For those who just had surgery....

Mine is 7/23 and I only have enough time to take off two days. (Thursday, Friday and then I already have the weekend off). Do you think I'll be ok after 4 days to return on Monday?? I know everyone is different. I usually recover well from surgery. Please give me your opinions about how you felt after 4 days. Thanks!

I have always felt that how you have recovered from previous surgeries is a fairly good indicator of how one will recover from band surgery. I know quite a few people who had the surgery done on Friday and were back to work on Monday. Personally, I needed a full week, but, as you said, everyone is different.

What type of work do you do? That makes a huge difference. If you have a desk job, you should be fine. If you do something more physical or are on your feet a lot, you might be pushing it a bit.

I had surgery on a Wed and probably could have come back Monday. The only thing that may have been bothersome were incisions and wearing dress pants or any pants that weren't "lounge pants" because I have an incision right above my belly button and only over the last few days has it gotten to the point where pants arent irritating it. But placement of incisions will vary and other than feeling like you did a helluva ab workout, hopefully the "pain" will be gone by then. I'm so excited for you!!!

angelic,

i think that it's possible, cuz i did it in that amount of time. but i really did take it very easy for those days i was off work, and got lots of rest, and very slowly moved from Clear liquids to full liquids. if you push things, you'll set yourself back, so take your time. but walk (even if slowly) as much as possible, so you get the gas out, and do your deep breathing, since that helps get the anesthesia out of your system, supposedly.

good luck!

I was off 2 work days (incoluding a weekend) and was fine. Tired, but fine. I do have a desk job and very considerate and helpful co-workers!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
