Why is it so hard to figure out when you need an unfill?

Recommended Posts

I have been trying to figure out whether I need a slight unfill since my last fill 4 weeks ago. I have mostly days when I threw up at least at one of my meals, if not all and I never have days where I don't throw up 2 days in a row but then I have days when I can eat more and don't throw up and I am getting so confused and I am scared that a little unfill will have me eating a lot more. Sometimes I get heartburn when I eat. What should I do? I tried to get in touch with someone last week to help me determine if I need an unfill or not but I haven't been able to reach her. I think I had better call her today. This has gone on long enough!

To me it's pretty straight forward. If you are getting stuck and then PBing frequently, have frequent heartburn, acid reflux or can't take in adequate Protein, then you need an unfill. It might not be that you need much of one, but an unfill would make all the difference in the world. I recently got a .2cc unfill because I was getting stuck at every meal...and I mean EVERY meal. My weight loss had been slow, a bit less than a pound a week and, of course, I didn't want to slow down further but I knew I had to do it. And, I feel 100% better AND I've started losing again. Make that phone call and get in to the doc's office!

Good luck

Hi there,

I was in this situation a few months ago. I first, before getting an unfill, tried a few other things. Smaller bites, eating slower and standing/walking. It's funny but when you have little restriction it's easy to take bigger bites and eat faster. Then all of a sudden, in my case, I was tight!

Eating slower takes a lot of time and practice. Try for bites the size of a pea. Chew a lot and then wait 2-3 minutes between bites. Also I found that standing and walking around helped food to go down.

I also found that I had to be hydrated. Being tight makes it hard to get enough liquids, but getting enough liquids helps ease the tightness! It's a catch 22. Concentrate on liquids most of the day. Then eat slow. At one meal, it took me an hour to eat 3/4 cup of food. These steps really helped.

I eventually (after a month) had an unfill because I kept getting tighter. These steps really help me now, as I am tight still but not unbearable.

Thanks for the advice. I think your right and I need a little unfill. Its a shame I let it go on for 4 1/2 weeks in order to lose more weight and it backfired and I haven't lost hardly any since the fill! I made an appt but they can't fit me in until Friday afternoon. Thanks again.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
