Have you tried Mylcon drops for the gas discomfort?

I was banded on the 1st and the incisions have healed nicely, but it is still itchy and red where the bandages were.

I have noticed I have very low energy. I don't know if it is the change of weather, lack of daylight hours (I live in Portland, OR) or the lack of carbs in the mushy diet.

:w00t::unsure:

 Anyone out there have a October 2009 surgery date? Mine is scheduled for October 27 and I can't wait! I am having a bit of 'reality' anxiety I think.. now that the date is actually set - but I know this is the best decision for me.

Good Luck to all of us who are taking this important step in improving our health and starting a 'new life'

Would love to hear from other Oct 2009 bandsters... :seeya:[/Hi Darria my surgery is also October 27; I'm ready!!!-janet md

Hi Salbri, are you eating enough Protein? What kinds of mushy foods are you eating? I was banded on the 15th and am still on pureed liquids, but get to move on to the mushies in one more week. I am sooooo looking forward to cottage cheese!

Do you know how many calories you're taking in?

Hi Nooshie,

Funny when I was on liquids I was the most excited about eating cottage cheese - so I have eaten it nearly every day. I am getting about 1200 - 1400 calories

Protein Shake (Genisoy Protein, Water, Peanut Butter, banana, GNC powder Vitamins (this is something I have been eating every Breakfast for the last 4 years)

lunch is usually cottage cheese, a few tablespoons of hummus and few tablespoons of pate.

dinner - Soup, more cottage cheese or greek yogurt, hummus or pate.

Oh and I made this amazing applesauce made with apples I cooked in apple cider in place of water and cinnamon.

I have 9 days of mushies left so I am going to try some of the recipes I found in the food section. Maybe a bit of a change in diet would be good.

Anyone have my problem-I have had direaha(sp?)on my preop diet and have started up again since yesterday for my post op diet. I was banded this past Monday and I'm so tired of constantly having to go the bathroom like this.

I'm assuming it is because of the liquid diet-what else can I do? I've been just having the broth and Protein Drinks and an occasional sugar free fudgsicle.

I would really appreciate some feed back. I've been crying for 20 minutes/this really sucks.

Hi chickychoo and congrats on your banding! I was banded Monday and my arms are really black and blue too. It's just part of the process I guess. I just wanted to share with you what my Dr told me- he said don't weigh yourself from the time you get out of the hospital until our first appointment (which is today for me). He said I've been pumped up with so many IV fluids that I will have appeared to gain weight, and he'd rather I concentrate on getting better. The weight will come off. Just follow his instructions and if you're still concerned before you have your follow up appointment, then call the office for peace of mind. That's what they are there for. Best of luck to you for a speedy recovery

Thanks! for the words of encouragement. My follow up appointment isnt until Nov 12th. I ran a fever all day today, but they said that could be somewhat normal, and told me to alternate my lortab with motrin. Sucks especially considering I am still in considerable amount of pain. Mostly mid upper abdomen, and so freaking gassy! haha. Still not able to sleep lying down. Been upright all the time and so now I am having back pain. Its never-ending it seems. A co worker of mine had her surgery yesterday and they said she walked to xray for her swallow study, and went home today(btw we both work in xray at the hospital we had our surgery). I live alone, but have not been home since sunday night because its been difficult to get around. My poor cats are going to stalk me when I get home, my friends are checking on them, but still I feel guilty leaving them sooo long by themselves. :seeya: I'm hoping that tomorrow I feel better so I can stay home for a change. But honestly...I just don't know.

Jill

I also had horrible diarrhea on the pre op diet, and now also on the post op diet. Just be lucky that you can go!! I have diarrhea, but sometimes it is hard to actually go, because the pain to push is so bad. sorry if too much info!

I had my surgery on 10/20. Home now and went to work yesterday. It was slightly painful and tiring.

The running to the loo has to stop 4 days post op, according to my surgeon. You run because of the horrible liquid you drink whilst having your post op x-ray.

Wishing all Oct. re-borns speedy recovery and those that are still waiting, good luck.

In regards to the list, I`ll wait till the last day in Oct. to add myself back on it since I keep being dropped off it.

I'm going October 27th! I'm so excited. I had boot camp yesterday (hospital tour, met with anesthesiologist, spoke with surgeon and signed consents). The countdown is on! Woohoo :seeya::unsure:

KCG, you're so brave to go back to work 2 days after surgery. take it easy and when you get home make sure you rest. i was banded on thurs and didn't go back til tuesday - and i was wiped out at work that day. So my hat's off to you! my doc doesn't do the post op xray, so i didn't have the running to the loo.

Hard to believe we're getting to the end of the month. Good luck to all those in October who've yet to be banded...and speedy recovery to all of us!

Hello everyone.

Well I was postponed again, I gave my husband my surgery date and he is now banded. I am nervous for him he's still in pain today after surgery on Wednesday, I have NO idea when it will be my turn now, after being postponed twice now I am getting kinda bummed out BUT my hubbie is done and that was soooo important! He has a lot longer way to go than I do, thats why I keep putting him first

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
