Suggestion About A Good Protein Drink

Recommended Posts

I really enjoy the Apex Fit Drink Mix in chocolate (original flavor) FIT Drink Mixes (220 calories) Products.

I have this for Breakfast and sometimes for lunch. No blender needed - I just take 8 oz of milk and 2 scoops of the mix, shake it, and drink. No gritty taste or aftertaste at all! And, it's great because it really is satisfying - I usually have to tell myself to eat every four hours because with this Protein mix, I could easily go eight hours before I start to feel hungry. It is a little expensive though - I usually go through the jug of Protein mix in about 10 days - 2 weeks, if I just have it for Breakfast.< /p>

Do you like chai tea lattes? You can use the double milk recipe from a previous poster, and add in some sugar free chai latte concentrate. It's spicy, warm, and makes me happy. You get 16 grams of Protein, too!

Here's another thread from a while back that also had some good suggestions:

I use a whey Protein shot in my Water. I buy it at Wal Mart for 1.97 a tube/shot. It takes like a fruit punch and its really not bad. It has 26g of protein in one shot. It is similar to Protec but cheaper and doesn't have a weird smell like Protec. Hope that helps

Im not getting my daily Protein. Can anyone help me with a Protein Drink that tastes good. I had bought a Protein drink and end up wasting my money. I paid $40 for it and it tastes horrible. I hate the after taste and taste that it left in my mouth. Can anyone please tell me some protein drinks that provides the amount of protein but also DOES NOT have a bad taste. I have heard that some Protein Drinks tastes like a yoohoo. Please provide me with some that tastes like a yoohoo or something that does not taste bad!!!!

I was thinking about trying the Isopure. Have anyone tried the chocolate isopure. I heard that was good.

I have tried a BUNCH of them, and I couldn't find one that I could endure until........Smoothie King! I buy the smoothie King chocolate Gladiator powder. It has 48g of protein per serving. It does not taste bad at all. I add a few ice cubes, oa little almond milk, a handful of frozen strawberries, and 2 packets of Splenda. It is very good in my opinion. If you have a smoothie King anywhere near you, go give it a try in the store. If you like it, they will give you 20% off and a free smoothie too! Good luck!

My surgeon suggests Chike. I chose the vanilla but it comes in several flavors. It really didn't taste all that good to me so here is my solution:

In a blender:

pour 1 cup milk ( I use 2% or lower)

1/2 c ice

1/4 cup low fat, no sugar added frozen chocolate yogurt

2 scoops of vanilla Chike

mix and drink....

this cuts the strong vanilla taste while not adding alot of extra calories and without adding sugar!

I use Isopure Perfect low carb in vanilla and chocolate. Its delicious. I add frozen berries. You can get it on www.vitaminshoppe.com. I pay 35 dollars. If you go to health food store, you will pay at least 50 to 60 bucks.

I've been drinking the Premiere RTD chocolate drinks (from Costco) - they are really yummy. BUT, I just tried a new yesterday that I really like. It was from Vitalady(online) - It's a half and half combo of Champion Chocolate Whey stack and IDS Vanilla Cinnamon - do 1/2 scoop of each of those in hot Water and it's like a VERY yummy hot chocolate....it was SO good - I'll be ordering some today (they sell samples, which is how I tried it). This morning, I tried nectar caribbean cooler, it tasted like a Pina Colada, but was way too sweet for my liking (only drank half of it).

So far no one has mentioned the Protein Shake I use. It's Labrada Lean Body for Her. it has 35g of Protein. And the flavors are pretty good. They are called "soft serve" flavors. Now, dont get me wrong, I dont think they taste exactly like soft serve ice cream but they aren't bad. I especially like the chocolate, but they have vanilla and strawberry too. Again I like it because no after taste and GREAT protein...I Mean 35g...can't go wrong!

I don't think these are like super high in Protein like some of the powders, but I absolutely LOVE the Bolthouse Farms "Perfectly Protein" drinks. They are packaged like Odwalla and usually sold near them, but taste sooo much better. Not like Odwalla is bad, but I would drink these even if I didn't need the Protein lol, they're like a treat. I think they have like 20 grams per small bottle and 42 for the large bottle if I'm not mistaken. There is 178 calories and 2.5 fat in the small bottle. There is one called Mocha Cappucino that tastes just like those bottled Starbucks Frappucinos they sell in 4 packs. The vanilla chai tea one is also yummy good, as is the hazelnut. I buy mine at Target usually but my grocery store also has them, just less of a variety. Good luck!!

Welcome to Bolthouse Farms

THe OH YEAH shakes at GNC are great. chocolate is all I have tried. Plus I use their AWP line...advanced wheybolic protein...I think. That has 50 or 60 grams of Protein. I use the choc or vanilla and mix with really cold Water. When making my own Protein Shakes I use flavored extract.....vanilla, almond, coconut, banana. You can do a variety of different kinds. Good luck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
