I am experiencing a stall. I know I need to work out, but I am so darn tired. I have started taking my Multivitamins twice a day again and B12 once a day. It seems to help. Can chronic pain affect how we lose weight? I have had serious foot pain my whole life. I keep going even though I hurt. The lack of ibuprofen has taken it toll. I am frustrated. I guess I just need a pep talk. Is anyone doing just weights? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Yes, I have rhuematoid arthritis so I know chronic pain and limits of how much I can exercise, I'm still only doing a mile and some days only manage 1/4. Why no Ibuprofen? I've been on my meds since 8 days out(celebrex and immune suppressant) and was told I could take Aleve if I had to but to try not to take more than a couple of times a week.I think it has slowed my inches coming off..having chronic pain but I do push myself too and then soak in tub and use aspercreme.lol, it works. Wonder if a steriod shot would help?

Yes, I'm still on a PPI. I still need them. I guess no one else feels the discomfort when food is going down.

Well I'm definately ready to give you a pep talk! I picked up a 40 lb bag of dog food at the store yesterday (which is how much I've lost) and hoisted it up to my sholder to see what carrying that extra 40 lbs would feel like again. I can't believe I used to carry that around all day!!!!!

I'm sorry you have the chronic pain to deal with, but think of how it has to be easier on your poor foot to carry around less weight!

I'm experiencing a stall right now, too. I need to get more organized about what I eat. I have been putting everything else at a higher priority than planning my meals. The result is that I am probably eating more carbs and I'm convinced that is what slows down my weight loss. So I'm going to find the time this week to plan out my meals, go to the grocery store, and avoid the carbs.

Have you had your doctor do blood work to see how you're doing? Many of the others on the forum swear by B12 shots or taken as a liquid under the tongue. But I would always want to check with my doctor before taking anything.

I think exercise DEFINATELY helped my energy levels. I try to make it FUN! I put on music, light a candle, anything that makes the atmosphere a special time for me. I was lucky enough to find a girlfriend who also wanted to exercise more, so we take walks together and do an exercise video at her house.

Keep talking about how you feel to us or someone close to you. I think for some people, myself included, talking helps define how I'm feeling. And putting it into words and getting it out there somehow helps me "release" those emotions or worries.

Keep your spirits up! You can do it.

I have a close friend with RA, so I can understand what you deal with every day. He found a support group that goes out hiking and camping all the time. From what he has told me, exercise is crucial to dealing with the RA.

I have been taking ibuprofen since the surgery and haven't had any problems, either.

Anyway, kudos to you for working through the RA! How we deal with difficulties in our lives is the true reflection of who we are. My hat is off to you.

My doctor put no on the ibuprofen. He gave me loratab elixir and that was that. I don't know how long I am to avoid it. I guess the idea is that is can cause bleeding of the stomach and could hinder healing. It has been 11 weeks but my primary said she doesnt know anything about this type of surgery and couldn't say. I decided to see a weight loss specialist who is also an endo doc. He did all kinds of bloodwork. I am waiting to get the results and see what they have to say. So at this point I can hold out a little longer on the ibuprofen. I am having abdominal surgery for adhesions tomorrow and Novasure. I am hoping that will help relieve some other pain. I am trying to stay positive. It is so hard no having another sleever in the area. Everyone has had bypass. I attend meetings and it helps some, but what they can eat vs what I can eat is different. Their experiences are very different in the begining. I know that 40 pounds is alot. It is just that a stall makes you feel like you are failing. Silly... I don't regret the surgery by an means and am thrilled that I weigh less now then I did when I was pregnant for the second time. Thanks for support and the info everyone shares. It is really important and very valued. :thumbup1:

I have a hard time with soft bread. Sometimes eggs and things like sweets...ie grapes and oranges etc. My body makes me feel like either I swallowed a rock or I am going to throw up. It feels like air gets sucked in or something. Strange feeling.

I think our body just tries to hang on to the fat and then wham the stall is broke but it happens in it's own time. This forum is a lifeline for sleevers, just talk to us, we'll support you. We'll get thru the good times and bad together. Keep us posted on how youre doing.:001_tt2:

I am happy to have such a group online to talk with. Something exciting today is that before surgery the nurse made me get on their scale and for once the scale matched my scale. It gave bmi etc. I was so excited. The doctor's office always displays more, but not this time. So of course I had to make sure when I got home. Yeah! I know we all are ultimately responsible for the way we feel, but it sure is nice to see that there are so many other people that have similar situations or are not having perfect results. Thank you to everyone for posting and responding and just being honest. How refreshing and helpful. :confused1:

Hey my name is Gloria and I live in Augusta, Ga. I was sleeved April 5, 2010. I have lost 49 lbs. so far, down from 214 to 165. My goal is to get to 150. Seems as though I am stuck on 165 and have been for awhile. I have had no problems whatsoever. I would love to talk with someone in my area who has had the sleeve, but of course will talk with anyone and share/support.

Hello to all ye April Sleevers!

It has been a while since I've posted on this thread and now I wish to sign in and say a big HELLO.

Today is my 3 month out day.

I am pleased with my progress as it has been slow and steady and I have every confidence that it will continue. Sometimes I wish I was losing faster, especially when I read how well others are doing, but then I convince myself that my body is reacting the best way for it! Perhaps, with the slower weight loss it might have time to firm up and tighten back and not leave any loose or hanging skin?

Well, since it is exactly 3 months, I would like to summarise my progress.

I started at 213 lbs with a BMI of 35.44. I now weigh 175.6 lbs and have a BMI of 29.22.

I have lost 4 inches off my middle ( is that a waist!) which is my real problem area.

I notice that I am sleeping much better now and also notice a great improvement in aches and pains in my lower limb joints.

I am enjoying my new lifestyle and am very pleased with absolutely everything.

Good Luck to all you April Sleevers.

Booklean

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
