Grammar police? Really? Over half of my posts are posted from my iphone. I always find it amusing when people online decide to nit pick grammar, I've had a few other people try it with me before. They always think it shows something, about themselves, and the person with poor grammar or spelling. But nevertheless I've always been able to go back and find dozens and dozens of their own mistakes. If you want to make attacks towards people for grammatical errors, how about your pal phil, who uses the most random a$$ parenthesis I've ever seen in my life, they make no sense whatsoever, And make reading his post's very difficult.

I have horrible spelling and grammar (which is even worse on the iphone), so I can relate. I agonize over it on the computer and usually am able to clean most of it up (although I usually spot something later on a reread). I don’t think that problem has anything do with our political views or even our intelligence for that matter.

If the states don't have the money where are they getting the money to pursue these lawsuits? The estimate for my state is $950 million. And they will lose. Talk about an abuse and waste of taxpayer money.

It is better to put out the expense now and pay to get rid of this HC crap that passed than to pay for the humongus expense of it from this day forward and forvever. If you think $950 million is alot to spend, just wait!

Ohhh, just wait! More fear. Can't you come up with new lies? Maybe something like this healthcare will pay for breast implants for welfare mothers.

I was just reading the Comcast web page and they have an article about Fox news. Journalists with Fox are upset that Beck is becomeing so popular. Other journalists are claiming Beck stages his dramatic shows, teardrops etc. Bill Oreilley is mentioned as one who is upset. They are concerned he is becomeing the face of Fox. These people are all narcositic idiots who could care a less about the country. Theyre just concerned about rateings. Sound like they should be politicians.

The tea baggers are getting restless. They are showing their true colors. Phone calls to congress, death threats, pictures in the paper and racial slurs. It's amazing why they think we should have ANY respect for their movement. Only closet teabaggers will make it in the history books, if they manage to get elected. Democrates will not allow a crazy person to take to the Congress, they just won't. We will lose some seats but coo co birds definitely won't replace Democrats. I would be ashamed to be associated with such a group. I am ashamed for them. The rethuglicans should be ashamed of what they have incited and have no intention of toning it down. Never have you seem Democrats lose their minds like the past couple days with teabaggers in the news. This is sad when the retards threaten our leaders and feel they can have the freedom to do it without consequence. They and all who associate with it should be ashamed.

It’s not socialized medicine – that is nothing more than a talking point. At best, it might be described as socialized insurance administration. Socialized medicine would be more like our VA or the British system (I’m not advocating for either of those). In those systems, the administration, hospitals, and doctors are ALL employees of the government. We actually do it here today, its called Medicare. And here is a surprise, it actually works and the people that get it like it pretty well. The part of Medicare that doesn’t work in its funding. We haven’t increased the taxes on it to keep up with inflation and people are living longer now than when it was first conceived. So if it costs more and you fund it the same you will have a shortfall – simple math.

Don’t tell me to move. I am a small business owner (I do provide insurance to my employees btw), a tax payer, a veteran, and a voter. I’m not saying my plan is the one the majority wants, I am just saying it is the one that make the most sense to me.

Is this not you saying medicare is socialized medicine?

You’re right. A better method would be to asses an appropriate Medicare tax on ALL earned income and provide Basic Universal Coverage to everyone - Medicare for all. Under basic coverage everyone would have access to well doctor visits, medically necessary procedures, chronic disease coverage, and catastrophic illness protection. Everything above basic coverage could be covered under supplemental insurance that could be purchased on the open market. Why is this such a hard concept to understand?

Then here is you saying medicare for all. One post says medicare for all, another says medicare is socialized medicine, so, 1+1=2, you want socialized medicine for everyone.

What has happened is that Americans voted the Democrats in. They did it because they were fed up with the Republicans and they trusted the Democrats to try to fix what is wrong in America.

Now that's what the president and congress have been trying to do - take care of the business of the United States of America for the Americans who voted them in office.

But we have disgruntled Republicans who won't play ball on any level and now have talked certain Republican governors to file lawsuits against this duly elected body of representatives because they disagree with the outcome and the way it was accomplished.

Is this America or not? Why was Bush able to do the things he did behind the scenes and with false data presented to congress to get their approval to let him decide to take us into war, among other things, but we never heard a peep out of them when at least some of the shennanigans were revealed? They don't give a rip about how this bill was passed. They only want to wreak havoc because they aren't in power anymore and they don't like the president. It has become personal and they aren't working for the people. They have their own agenda and the citizens be damned.

Unless of course you're talking about the birthers, deathers and other obstructionists who are pea brained nincompoops.

Unfortunately the president will do all he can do handle this matter fairly as will the Attorney General, if it comes to that. What the Republicans are hoping is that it will eventually go to the United States Supreme Court where they have the deck stacked. I just hope that the president and attorney general will put this thing in the incinerator where it belongs.

hey, I don't know about kartman but I want socialized medicine for all. The fact that some of you are scared to death of it because you're so afraid of it, is very unfortunate.

Why stop at medicine, shouldn't everything be free for everyone shouldn't we all just get to relax and hang out all day while the government takes care of all of us?

This is the type of irrational reply that makes me unable to take your arguments seriously.

This is the type of irrational reply that makes me unable to take your arguments seriously.

I'm being serious. What's the end goal for liberals? Just free medical care and free education? Everything else you must work for? Is that what you all want? Or is there something else too? What else should the government be taking care of for us? What are we the people not smart enough to handle that the government needs to? Our money? Should they regulate that, just flat out control all banking systems? What about private industry? If I don't want to hire someone should that be my right not to hire them? Or should the government be able to regulate who I can and cannot hire? We did try that once with affirmative action. I'm very curious what the end goal for liberals and democrats is. It obviously isn't independence, personal responsibility, and a strong free market, or you wouldn't be trying so desperately to get the government involved in so many things. Is your perfect utopia a full on socialized nation? Communism? Or is it something else? Enlighten me.

Amen, Leisha!!

My answer is simple... Americans deserve to have the best health care in the world. Not only provided by the smartest and most skillful doctors, but also the best drugs and diagnostic equipment. Right now those things are only guaranteed to the very wealthy. Others have insurance that will often defray the costs to the patient so that they can afford them.

But too many Americans either do not have good insurance or insurance at all. And it is a crap shoot whether those with insurance will be covered by their insurance carrier or for some reason determined by that company, be denied treatment or the ability to be diagnosed in a timely manner.

So with the system we have now, most Americans are often stressed to the limit when they become seriously ill. They have to not only deal with the physical problems they face, but they also have to psychologically deal with the fact that a nameless-faceless entity holds their health and perhaps even their life in its' hands. And the process by which they must obtain "approval" is often lengthy and requires more than one attempt and in some cases the patient must beg for what their doctos says they need.

The Democrats have fought long and very hard to make this right for America. The Republicans have fought the Democrats every step of the way. Which would be totally acceptable if they did it in a fair and honest way - on the merits - instead of their fantasy of what they've said "might" happen if we change our HC system.

But they haven't even stopped at that. They, as has been their modus operandi since this president took office, tell untruths, make up lies, misrepresent the truth and manufacture every false and misleading thing they can think up to defeat what they believe is the president's "waterloo".

That's what the Republicans are doing for Americans. Instead of being representatives for the people, they are hoodwinking their constituents into thinking that this bill is something to fear. And further, that this bill will ruin our health care system.

Now they have been worked into such a frenzy, it has become personal and they advocate throwing bricks, lying, filing bogus lawsuiits, spitting, hurling epithets at congresspeople, threatening to shoot the people who have brought this bill forth and much, much more.

In November we the people need to not forget this insane behavior and throw them out of office. If Americans put up with this kind of behavior on the part of their representatives, we certainly do not have a democracy in America. What we have is anarchy and it reminds me of the political climate of the 60s and 70s. Let's hope that the National Guard doesn't have to be called out and wind up using bullets to restore order in America. Remember Kent State?

ariscus: Is your perfect utopia a full on socialized nation? Communism? Or is it something else? Enlighten me."

Gladly - if you'd only actually listen. No one expects to achieve a perfect nation and no one that I know wants a communistic country, be it socialism or facisim or any other form of communism.

(Of course if you actually understood these forms of communism you probably wouldn't throw the terms around so casually.)

What progressive Americans want, at least what this progressive American wants, is fairness. Plain and simple. Fairness in government. Equal treatment for all.

What we have established under Republican rule is a government that favors the wealthy. In fact, it has become so favorable to the wealthy it is beginning to create two classes of Americans to the exclusion of a strong middle class.

If all Americans are not treated equally in this country, we certainly do not have a democracy and it is not what we are promised in our Constitution and Bylaws.

America cannot be a strong country - the strongest country in the world - unless everyone has the opportunity to have good health and a decent education. These things should be very basic to our existence as American citizens.

That's what I expect and want for America.

Now explain yourself and why you're so supportive of capitalistic greed beyond reason.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
