Umystifyme,

Hey, you have another week down. The decision will happen. Just go on with your life. (You have to) Good Luck! Life is not a dress size.

You tell that Jerky doctor that almost ALL people gain the weight back and THEN some!!!!! Tell him you should not be penalized for following the rules and have him submit to the insurance company. If he won't find another doctor. They do go by your previous weight. I feel so bad that you worked so hard to hear that!!! Good Luck...

Thurs the surgeons office told me that Aetna wants to talk to him ... makes me nervous... So this week they are scheduling him a time to talk to them.

I had same type thing happen to me two years ago. At that time I was considering gastric bypass. My doc wanted me to lower my blood sugar and in my doing so, I lost 35 lbs. My dr. then said I was doing so well on my own that she was NOT going to recommend the surgery. I was livid. So, two years later, different insurance, different dr., and different surgery, I got approved and am schedule for Oct 2, this Friday! :frown2: I can hardly wait! I've lost 12.5 lbs on pre-op diet and am aiming towards another 5 lb. loss before Friday. :smile2: Good luck to you and change doctors! :smile2:

I am 5'4" and my starting weight was 285. I am now 203. I lost 82 pounds in 6 months with diet and exercise. I'm afraid my insurance company will not approve the surgery because of my massive weight loss. :tongue2:

I'm curious what the plan was that they put you on that made you lose so much weight.....

It sounds like you did an amazing job!

I followed guidelines set forth by my nutritionist and exercised according to a regimen set by a personal trainer. Thanks! I worked really, really hard. I put my heart and soul into this entire process because I wanted to be accepted.

You are doing fantastic! I have had my band for 6 months and have lost less weight then you.

You obviously can do this on your own. I say keep up with what you are doing and remember it is not a diet. It is a lifestyle change.

Congratulations on your awesome success.

I agree, it is a lifestyle change and that is why I did it BEFORE surgery and not AFTER. I decided early on that this would be the way I would have to live for the rest of my life, so why wait until after I was banded?? So, I made the choice to change my life the day I saw my nutritionist for the first time. I did not wait until I started the liquid diet nor did I just set out to lose the bare minimum to get approved by the insurance company. I changed my lifestyle over 6 months ago. If people want to know how I did it, that is how I did it... I changed my lifestyle. I feel great physically. Emotionally, I feel a lot better since I have been approved. I'm not stressed out over the insurance part anymore.

There are two other people in my support group who are going through the same situation as me. Should we be punished just because we followed the program and loss weight? I'm sorry that we didn't cheat. We worked the program and it worked for us. I'm now maintaining my weight and my doctors don't know if I will lose anymore on my own. Why should I suffer and be unhappy with my weight when I have the opportunity to benefit from the lap band? I have suffered for most of my adult life. Everyone has there own circumstances and I wish you continued success on your journey. I understand what you are saying and I appreciate your opinion and your support and encouragement. Thank you! :wink2:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
