Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Recommended Posts

Yeahhh, Michelle's back. It sounds like you had a wonderful time. I must admit, I am still jealous :0)

Laura, You should put in an incident report as soon as you possibly can. I am sure they have cameras, but it is not to their benefit to provide the film showing your fall so it may not be easily obtained. Also, I am not sure how long they would keep a recording . . . is it a week, a month, a few days??? What caused the fall initially . . . was it wet or did you trip over something?

Haydee, I am with you. Wedding is for glamour and not meant to be the same as every other day. I love the idea of straightening it and putting in big curls :0)

Hello everyone else!!!

One more thing, when I looked on Amazon for cell phones, I found some accessory packs for .01 but didn't see any actual phones . . . am I missing something? Is there a link I could use?

Suzy.. guess I don't understand.. If you already had AT&T, it would just be an upgrade. My contract was about up so I could pick out a new phone and then just have the numbers transferred. The entire fee I paid was $.01 for the phone. No activation fee, no transfer fee, no nuthin. Glad you like your phone. I really am getting used to mine. Have a good time at Curves today!!

Just finished a slice of 10 grain bread with Peanut Butter and grape jelly. Comfort food for me. I'm sharing some grapes with Ethan right now.

I had a piece of homemade chocolate cream pie at rehearsal last night. It was a reward for having a great concert and I enjoyed every bite!

Laura.. glad you're going to have a doc take a look at the knee. You might have some Fluid buildup that could be drained.

Haydee.. it's 1 p.m. right now and the temp is 46!! Brrrrrrrr. I have plants to plant, but no time until tomorrow to do it. Then it's going to be a marathon garden day. Not many good days left before winter. I won some ferns on ebay and am hoping those will be here tomorrow so I can plant everything at once.

Of to do laundry. BBL...

DL/DW always makes me feel weird (good weird, can't explain it) when I go there.. no matter what my age.

I know exactly what you mean! It's that long-ago childhood "Christmas Eve" + your birthday excitement feeling all rolled into one! It's so rare to experience that feeling as an adult -- that's one of the reasons I love to go... or think about it... or plan it... or help OTHERS plan it (hint, hint)! :) Even DH was actually SKIPPING a couple times -- even tho he denies it!

Take care of yourself!!

Exactly!! That's a great way to explain it--I've tried explaining it to Russ before--he's never been there. He gives me a weird look, but I tell him it makes me feel like a really excited happy kid just by walking in the gate.

Heather, it's a handicap slope (blue) leading into the store, and it's merged into the sidewalk. So I was walking the sidewalk, stepped onto the slope--which silly me assumed it would be textured or something--and it wasn't, so my legs went sliding right out from under me, I actually did a sideways tumble down the ramp after I fell on my knee (from bouncing!).

By time we left the store they had put a non-slip mat out there.

The legal place I talked to left me a voicemail, said they're sending me a contract. No idea what it's about or..whatever.. she said I fill it out and they handle it from there. This is completely out of my realm, any idea what those are about? Are they scams? lol

Went to lunch with an old high school friend who is now a musician, he has a new CD coming out of hymns; they he wrote. I said I couldn't wait to hear it, so he gave me 2 CD samplers with 2 songs on it each. Oh...my...goodness. They are so beautiful, 2 of them made me get teary-eyed. I can't wait till it's available on Itunes (the whole album).

Crying baby.....

Just quickupdate with babe in arms, talked to legal place, she said the case manager says there's grounds for a suit and I fill out the contract, they go back and forth with gas station's insurance.. nothing out of pocket to me, they get paid out of the settlement.

I told her how I didn't file anything, etc.. she said that's not a problem.

This is new to me. Last time I sued was the guy who busted up my car in ABQ and I still haven't been paid by that :/

Good morning Violets~

I lifted weights today...so I am 4 for 4 this week...all systems go for a 5 day workout week (provided I get my butt in there tomorrow)!!! YEAH ME!

Had a great dinner last night. Made pork loin (in electric skillet), w/ mushrooms and gravy, spetzla (german noodles), and steamed zuccini! It was so good...I had a little of each and a ton of zuccs. Tonight we are going to a fundraiser for the school at (wait for it...) DENNY'S! I am sure I will get the nachos, cause they are the best and I live for them (plus they are way band friendly as they slide right through). I'll have a salad for lunch, which I have one everyday, and save room for the nachos.

Going to my primary after school for a check up...then DENNY'S then home to get ready to go to DISNEYLAND! (don't laugh Michelle:lol::)) I expect Mickey to be wearing a rainbow feather boa or I will be disappointed!

Pop in later from work!

"I expect Mickey to be wearing a rainbow feather boa or I will be disappointed!" -- He IS fabulous, so maybe he will!

Just got back from aqua ai chi... love it! So relaxing and zen... helps my mind clear and re-focus.

Off to shower... then I get to go to the Middle School 6th grade lunch period (save me!) to help DD survey the kids for her Sci Fair project (ugh, I hate these!) about how many hours of sleep they get. I want to procrastinate it away 'til tomorrow... but in my fresh zen state, will embrace today and get it done. "Oommmmmmm"

(tee hee!).

Good morning! Yes, it will be a great October for all of us!

I plan on Water water water everyday, staying away from carbonated beverages and treadmill at least 5 days a week. I need to be pumped!!

I wish I was going to Disney!!! So much fun!!

Laura - I hope you get something, anything. Every little thing helps. Have you decided what you're gonna do? Fix your band or convert to sleeve?

Jane - ((((hugs)))) You at least had a good attitude yesterday. That's always something?? Ha ha ha... Jane, I would have been so pissed I would have come on here cussing and screaming. Three clients is NOT ok. Do you ever watch Tabitha's Salon takeover? She needs to do that to Charlie's place...

Judy - Thanks so much for posting the link. All this time I thought it was only with ATT so I never bothered to look. When I clicked on the link I saw that it works with all carriers. You can just upgrade your current phone and you're done!

Heather - yes, thank you. I'm trying to convince Juan to think like that. Men are so hard headed sometimes. He about freaked when I told him that I was getting fake eyelashes. He thinks I'm gonna look like a muppet or something...

Michelle - aaahhh, I wish I had your zen... I have a pile of crap that I really need to get to and I'm just avoiding it... I've been checking my email, checking in here, and fixing to go to a wedding site to look for invites when I really need to get to work... send me some "get it doneness"... ha ha ha

I'm starving today for some reason. I ate pretty early last night so that might be why. I'm ready for lunch and it's barely 11am!

I have found the answer...I KNOW it is the wrong answer tho!

I am sick---cannot eat or drink much of anything. I went to the Dr. yesterday he gave me the Zofran that dissolves on your tongue for the nausea. Is helping some. Is supposed to help enough for the meds he give me for the other issue. Not helping at all, I think the Immodium OTC stuff works as well.

Anyway, without eating, I am losing weight, can you imagine??? LOL

I am going to try to work today, the OM was pissy about me being off yesterday---told Rick makes me want to go in and breath on her!

Otherwise, all is about the same here, Rick is still working, waiting on the other job, the guy he knows that is there that he used to work with--he saw him when he went in for his interview said it was 2 months before they actually hired him from the original interest. Which is fine. If his current work runs him off he gets some severence, and if he can get on soon after it will all work out, I am turning it over, I cannot stress over it, especially since it does nothing to the outcome whatsoever!

Enjoy Disneyland Pamela! I hope Mickey does not let you down.

Guess I will go get ready for work.....fun.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
