Hey everyone,

Does anyone else have issues with eating Breakfast?? I love Breakfast but since my last fill (6cc's total), I have not been able to eat breakfast at all. First bite I take feels stuck and I have to quit eating. So I have to drink a Protein shake for breakfast instead.

Let me know if anyone else has these issues!!

I just posted a similar thread on the General forum! My doc and nut would rather I not fall back on Protein Shakes, but some mornings (like you), I cannot get anything else to stay down. I'm fine in the evenings, so I don't think I'm too tight.

Many people feel very tight in the morning. While I don't believe there is a scientific consensus as to why, many believe it has to do with lack of hydration. Since we don't drink while sleeping some believe it causes a bit of dehydration. I have heard drinking warm liquids first thing can help or drink a good amount of fluids prior to bed

I just got my first fill yesterday and they gave me an instruction sheet at my fill and said if you feel tight in the morning try drinking warm liquid before breakfast. Such as Decaf coffer or tea. It says it is very common to feel tighter in the morning. good luck

I'm always tighter n the morning. I first have a cup of coffee, then wait 10 minutes and have yogurt and a banana. The coffee relaxes the band.

Try having coffee or tea first and see if that helps. Also if your last fill was recent, you can be actually very tight and as you lose a few lbs, it will feel more comfortable.

Keep up the good work.

A cup of hot coffee or hot tea (and I do mean hot, not lukewarm) will help. How much varies from person to person. I, too, am tight in the morning and I agree on the speculation that lack of hydration contributes to it. If you can delay eating and start your morning when you get up with a couple of glasses of Water, that too may help.

I get up at 5:00 and put in 3-4 miles. I drink a big glass of Water before I head out and don't eat until I get back in the house and shower. Yeah, the extra hydration helps some. Hot tea with breakfast helps too.

Yes, I have the same issue since my last fill. I too end up drinking a diabetic Meal Replacement shake, but I'm usually hungry well before lunch.

I don't drink coffee or tea so but I guess I'll have to try getting up earlier, and having something to drink before I try breakfast. Although drinks don't always go that well in the morning either.

My doc says I should never be drinking meals/protein, if so, then I'm too tight. I too drink a cup or two of hot coffee and it loosens me right up.

I'm haven't had a fill yet but I have heard this is pretty common. A lot of people have said the Protein shakes are what they have in the AM and can eat regularly the rest of the day. Not sure if the band loosens during the day

hi

i haven't eaten breakfast in 3 years...morning is always tight for me.

i try to get a Protein shake down late morning. this seems to give me the best energy boost.

when i talked to my doctor about it when i was first banded...he said "if you arent hungry....dont eat" made sense to me!

generally have a cup of coffee with a tablespoon of benefiber.

Followed by a Protean shake with a banana blended together.

My doctor feels that it is important to get the protean into your body so it will help with the munchies.

I am too tight even ith hot coffe first so I have a Protein Shake in the morning. I think if I just waited a couple of hours I would be ok and sometimes I can eat eggs but I dont see what the crime is of the shake. It start off a good day in terms of Protein because I am a vegetarian I have to keep good track of that. Then I am eating healthy, real food, the rest of the day!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
