Patsy, that sounds good. I'll have to try it. I usually mix 1/2 and 1/2 Premier chocolate with FairLife Fat Free milk. It tones the chocolate down a bit.

Had a bit of a scrambled egg for lunch. It was too dry, gonna have to watch that. Hubby is fixing some cod for dinner, I'll mix it with some cottage cheese to "loosen" it up a bit.

Wow, bras are evil!! I was actually hurting until I got mine off this afternoon. I'm going out tomorrow and getting a sleep bra or sport bra. The "girls" need containment but not in a reg bra for a while.

Another step toward good health.....Got taken off one of my high BP meds today!! The other will be tapered off gradually.

It is SO good to be able to say that.

My blood sugar still hasn't come down, but cardio doc said that might take some time.

I never thought refried Beans and salsa (mild) would taste so good LOL

Still trying to get down all the Water and Protein. I think my biggest problem is the fact that I have never been an AM eater. I never (pre-surgery) ate before 11am-12pm. It is hard to get into the habit of eating or drinking as soon as I get up. I'm doing better, but still a struggle. Sunday, for instance, I got my first 16oz of water down and then forgot to follow through with the Protein Shake til almost 10

Hi to everyone in this over 65 thread. I am on this for my mom who just turned 66. She has a BMI of 36/37 and high BP, high cholesterol and probable sleep apnea. I have sleep apnea and she snores louder than I do. I had my sleeve on 8/17 and she is just starting her journey. She has Medicare and Federal BCBS. We live near Boston.

Is Medicare a pain to get the sleeve approved? She is going to an accredited program at a local hospital. Any advice or wisdom is appreciated!

Thanks in advance ...

Margie

Just wanted to recommend a web site for we older ladies who are doing Water aerobics to get healthier. I hated my loose skin showing, so I ordered aq swim shirt and skirt from " Hydrochic" and love it!

I love that I'm covered but still look nice and this also has an spf of 50! Helps prevent more sunspots! Hope this info is useful for my WLS sisters.

I am 68 and had to go through a sleep study on Dec21. They found a problem and now I am waiting for next appointment on Thursday for the results. I have wanted this surgery for 35 years. Had the insurance then. Was scheduled for surgery and a friend talked me out of it. I have so regretted it. Now that I have insurance again, I am hoping all goes well. I suffer with depression and I was on 4 meds for that. I stopped taking the one that helps me go to sleep. I knocks me OUT!!! I don't like the way it makes me feel. I quit the Lexapro. I forget to take the Citalipram. The Wellbrutin does help a lot. I want this surgery very much.

just wanted to brag a little. I went for my 3 month check up at the bariatric center, it's been 5 months sice surgery and was told that I don't need to lose anymore weight. I've lost 71 lbs and my goal was 85 lbs. Maybe the extra weight is the loose skin,LOL. I was asked if I would be willing to be a part of their new ad campaign. They want me to be a member of "BARIATRIC HEROES". Not bragging, just thankful for the surgery and for the team at UCHealth Bariatric Center who have helped me on this journey. I tried for many years to lose weight only to regain all and more. I really believe with diligence and the sleeve I can do it. Thanks also for all the support through all this.

Following a lifetime of losing hundreds/gaining hundreds+ and being the least obese at 211 with brother weighing 300 & mom 310, at the age of 65, I had Lap Band surgery. The first 2 yrs. stayed between 132/136, however, the last 2 yrs, health issues have resulted in dropping to 126 and then rising to 154.

I recently discovered the Band has slipped. At 69 I'm currently scheduled to have surgery to remove the Band and replace it with the Sleeve.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
