I haven't been on lap-band talk for 3 years. I'm very discouraged. My starting weight was 262. I lost 40 lbs in the first year, since then nothing. I've been to the doctor for all my fills. Even he doesn't know why. He thought that maybe my band was too tight and I shut down my metabolism. So he opened my band a little. and gave my body a rest. happens Then we filled it back up again. I have restriction but still nothing. this is what happens I loose 40 to 50 lbs. then my body stops. I've had my thyroid checked and everything s fine. I even talked to my family doctor and he agreed that my metabolism could have shut down and also maybe one of the medications I was on could have helped me maintain my weight. So we changed it. I did loose the 7 lbs that I gained when the band was opened, but thats all. I was afraid I was going to fail at this attempt too. I said that to the surgeon when I first started and he said that it was impossible to fail. Well I did lose 40 anyway. but I thought by now I would be getting rid of this stomach apron I"m tired of my back hurting every day from it.:frown::smile2::thumbup::w00t:

Are you keeping a food diary? That might help to see if your not getting enough/to many calories. Also helps for you to see what you are eating as far as types of food. I have to log every single taste. I don't really keep it as a diet thing because it isn't a diet, but when I don't log I realize that I am eating things that are sliders. Where when I log my foods, I don't eat sliders as often. I also have a habit of eating to little. This helps my see that I need to ramp it up some. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi, some days I think I don't eat enough. I can go all day without eating and then try to eat and end up sliming. (i think that is the term) and then other days I eat too much. I learned something new today by reading the threads. the word is sliders. I do eat things that go down easy I thought is what you were to do? I need someone to set me straight again. I wish I had a daily menu to follow it would be easy for me.

Hi AlyssaH,

Sorry to hear you are struggling. I am too so I can empathize. Gone 4 Ever mentioned a food diary and I think that might help both of us. I know I'm eating the wrong things and I think a diary would force me to recognize it and deal with it. The food diary might help you identify a pattern when you suddenly stop losing. I'm going to give it a try. It couldn't hurt!

Good Luck!

I just thought of something that might help you. Your talking about a daily menu. make one for yourself! Look at the What did you eat today threads and the recipe threads. That might really help you a lot. But try to stay away from the slider foods. When you go all day with out eating that is not a good thing. At least drink Protein Shakes during the day that way your not so hungry when you try to eat at night. Make sure you eat slow, and small bites. CHEW CHEW CHEW your food. Hopes this helps you.

there is a thread on here that explains how to do the ticker. I really can't explain it very well and might have you all confused! LOL

I'm not banded yet, but have been through the diet regime as much as anyone.

Fitday is a great place to do a food journal. It's free and easy to use. They've improved the on-line version a great deal since I've started with it (5 or so years ago) and I really like it. They have a list of foods already, but you can do custom foods also. It will track your weight and activities if you choose and there is a regular journal. It's private, journal entries are not public but you can go back and see how you are doing.

Also, you need to eat at least 3 times a day....do not skip Breakfast or lunch. Your body thinks it's not going to get the calories it needs and shuts down. It will actually enable you to gain weight. Drink a Protein drink if nothing else in the morning. There are a bunch out there, find one that suits you.

From reading the posts and other books and websites, the band is supposed to limit the amount of solid food. There should be some help available here on diet and types of food you should be eating. I don't think you are supposed to be eating really soft foods.

Hope you find the solution you need to lose weight. I truly believe this is a tool and you need to use the tool. I also believe it will not be easy and that I will have to work to lose weight, but if I can quell the hunger and work on my head issues, I will succeed this time.

I feel your pain. I've had my band about a year and a half now, I went from 258 to 203 now back to 207. I work out faithfully 5 days/week. I have to be honest my diet isn't always very good. But whether or not I have the right I still feel frustrated. I know I really need to improve my diet. Sometimes I could kick myself, I have half the battle down. I'm able to keep myself motivated to exercise! Why do i keep sabbotaging by eating things that are such poor choices?!!! Anyway I sympathize with you. I guess I need to restart my journal too. Good luck to you, don't give up. By the way are you exercising?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
