I knew how to eat now, and I guessed wrong.

Need a phone Number or email address for Nina
Can someone give me either Nina's at Dr. Aceve's office email address or telephone number? I need to cancel my testing that I was supposed to have done on October 12th. I found out Dr. Aceves is going to be on vacation that week and his entire staff takes vacation when he does. They were going to have Dr. Campos come in on his vacation day just to do my tests and I don't want to impose on him like that. I have not been able to get through on the phone number on the side of the screen on the ad. If anyone knows Nina's phone number or email address, will you please tell me so I give plenty of notice that I don't Dr. Campos to come in on his day off just for me.

Dehydration Issues.
It's not that I was afraid it was marijuana. I could really care less. I am just sick of ordering everything online. I have been getting most of the things I need from vitacost.com and I just got a big order from them. I'll ask them next time I place an order if this is something they carry.

Favorite meals?
One of my favorite easy things is salad. I am very lazy and I don't have anyone to cook for. I use the bagged lettuce and the already cooked chicken strips. I think they are Tyson. I chop up the chicken into little pieces and dump it on top of the lettuce. I like to add dried cranberries on top.

Favorite meals?
I have heard of those almonds with cocoa on them, but have never been able to find them. I eat almonds every day. They are good for us.

Dehydration Issues.
So are hemp hearts made out of marijuana? Hemp is another word for marijuana. Just curious. They sound expensive to me. Flax is pretty cheap and I grind it myself in a coffee grinder.

Anyone know of a good Sleeve Surgeon in Northern California?
Get in touch with MacMadame. Her sleeve surgeon is very good and I believe he is in San Fransisco.

Classic, new diet pill
Where can you get phentermine anyway? Doctors don't like to prescribe this. There is a medication that I take for sleep but I only take it once a week because it makes me want to eat like crazy the next day. I have some Mau Hung from a long time ago that is an appetite suppressant and I took one of those on Monday just because I knew I would have head hunger all day. You can't even order that online anymore.

Favorite meals?
I think adding the canned chicken is a great idea. I thought it was rather bland, but at least it's really easy to eat.

Dehydration Issues.
So are these something you have to buy online? I get so tired of ordering everything online. Do they sell them in health food stores?

Diet post op
Honestly, the sleeve makes it easy. I ate dinner at 6pm and it's past 11 pm and I am still full. There is no way I am the least bit hungry. In the past, I would be looking for something to snack on all evening long.
-
Diet post op
You will lose weight and you won't be as hungry. the hormone that makes hunger is removed along with that part of the stomach. Most people have to try to remember to eat after surgery. don't worry. everyone loses with the sleeve!

New Addiction?
I have discovered I can eat these tiny little cups of weight watchers ice cream. I don't know if it's because it has less fat in it than regular ice cream or what. I try not to buy it very often. It's 140 calories. I try to stick to my sugar free fat free fudgsicles.
