Sweet Taste in Mouth

Recommended Posts

Ok, I know this is going to sound bizarre but...

I am doing the pre op diet (mostly Protein shakes) and I have a constant sweet taste in my mouth. It is almost like an artifical sweetner (which I do not use).

Any one else experience this or am I just the odd one??

The weird thing is that I drink Water to rinse this out and it still comes back. At first is was just now and then, now it is constantly there. It's driving me nuts and completely leaves me not wanting to drink anything.

I get a sweet taste in my mouth with splenda (sucralose).

If you have the equipment, check your blood glucose level when this happens. Mine goes up with splenda - even though "they" swear that's not supposed to happen.

I would rather have a sweet taste. I am also on the pre-op diet and I have a salt taste in my mouth that I can't get rid of. It drives me crazy and I still have 10 more days on this diet. Had it since the first day. It is always there and at certain times it gets worse. I was never really a salt eater plus I have HBP so I stay away from a lot of salt. Can't figure this one out.

It might be ketosis due to your low carb intake. I had a metallic taste in my mouth, but others describe it as a fruity or sweet taste.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
