One week off from work?

Recommended Posts

This is my first post, I've been lurking for over two months, hi everyone! I took a look over at the post op boards and some of what people were saying has me second guessing the amount of time I plan on taking off.

I am a teacher and my time off is unpaid. I only planned on taking off one week. Any advice? Am I crazy?

TIA

We're all different but I took one week off my accounting desk job. I also own a pet sitting company, I went to work at a client's house with her dogs three hours after being released from the hospital. (I wish I could've slept at home that first week)

My mom is a middle school teacher. She got sleeved at the beginning of her winter break three years ago. She went back when school resumed in January (nearly two weeks later), and had to go home mid-day. She threw up in front of the kids. She ended up staying home another two weeks (four weeks total).

I'm taking six weeks off of work after my surgery on Wednesday, but I have a short-term disability benefit that is letting me do that. This is a highly personal decision, but I thought I would weigh with my mom's experience in case it is helpful to you.

Best wishes!

I took 4 weeks off and wish I had stayed off 6. Everyone is so different though so just judge yourself but please don't overdo it. You will have been through major surgery, you need to give your body time to heal.

Good luck !

Kate

I'm only taking 5 days off. I will go back and sit down. If I feel it's too soon then I'll take additional days. Praying it will be ok!

I'm an IT manager for a medium-sized company and I PROBABLY could have gone back in after a week, but I'm lucky in that I have a lot of sick days saved up. I don't HAVE to go back in until Wednesday, but I'm spending my days walking around the neighborhood and I'm f---ing bored! I'll probably go in tomorrow just to get back to normal a little quicker.

I'm planning on having 7-10 days off including the 3 days I'll be in hospital. I'm lucky that I also have a desk job so I'm hoping everything will be ok because it's just before Christmas.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
