HAPPY "NEW LAPBAND DAY" TO ME!!!!

Had my surgery early this morning and am now back home with my new LapBand! No problem! Took longer than expected because they fixed a 'surprise' hernia too, but I was drinking Water and walking around at the hospital in no time and then they let me go home! The port/incision places dont hurt that much, it is more of a dull pain. I do have sharper pain in my shoulder from the gas, hopefully that will go away soon... Havent taken pain meds yet...

Hope everyone else did great today and best wishes to everyone on the list for tomorrow...

Hi Everyone! Had my surgry yesterday in Vancouver, BC & everything went well. I'm putting up with some mild discomfort but not taking any pain meds starting this morning. Feeling pretty good! Lost 13 lbs on the Medifast pre-op diet, and although not the best tasting shakes, it was endurable for the short period of time. Thanks for the support. Cheers! Lyn

Congratulations ganda and yosemite! I'm so happy to hear that your surgeries were "no problem" and that you're both home recovering in good spirits! That's wonderful! And it sure makes my prospects for tomorrrow look pretty good.

Fingers crossed.

I went today for preop testing was there from 9-3:20! It took three people to find a vein and 5 tries before they found one. A total of an hour! It was terrible. My hands and wrists are so sore they poked so hard looking for them.

Then I met with nutritionist who said I ate terrible when she read my food diary. Hello isn't that why I am getting surgery! I mean I was honest I could have lied but how would that help.

Then I met with the surgeon and the office manager.

So he says I am all set for the 22nd just waiting for the approval.

I am more worried about being denied than I am the surgery. :w00t:

They said I can have sugar free Jello and I should shower every day but not take a bath for a month. That is contrary to what someone else said on here.

Is everyone taking their Vitamins? Which ones?

Surgeon said if I lost 60 pounds he would think it was successful and 80 pounds would be better. I would be very happy with 80, I don't even remember what it is like to be less than 200 pounds.

Thank you so much!

I guess I'm up! Wow, did that time fly by, or what?! By this time tomorrow I should be dressed, prepped and ready for surgery at noon (pst). I greatly appreciate the well wishes and prayers. Knowing you're all out there really helps.

*Thinking of kslessar who is, I believe, the first 12/4 bandster in surgery... in just a few hours from now.

Isn't this exciting?!

I'll have you and the other bandsters who are up tomorrow in my thoughts. Please keep us posted when you can. Take care! :w00t:

I am new to the group, but my date is Dec 23.

I am excited and nervous at the same time.

I am a little overwhelmed about what I need to do/get before surgery. I have been looking for Protein Shakes and am having a hard time finding ones suggested on the boards.

Still on the hunt!

Good luck to everyone! And hoping that the ones that have already had surgery are doing great.

Kayrna the no gell or hairsapray is so you don't cause a fire, anthesias can sart your gell on fire

Terri

Thanks Terri. I definitely don't want THAT! I guess I'll wear a headband - I have a lot of hair. No make-up or jewelry either, according to my instructions sheet. Well, I won't be feeling very attractive walking-in that's for sure! Good thing it doesn't matter.

It's how I feel the walking-out (and every day after) that counts.

I'll post here or to my blog as soon as I can tomorrow.

Feeling the love. :w00t:

Welcome Nancy! - Your local grocery store should have some sort of Protein Shake, or GNC/Hi-healthy type of store. Your WLS provider probably has a shake they use/sell themselves. I know true results does, but I haven't bought it or tried it yet, I think I'm good with what I've got now that I've figure out how to make them taste decent.

Surgery went great yesterday! I was so nervous before I left, but then after they hooked me up to an IV, I realized it was no turning back! I arrived at 11:30 and left at 6:30. They found that I had a hiatal hernia and a hole in my esophogus, which Dr. Hollis fixed during surgery. Incisions are sore, and the gas is awful, but over all feeling pretty good! Thanks to all!

Are your talking about Dr. Kenneth Hollis? If so, he is also doing my surgery on the Dec. 7th. I am so happy to hear that everything went pretty well. I had a tough time with True Results and some of the people from Dr. Hollis's office but I stayed on top of them to make sure all my paperwork got done. I was upset when I found out that I had to pay his assistant $400 because she was out of my network.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
