Looking for Dr. Curry Patients

Recommended Posts

Hello. I believe that I have decided on having my lap band procedure performed by Dr. Curry at JourneyLite in Cincinnati. I have been to the seminars at Mt Carmel West and OSU. I am going to the JourneyLite seminar in Columbus on May 7th and have my surgeon consult/dietician meeting/psych eval in Cincy on May 27th. I am having to pay for this procedure out of my own pocket and Dr. Curry offers the best package.

I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE WHO HAS HAD THEIR LAP BAND PROCEDURE PERFORMED BY DR. CURRY!

Hi Sweetbean. I don't know anything yet about Dr Curry except what I have been reading on here, but I am going to his seminar in cincinnati on 4/29. Can't wait!! Seems like it has been forever since I scheduled that. I know I have to do a 6 mth diet for insurance so my journey will be long. Good luck. Jenni

Hey guys, I'm scheduled for surgery with Dr C on July 20. I id the 6 month diet with him too. Him and his staff are pretty awesome. They are all cool and down to earth, and I forget the exact number but at last 75% of the staff are bandsters themselves. Not to mention Dr C has had the surgery as well as his wife. They know what they are talking about!

Thats so good to hear unforgettablern. I went to the seminar and have a appt with dr C thurs 5/14 for my initial consult and first appt with the dietitian. Can't wait. Did you lose very much on your 6 mth diet? I always say..."I know how to lose weight, It's keeping it off"

Well to be honest, my BMI of 37 was right at the borderline range as far as my insurance approval goes. So their insurance specialist basically said I have to do the 6 month diet to go through the motions, but they really didn't want me to lose no more than 5 pounds so I could up my chances of being approved by insurance. I think that was harder to do than a normal 6 month diet - they didn't want me to lose to much, but if I gained then that was really bad for insurance too:blink:. I'm just glad that's all over with now and counting down the weeks until surgery.

My BMI is around 43 or 44 so I would like to lose around 25 lbs in these 6 months. I guess I will take one day at a time. Looking forward to starting the 6 mth journey this Thursday. Wish me luck!! Hopefully your surgery wait time will go fast!!

Jen

Jen - I hope your 6 months is fast and successful!

I have no problems waiting until July - now that I know I'm approved, I'm okay with waiting :tt2: Patience is a virtue and all that jazz lol

I was banded by Dr. Curry on January 12th and have nothing but good things to say about him and his staff. Like someone else said, the majority of his staff is banded, and so is he. I was self pay as well, and his prices with aftercare and all is one of the best around.

I'm scheduled to be banded by Dr. Curry on August 17th. I have heard nothing but great things about them and have had really great experiences so far with them. My nutrition class is this coming Monday.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
