September 2009 Band Date

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I gotta question this morning..does anyone know how long it takes for your incisions to heal..I have one that goes right where my jean line would go ....so I can't wear my jeans and I hate wearing workout pants all the time

I had the single incision - about an inch inside my belly button. My surgery was 9/11 and I have wore jeans yesterday for the first time- it was ok. I try and position them above or below though the incision as much as possible.

Goodmorning everyone. I am feeling better today. Yesterday I was really nauseated for the first time, so I stuck to liquids yesterday and feel better today, will start again today with soft foods and see how it goes. How is everyone that was banded the first week doing? How is everyone else?

Amanda i haven't caught up yet... why do you think you were nauseous? Did it happen after eating mushies what did you eat? Hope you are doing better. THis is a learning curve for us to understand how much we should eat. I saw my esophagram and restriction or not - that is a significant narrowing. My doc told me she put in a little restriction but when i went for the post op check they said its really nothing they just prime the tubes really.

You lost 31 lbs, whether you did it preop or post op, I think that is absolutely amazing! you are going through bandster hell..If it were me, I would try to hold onto those 31 lbs lost and just to sustain that loss until you get your first fill. Then I think you will lose like you want:thumbup:

Yes I agree! 31 lbs is great! We should expect the weight loss to slow down. To lose a lb of fat you need to deficit 3500 calories.. if you do the math you are probably over that amt in weightloss (I know I am ) so at some point we will catch up. Multiply your weight by 10 or 11 to figure out your maintenance calories.

Hi All,

Banded 9-2 and getting very down. I have only lost 5 lbs. I am keeping to high Protein. My band is empty so maybe that is not helping. I am loosing the same amount that I would loose before I was banded. I am keeping mostly to Protein Shakes , some eggs, tuna and chicken. Getting disheartened. I am happy for all of the sept banders. Keep up the good work.

I agree. 31 lbs is great. Plus 5 lbs in 2 weeks is also good. 2-3 lbs a week is healthy. You are doing great.

Yes, Its still swollen alot. I know it will go down, but i am just worrying about getting into clothes to return to work. I am eating same stuff as you, but to be honest. I am not wanting to move onto other foods just yet. Right now I am not hungry and feeling full from the surgery. I decided to ride that train as long as I can because I have lost weight. Once we start adding other foods the weight loss is gonna slow down like everyone elses when we go through bandster hell

And I my scale gave me wonderful news this morning, I have entered ONEDERLAND! I did it barely by 1/2 lb...but im there i and its very motivating!

Congratulations on hitting ONDERLAND! I still have 38 lbs til onderland.

Don't be so quick about adding more foods, once we get off the shakes and Soups and start eating real food, our weight loss is gonna slow up lol

I'm gonna stick with the shakes and soups as long as i can stand it and then ill start adding the real food:wink2:

You're not Kidding..:).. I'm now sticking to one to two Protein Shakes a day and a mushy meal. Yesterday for dinner, I made the kids hamburgers. I pureed a patty with some organic Tomato and roasted pepper Soup. I added some chili and It turned out very Good..:( I'm happy to report I lost one pound.. That makes me officially under 240.. WOW I haven't been that in years..

Wondering how Loveslady is doing, since we were banded on the 17th. First 2 days were great, but today I probably did not drink enough Water and felt kind of lousy. Water helped! Not hungry, but I sure would just like to lick a potato chip or piece of cheese. LOL!

Hope things are going well.

I am not on the list either and I posted on the first page.

Oh well...

Had my surgery yesterday and came home today. Had some problems with the sleep apnea last night, my o2 SAT went down to 82 and my pulse dropped to 48. Couldn't sleep much after that, but no one else seemed worried. I had an exam by a pulmonologist today and was told to call my cardiologist for a holter moniter on Monday. But they sent me home.

I had from what the Dr said "huge hiatial hernia" which he repaired. Because of that my muscles are more sore than they should be. I did have some gas problems but the gas_X melts really worked great.

I was given tylenol with codeine by mouth every 4 hours and Tordol in my IV in the hospital and have the Tylenol with codeine for home too. Worked pretty good but tonight will be the test.

Climbing stairs sitting and sitting are tough, but lying down is ok.

there were 4 others who had the surgery at my hospital floor last night and I was the only one who walked. I just wanted to go and drag them out of bed and tell them to stop thinking the surgery would do it all for them.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
