Scared to death about my first fill! HELP!!

Recommended Posts

I've had LOTS of fills done. Both with and without lidocaine. Let me tell you , in my experience, the lidocaine hurts far worse than just getting a fill. Lidocaine stings me. I don't even feel the fill needle. Close your eyes and don't look at the needle. What you don't see won't hurt you!

Hopefully Karen (Giveyouthemoon) will hop on this thread so she can tell me how her fills have gone. She was banded by LAPSF as well. Different surgeon, but I imagine they do their fills the same way.

I will bring my husband with me, Theresa, when I get my fill, so I have someone to hold my hand. I am also pretty sold on the Valium idea ;-) so he will need to drive.

Bensmum, I'm SO SORRY I missed this thread earlier!!! WOW, so very sorry. I am pretty *shocked* that one of the doctors argued with you about getting numbed! Yuck! (heh...maybe you can PM me which one...lol!!)

My first fill was tough only because my port is so deep and I've got some scar tissue above it so I had to get stuck seven times before he had a needle long enough to hit home. Needless to say, that was pretty traumatic!

Today I got my second fill and it was easy peasy! Dr. Cirangle did it for me and since I've lost 24 lbs since my last fill, my tummy is smaller and he got there in one try. It was the easiest thing ever!! Just a little pinch.

I don't have a big needle issue but heck, if you TELL YOUR DOCTOR that you do....they should accomodate that. Glad you found a LapSF doc that understood!!!

Hang tough friend! We'll get through this together!!

Hey Karen!!

I had Dr. Cirangle do my fill because my surgeon (Feng) rescheduled on me several times. I talked Dr. Cirangle into the Lidocaine shot, AND had put an Emla patch on earlier so I didnt even feel the Lido!

I got 1CC and I am just starting to feel the restriction. I am no longer worried about my fills- I'll save the worry for the days I jump on the scale :-)

Bensmum, I have to say, I was a little skeptical about Dr. C at first. His initial bedside manner left a lot to be desired. However, through the course of post surgery follow up, he's proven to be an all right guy.

Glad he took care of you!!

I got my first fill today 4wks after my surgery and It was no problem at all for him to find the port, but them i got up and took a sip of Water and it didn't go down so i stuck around because my doc is going out of town tommorrow.,

I ended up having to get a little unfilled. It was a horrible feeling when Water got stuck in my throat. but then he took a little out and I was wonderful. at least he had no problem with the needle, which i didn't even look at, I couldn't tell you what it looked like even.

I got through my first fill on November 10th. I had to go to x-ray for my first. It's been 3 1/2 months since my surgery. Dr. Morand gave me a 4cc fill and I find that I don't have anymore restriction than before my fill. I contacted him and I have to wait another 6 weeks to get more fill. I'm still losing but it's taking a lot of struggle to not eat too much.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
