ugh...a crappy fat moment

Recommended Posts

I know I am just starting this wonderful journey...but today....a fat crappy moment happened. Our neighbors are getting their driveway re-done..and the workers working on it made fun of me in spanish. :) I know enough spanish to get "lady" "fat" etc........

This motivates me even more to try and get this done. I can't wait for my measely informational session next WEd.....I hope it's the start.....

:tongue2:

Awwww....so sorry you had to go through that. People can be so insensitive. Good luck on your LapBand journey. It's work but you will get there. Just follow all the rules provided by your doc and you will be successful.

I am sorry those dudes couldn't keep their comments to themselves. Congratulations on your decision to get banded and hopefully those comments will turn to wolf whistles soon.

Best wishes,

Mimi

HI Bostonmomma,

I'm from the Boston area too. I am about 5 Minutes from the NH border.

Good luck with your first meeting!

I'm sorry about your experience, but these things just make us stronger and push us on! :tongue2: We are tough Yankees!

Im sorry to had to hear that crap from those workers. You definitely should have said something to them to let them know you understood what they said. I would have also gone to the neighbors to let them know what their laborers are doing. But, dont let it get you down, let it make youi more determined to take care of business. Good luck to you.:)

I don't know how much spanish you know. But my husband is hispanic and in their country the more heavier, curvier women are more favorable. Maybe you will getting a compliment and and did not get it all. Don't let anyone discourage you.:tongue2:

Hey, think of it this way .... the creeps made fun of you but who's doing driveways for a living? The best revenge is living well.

LOL! I love reading your posts, Cathy! You have such a wonderful way of responding! I couldn't agree with you more on this...

Thanks, BDBMaw! I always was the class clown. It wasn't really because I was fat; just because I can be pretty funny on occasion, LOL. Yeah, the OP could have said something that let them know she understood them, but it wouldn't have mattered to them. They would have laughed. How much better to take personal satisfaction in knowing that even though they saw fit to make fun of her, she knows she's come a long way in life, is changing what they criticized but they will no doubt continue DOING DRIVEWAYS, LOL.

there's nothing wrong with doing driveways for a living. It's a hard/honest way to make a living.

Just because other people are ignorant and make fun of people, doesn't mean that we have to be the same way. I always say, I'm not responsible for how people treat me or what they say to me, but I am responsible for how i react.

reacting by making fun of others is immature and a poor reaction. Sorry. i know we're all entitled to our opinons, but i would hope that we would be the bigger person and not make fun of others -- especially when as "big people" we've been made fun of ourselves.

I am sorry you had a bad experience and that your feelings were hurt though.

I know how you feel. The other day I went to the mall with my mother and walking back to my car some guys yelled out of the truck to me saying "fat ass". It hurts but I guess we all have to move on. No matter what people say remember and realize youre a beautiful person inside out. Good luck on your journy.

That is so mean and rude. You should've walked up to them and said Hola. Como Esta. Basically enough to get the message across that you heard his rude ass.

They're idiots. I had Spanish in junior high. Our favorite retort was: Que es para tu, sapo? Which means, What's it to you, bullfrog? :(

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
