    Anyone for August 2020

I just wanted to update for those who are headed to surgery soon. I am one week and a day since sleeve surgery and I’m pretty much feeling 100%. I didn’t really ever have pain from the wounds. I did experience gas, I wouldn’t call it pain but it was very uncomfortable. It lasted about 24 hours and got better with walking. I had minor pain when I left the hospital but Im a single mom with a one year old and it was hard not to pick him up. I had to lift him onto the changing table, give him baths, etc you know regular mom stuff. That pain subsided pretty quickly too and I didn’t have to use pain meds much. Being on liquids again for another 2 weeks is the worst part but it’s not unbearable. It was difficult for me to get a protein shake down this first week. They just felt heavy and sweet and weren’t setting right but I kept trying different ones and found ones that I could tolerate. Protein water has been a life saver. I found some sipping soups yesterday that have been helping me feel more satisfied. I also talked to my surgeon’s office and they told me I could try some Greek yogurt and that went well today. I went back to work day 6. I’m a teacher and all my student are virtual for now so I’m basically just sitting in front of a computer all day. I was feeling really tired like I needed a nap midday and then super exhausted when I got home from work but not today. Today I felt great. You feel better every day. I’m just so excited to start seeing results. I have lost 11 lbs since surgery.

    Hospital Stay

I was soooooo sick for the first 18ish hours. I was really glad my husband didn't have to see me like that. There are pros to every bad situation. Lol.

    POST OP BLUES

I felt that way for the first week after surgery. The first month I spent forcing myself to drink water and my protein shake because I had absolutely no desire to eat or drink. The gas pain does get better. I’m 6 weeks post op and am able to eat and drink (separately, 30 minutes apart). I’m on fork tender foods now, and I still get the post op blues when some foods sit very heavy in my pouch. But it’s a learning process that doesn’t come overnight. You’re re-learning your body again and that takes patience and time. Give yourself a break and try to get as much water and protein in as you can.

20 month mark but not losing weight.

Yes but it will take a lot of work on your behalf now that you are close to a healthy BMI. Essentially you need to be counting calories and monitoring macros. Work out our calories for weight loss given your gender, height, current weight and activity levels (use a calorie counting website if you aren't already), set your profile for weight loss, use the daily allowance given, weight and measure very thing that goes pass your lips and track your calories. Bear in mind that some of the weight you want to lose is likely skin weight as your body fat percentage may already be in the healthy weight range. As you get closer to the healthy weight range weight loss is lower and slower.

    Is this it?

Your BMI is 25.5 - why are you scared that "this is it"? You're at a normal weight already.

First off congratulations on that weight loss! 🙌🏻👏🏻 That’s amazing! But the struggle is real no doubt! I don’t want to go back to my highest ( which Ik I never will) but I don’t like where I am now, I’m a stinking snacker at night and that’s my downfall. I gotta make it a point to have something healthy on hand or I’m done! #notgivingup

Welcome to the mission! Been there done that! Ok trust me on this, you have to not let it get to you, you will end up in a rubber room with a jacket that buckles from the back. Everyone above nailed it, Mix up your diet alot, different foods, try some fasting, and flucuate you calories I would do 3 days at 1100 calories then drop to a day of 500 then bump to 800 - That really worked for me Your body is saying WTF and is trying to conserve its fat = You gotta trick it. Love the post above Its not the scale, You will get there we all have and it will be the best journey you have ever done
