Starting to walk-but with questions....
I think that's great that you went walking by yourself. I go to the gym by myself, but I can't bring myself to go for a walk unless I have a friend with me. Just try to walk as fast as you can without being uncomfortable. If you are breaking a sweat, you're doing great!

Nervous and excited
With the sleeve you can eat whatever you want after the post op diet. I do have trouble telling when I am full. I have to stop eating by looking at the portion and knowing how much I can eat. If I eat until I am full at the table, I am too full and uncomfortable 15 min. later. There are a lot of us who are band to sleeve revisions and we are all thrilled to be rid of the band. As far as I know, there are only a couple of people who have trouble eating early in the day. I have been able to eat and drink right away from day 2 of surgery. I had to force myself to slow down when I was in the hospital, because I was supposed to only drink 2 oz every 15 min. I could have easily drank whatever they put in front of me. Feel free to ask anything. We are all glad to help. I revised to the sleeve after I gained 15 lbs back from having my band unfilled. I was a self pay though.

New to this
As someone who self paid for the band, and self paid for the sleeve, I can tell you getting the sleeve was the best money I ever spent. I am so glad my band is sitting on my dresser. Feel free to ask any of us anything. There is also a band to sleeve revision thread.

Liver biospy with sleeve procedure?
No, but I wish they did. I've had to have 2 liver biopsys due to liver problems and it sure would have been nice to have it done all at the same time.

Unbelievable that I did this!!
Are you kidding me? I had my daughter do it for me. I had it all made but couldn't figure out what to do next. She whipped it out in a few seconds. I don't like the background she choose, but I didn't want to bug her about that part. In a few days, I may ask her to fool around with a different background. I don't think the purple goes very well with the shirt color. I like that site though Susan. The other one gives everyone a head with no neck!

Surgery Today
Hope everything goes smoothly. I hope you are like me and are surprised that this surgery really is not painful. Looking forward to hearing how you're doing.

Over Did it...
They sell those papaya tablets at Walmart too. I was surprised they carry them there. they are pretty tasty too, but I haven't had to use them since I had my band taken out.

how long did it take?
You know you can call them. They are great about answering all your questions over the phone. It seems to me that once I sent back my email with all the questions, I called the next day and got my surgery date.

popcorn
I am sure it's some kind of chemical imbalance in my brain. When I was on Paxil for general anxiety disorder, it really helped. The only problem is one of the side effects was it can make you sweat. I couldn't take it anymore. I was dripping wet all the time. My face was dripping like I was standing in the shower and it was way too annoying. All those SSRI's give me some weird side effect.

Lap band erosion
i wish more people who are considering getting a lap band would read through this thread. I feel so bad for people who are so happy they are getting band surgery. They are only asking for trouble and they don't know it.

Help! Talking to friends and family- Suggestions, tips, stories?
mac gave you some good advice on how to talk about it with your spouse. As for the rest of the people, it's up to you who you tell. I didn't tell people because I didn't want to hear their negativity. Nobody knows other than my kids and my friend who also had the sleeve.

My Scale Won't Move, Help!
what about exercise? Don't worry. The scale will move. It can't help it because with the sleeve we eat so little bit. Your body is just adjusting to it's new weight until it decides it's ready to give some more up. It's normal.

Pre-op diet day 3
My surgeon used glue when I had lap band but Dr. Aceves uses tape.

What's on your mind?
when I was losing, I made sure I bought the kind that had a little spandex in them. They seemed to stay snugger longer even if they were a little big, if that makes sense.
-
I can handle the physical, the mental is the hard part!
One thing that made it easier for me was watching the scale move every day. It seemed to make it so worthwhile. I also tried to stay away from anyone who was eating. Can you go into another room while your family is eating?

decisions....
the band worked great for me for about a year. Weight loss was very slow and I kept having to go back to get more fills. When I finally felt like I had the fill right, I started throwing up in my sleep. If I were you, I would read all the complications on the lap band board. There is a section and a section on life without the band. People like me have paid a lot of money out of pocket for the band, only to have to pay again to get the sleeve. Life with the sleeve is so much easier. There is nothing to worry about like the band ruining your stomach.

Over Did it...
I guess I am really lucky that I never get that stuck feeling. I've been able to drink as much as I want from day one, with no discomfort. I just have to be careful to stop before I feel full because if I feel full at the table, I will feel miserable 15-20 min later.

sugar substitutes
I am going to get some of those premeire protein drinks next time I go out of town to Costco. I don't know why the first time I tried them, they were chalky and gritty. When I tried Ruthi's they were really good. 30 grams is a great way to start off the day.

14 months - 135 lbs
What kinds of things do you eat? Did you exercise a lot? I am 5'2" and I just seemed to have stopped losing. If you could let me know what a days' menu looks like for you, I would appreciate it. thanks!

Come in and chat with me!
If anyone is not on the west coast, all they have to do it say what time is good for them. I keep the chat window open so if I am doing something else, I hear the door bell ring so I know someone has opened the chat window.

I think I had a gallbladder attack!
mac would you consider changing the background color of your blog. I like to read it but the background color makes it really hard to see. I guess you are the one that needs to be able to see it though!

Over Did it...
I get that feeling like my heart isn't beating right if I eat something with too much fat or too much sugar. They say we don't have that dumping syndrome that people who have had RNY/gastric bypass, but I definitely feel very strange if I eat something high in fat and sugar.

14 months - 135 lbs
Wow, that is really sad. We don't care here who your surgeon was. We are really one big happy family here. Congratulations on your success. I seemed to have stopped losing, even though I wouldn't mind losing a little bit more. My body seems to be happy where it is, at a size 10-12 but heck, at almost 57 I am good with that!

Unbelievable that I did this!!
I do take probiotics. I can eat cheese for some reason with no trouble.

Come in and chat with me!
I don't get why more people don't chat. The lap band chat room is full of people every night. I have friends in there from chatting for a couple of years, but I can't be happy for those new people who come in and are so happy they are having band surgery. Does anyone want to talk tonight?
