Blood in the syringe

Recommended Posts

I need advice...I am going in for my third fill in 6 weeks. I was told I have 3.5ccs in my band. I hope I do. 2 weeks ago the NP stuck me several times before she changed the needle. I was numb so I did not feel the multiple sticks. When she remove the needle and syringe there was blood in the saline. This has only started to concern me since I am going back tomorrow morning. Is it normal to see blood in the syringe? I do not know if she is filling the band . I have absolutely no restriction whatsoever. If she is sticking the soft spot on the port, why is there blood in the syringe?

What should I do?

I wonder if the blood is from the multiple sticks. I agree you should have them check it.

Mimi! How the heck are you? I see from your stats that you are doing great, so close to goal!

I'd call and tell the office I wanted the surgeon to do my fills...you can do it in a way where it won't cause a ruckus (unless you WANT to cause a ruckus) LOL I assume from your angel icon you don't.

My surgeon does ALL my fills...because initially I just preferred him (he's a groovy guy and I like chatting with him) but now because my port is tilted and he's the "pro". The NP usually comes in to chat a bit, but the surgeon does my fills (see, no hard feelings with the NP)

You are the "customer"....get the service you want.

I went back Tuesday for another fill and the same thing happened. Once she found the port after multiple sticks she had to change the saline because blood was mixed in. How is blood getting into the syringe if she is pushing the contents out of the syringe rather than pulling saline out of my port? I am baffled.

its things like that why i wont let anyone touch my band except my surgeon... next time do yourself a favor and ask for the surgeon.

no offense to the np but she doent sound like she is very experienced/know what she is doing:scared2:

Hello 2911 - I'm having a yellowish color in my syringe did you ever find out what the problem was? Very interested in knowing the outcome?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
