Hey everyone! I am anxiously awaiting to hear back from my insurance on if they will cover my surgery. I have UHC Choice and the surgical center doing my surgery has sent them my 5 year history. I have been overweight ALL of my life and am looking for a fresh start. I have back aches all the time, reflux, always tired and a family history of diabetes and high blood pressure. I don't have diabetes or suffer with high blood pressure, but I feel it's in my future if things don't change. I have been married for 10 years and we want to have kids. I have had female problems for a long time actually all my life (few or non exisistent periods). I have been off the pill for 4 years now with no luck, I'm hoping I can have the surgery and lose enough that a year from now I can get pregnant.

I always thought I could do it on my own and I'd lose 40lbs here and gain back or 60lbs there and then gain it back. I guess one of the reasons I am anxious about having this done is I am 32 now and it seems like I am running out of time to have kids, which I desparately want. I don't know why I waited so long to have the surgery and if the insurance denies me (which I am totally expecting) cause thats the way my luck is I am going to figure out a way to self pay.

Good luck to everyone else out there playing the waiting game :( and Congrats to everyone else who has been approved or already has the band and is losing :cursing:

Hey! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on the whole insurance thing. Sometimes I think the surgeon & insurance nurses make a difference with the insurance companies too! I was originally told that there was a 6 month waiting period since I did not have a "recorded/supervised" history of dieting or whatever, but the doctor I met a few days ago really changed all of that.

So goodluck! :(

Thanks! I think I am going to call the insurance company again on Thursday to check the status of my approval/denial... I'm just to anxious to have to wait on them to mail me or the surgical center a letter...I need to know...lol

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
